Chapter 971: Invasion (6)
Chapter 971
Leo, Sera, Gunther, and Lilly were the only prominent figures remaining atop the fortification.
Da and Anna had already descended long ago to join the chaotic fray below.
Separately, they might not have been able to achieve much, but together, they were striving their hardest—slaying the enemy as efficiently as possible.
"What’s the plan, Leo?" Gunther asked, turning his attention toward the forr vice principal of the Aetherian Academy.
Leo stared at the stump where his hand used to be for a fleeting mont, a gesture of somber reflection.
"Plan? Ha! For once, I’m truly lost on what to do," he replied, a trace of lancholy flickering across his features.
Sera twirled her sword with practiced ease for a few seconds while staring into the distance.
"How strong are the vice leaders of the Behemoth Clan?"
Gunther rubbed his chin thoughtfully, fixing his gaze on the three vice leaders flanking Devan.
"I won’t say they are invincible. Alba and her clan managed to bring Pluck down through collective effort. Oscroch was previously chased away by Grey.
But Ortiz... I’m not entirely certain of his true depth. Oscroch is a stage seven warrior, while Pluck—the strongest vice leader—is a stage eight. That should give you a fairly accurate estimate, right?"
Sera looked at her hands, feeling the Ki coursing through her veins with a steady pulse.
’And I’m only a stage seven warrior.’
Lifting her gaze, she looked back at Gunther and Leo.
’... They are both stage eight warriors, but the results could differ wildly in a battle of this magnitude.’
Lilly groaned loudly, finally regaining her composure after the sudden, overwhelming rush of stolen vitality in her system.
Refraining from using the draining ability of her modified bow for the mont, she opted for mundane ammunition instead.
Nocking four arrows simultaneously, she let them whistle forward; they sliced into the heads of several n who had attempted to sneak up on her allies.
She didn’t rest. She didn’t falter. She was letting arrow after arrow fly with lethal force.
’Co on! I can’t stop now,’ she hyped herself inwardly as she continued the relentless barrage.
The rest of her clan mbers had already descended to bolster the ground forces.
’... Focus. Don’t look at the numbers. Just don’t look at the size of that army.’
But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t help but see the sea of humans that appeared utterly insurmountable.
There were simply too many.
Yet, she didn’t relent.
Turning to briefly glance at the trio standing beside her on the wall, she frowned for a second before refocusing on the slaughter.
Her duty was absolute: she could not let the enemy approach the gates.
If they breached the entrance, it would be over for the Dawn Faction.
"Shouldn’t we be joining the fight now?" Sera questioned, her brows furrowed in frustration.
Gunther gripped the handles of the swords on his back in readiness, his muscles tensing.
Leo quickly shook his head, causing them both to pause.
"No. Not now," he replied, his gaze never leaving the ocean of enemies that had now partially obscured their allies.
Those soldiers who attempted to break away from the main clash and lunge toward the gates—which sat about fifteen ters away from the primary battlefield—were imdiately neutralized by Lilly’s precise shots.
Sera lifted a brow. "Why is that? We need every available blade in the frontlines."
Leo shook his head, pointing his cane toward the n being cut down by Lilly’s arrows.
Initially, it had only been a handful of soldiers trying to reach the gate, but now, more and more were joining the desperate sprint.
"... Your job is to stop anyone from reaching the gate or infiltrating the faction. While the others are occupied pushing the frontlines, you both should ease Lilly’s burden by intercepting those who slip through."
Sera and Gunther exchanged a brief look.
"Now?" Gunther questioned, poised to leap from the parapet.
Leo shook his head again, his eyes surveying the battlefield with a calm, tactical precision. "Not yet. Wait until I give the signal."

At the far back of the enemy line, Devan’s gaze glided across the battlefield with an unsettling calm.
He remained completely unperturbed by the chaotic situation unfolding before him.
"Uh... shouldn’t we join the fray now?" Pluck questioned, his voice thick with anticipation.
He was beyond ready for a rematch with the Crimson Lotus Clan.
He still seethed over the humiliating defeat they had dealt him at the coliseum; in his mind, they had only managed to best him because he was montarily distracted and halted by Zen.
Now, he was prepared to smash them into oblivion.
Having already gone through the hassle of facing them before, he had studied their fighting patterns and was certain of his victory.
Devan looked at him and gave a slow shake of his head.
"Not now. I am still observing the opposition. When the ti is right, you will all join. For now, I want them to be worn down by our massive numbers first."
Ortiz bead at the leader’s strategic patience.
"Well, well, it seems like I’m rubbing off on soone. Haha!" He chuckled, clearly pleased with the cold logic.
However, his amusent was imdiately cut short as Devan shot him a sharp, silencing glare.
Oscroch remained silent, his eyes fixed intensely on Fenrir, who continued to move through the ranks like a phantom.
The lightning warrior wasn’t showing any signs of slowing down.
He was blurring through the enemy with overwhelming velocity, calling down lightning projectiles repeatedly to clear the field.
’... This is the sa ability the Supre Magus used against
that day. How can one of his allies wield it? What is going on here? Who is the Supre Magus, really?’
A certain uneasy feeling gnawed at the vice leader’s heart the more he watched Fenrir neutralize enemies with minimal effort.
Their Ki was unable to save them; it couldn’t even boost their speed enough to reach Fenrir’s level.
His lightning affinity was simply that superior.
anwhile, while all of this was transpiring, two certain crackheads had just arrived at the edge of the battlefield, silently watching the carnage in amusent.
