At the sa ti, in the Bai family's house, Bai Luyun was washing clothes near the well when suddenly a lot of clothes were dumped on her head.

Startled by this, she let out an exclamation and raised her head. When she saw her eldest sister-in-law was glaring at her, she stopped herself from asking what she was doing.

Looking at her timid expression, her eldest sister-in-law felt fed up and glared at her while saying, "Wash faster. You have taken so many hours just to wash these clothes. No wonder your husband doesn't want you. Such a lazy and stupid woman is only a waste of food!"

After finishing her words, she turned around and went back into the house.

Looking at the pile of clothes, Bai Luyun let out a sigh. After returning to her parents' house, her sisters-in-law kept finding fault with her, especially her eldest sister-in-law.

Even though her husband sent grains and vegetables every few days, they still treated her harshly, saying she was an abandoned woman and a burden to her natal family.

At first, she would argue with them, saying that she wasn't abandoned by her husband but had left him instead. She also told them she was able to feed herself. But no one believed her.

Even if her parents and brothers said she could stay there as long as she wanted, she noticed that they were still hoping she would go back to her husband's house. After all, a married daughter was like spilled water.

Because of this, she didn't dare to tell her parents about her decision to divorce her husband. Her father, as the village elder, would never agree to it.

Thinking about her uncertain future, she felt scared. But she couldn't force herself to accept her husband having a child with another woman. The pain was too much for her to bear.

Recalling what happened that day in the warehouse, she couldn't help but sob silently while washing the clothes. If only she hadn't heard those words, if only she hadn't seen them, she might have been able to lie to herself that everything was alright. Unfortunately, she couldn't even have the right to lie to herself anymore.

She didn't know how long she spent washing the clothes. All she knew was her hands were in pain, and her skin was peeling off from rubbing the clothes for too long. Looking at her rough fingers, she felt so wronged and finally burst out crying.

When Han Yuheng was near the Bai family's house, he was startled when he heard the faint sound of soone crying. Since the voice was so similar to his wife's, he quickened his pace.

The mont he reached the Bai family's house, he saw his wife crying while hugging her knee like a lost child. Around her were two basins of unwashed clothes and a basin filled with tall piles of washed clothes.

Looking at the children's clothes, he knew that his wife might be bullied by her sisters-in-law. Feeling anger surging in his heart, he pushed open the gate and entered with large strides.

He pulled his wife up and asked, "Wife, who bullied you?"

Bai Luyun was startled when she was suddenly pulled up and heard her husband's cold voice. When she raised her head, she t his eyes which were filled with anger.

The mories of her being beaten surfaced in her mind, and she shuddered instantly. She tried to pull her arm from his grip while saying, "Let go."

Han Yuheng felt so frustrated when he saw his wife crying with swollen eyes, but she still refused to tell him anything, even fearing him. Feeling angry at himself, he asked again, "Who bullied you?"

This ti, Bai Luyun avoided his gaze and said, "No one is bullying . I live well here."

Noticing his wife's peeled skin, Han Yuheng grabbed her wrist and raised her hands. He looked at her angrily and asked, "Your hands have already beco like this, and you say no one bullied you? Wife, do you think I'm blind?!"

Bai Luyun's heart skipped a beat when she saw how angry her husband was. She felt more wronged and said aggrievedly, "You are hurting ."

As soon as she finished her words, tears started falling from the corner of her eyes.

The mont Han Yuheng saw his wife crying again, all his anger disappeared instantly. He quickly relaxed his grip but refused to let her go. He pulled her into a hidden corner and hugged her.

Patting her back, he said with remorse, "Wife, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have shouted at you. Don't cry, okay? You have just given birth to our son. If you keep crying, you will harm your eyes."

Bai Luyun was suffering from mild depression, and her emotions were unstable. With the stress accumulating from her marriage crisis and her sisters-in-law's bullying, she finally broke down and cried uncontrollably the mont she felt her husband's warm embrace and gentle patting.

Seeing his wife like this, Han Yuheng's eyes turned red, and he cried silently. He didn't know what he could do to make her feel better and could only hold her silently like this.

At this mont, he finally realized how useless he was. He couldn't even protect his family, so what qualifications did he have to dream of becoming an officer?

After a long ti, Bai Luyun's emotions finally cald down. When she ca back to her senses, she realized that she was leaning on her husband's chest. She could hear his steady heartbeat.

Lost in her thoughts, she heard her husband say, "Wife, co back with , okay?"

Thinking about how her son would be scolded as a bastard child by her sisters-in-law, Bai Luyun felt pain in her heart. It was better to go back with her husband. At least no one would scold her child there. With this thought, she nodded but said nothing.

Han Yuheng was observing his wife when he saw her agree to his request.
