Chapter 969: Invasion (4)
Chapter 969
The war had officially begun, and it started with a resounding bang.
The Dawn forces had already rushed onto the battlefield, engaging the Behemoth legion in a collision that was truly ground-shaking.
Within re seconds of the initial clash, blood was being spilled and bodies were dropping to the ground from both sides.
Due to their overwhelming numbers, it appeared as though the Behemoth Clan were about to overpower the Dawn forces through sheer attrition.
But before that could happen, Fenrir decided to tilt the scales.
The skies darkened abruptly, and from the depths of the ashen, fluffy clouds, lightning rained down on the army surrounding him.
Screams tore from their lungs as the heavens opened up.
Those who didn’t perish from the direct hits imdiately were left paralyzed by the electricity, allowing Fenrir to finish them off with lightning arrows here and there.
He was moving like a blur—a phantom of mass destruction.
Jagged streaks of lightning shifted from one spot to the next, leaving the enemy unable to track his movents.
Even with their Ki boosting their speed, Fenrir was simply faster.
Kicking backward, he managed to avoid a stray, invisible Ki fist that smashed into the ground, creating a deep chasm in the earth.
The mont his feet touched the ground, he shifted his leg forward, and a streak of lightning ran across the earth like a hunting snake.
It chained the feet of a dozen n, leaving them paralyzed and frozen.
Clapping his hands together, a dozen lightning arrows surged out, ripping through their ranks with clinical precision.
Fenrir was vengeance incarnate; he had no ti to waste and no energy to expend unnecessarily.
It was a shocking entry into the fray.
Thalos, anwhile, remained remarkably calm.
He barely moved an inch as he watched the Dawn forces clash with the Behemoth warriors.
Alba, Killian, and Brook had already darted forward to assist the n, yet Thalos remained in his position for a heartbeat longer.
He lifted his gaze to lock onto the four leaders perched atop their massive mount.
’I don’t have ti for these weaklings.’
Swinging his greatsword downward, the tip burrowed into the ground.
As he began to walk forward, the sword ripped through the earth with unnatural ease, trailing behind him like a plow.
He was calm, careful, and unhurried.
He passed through the midst of the n, who were far too occupied with their own survival to even glance his way, let alone launch an attack.
An arrow flew toward his face.
All he did was calmly swing his hand through the air, and the projectile splintered against his fra.
He continued his walk like soone who had all the ti in the world to accomplish his task.
A warrior charged at him, brandishing a mace as his weapon of choice.
Swinging it with all the strength and speed the man could muster, Thalos effortlessly sidestepped the strike.
The man quickly repositioned himself and hauled his weapon around for a second attempt, but his wrist was snatched out of the air.
It was followed imdiately by a soul-crushing knee to his chest.
A loud crack echoed as the man flew backward, his chest caving in as if a massive boulder had been dropped upon it.
Blood spritzed into the air as he collided with his own comrades.
Without a second look, Thalos continued on his way.
"Ah yeah! Battle ti!" Rivock howled into the air, a wide grin splitting his face.
Without any hesitation whatsoever, he blasted forward from where he stood atop the wall.
He landed smoothly on the ground without so much as a sprain on his ankles.
Then, he began walking forward.
Just as calm as Thalos, he was unhurried as he stepped into the center of the clashing weapons.
The mont he did, all eyes set on him instantly.
The Behemoth n wasted no ti in rushing at him with full speed, weapons swinging from multiple directions at once.
Rivock paused.
Eyes scanning the n from every corner, the edges of Rivock’s lips twitched excitedly as the enemy rushed toward him.
Then, he took a single, deliberate step backward.
The mont he did, he suddenly blurred forward as two Ki blades shimred into his grasp.
He whipped them forward with blinding speed.
Before the soldiers could even blink, his strikes hit ho, neutralizing the front line instantly.
Without missing a beat, Rivock vaulted into the air, hovering above the fallen for a fleeting second.
With all his might, he hurled one of the energy swords, sending it whistling through the air.
The projectile struck an enemy who was about to overwhelm one of the Dawn warriors, stopping the attacker in his tracks.
Rivock landed on the ground smoothly before blurring forward once more, a grin splitting his face as he prepared to cause imdiate chaos.
Twirling the remaining Ki blade in his hand, he leaned his neck to the side, effortlessly avoiding a sword that slid past his ear.
His leg snapped forward like a whip, catching an opponent with a strike that left the man gasping in agony.
The Ki sword in Rivock’s hand glowed a dangerous, vibrant yellow as he lunged forward like a striking serpent.
He drove the blade into his opponent, grabbed the man with a single hand, and hurled the body into the enemy ranks.
Click—!
Snapping his fingers together, he detonated the energy he had planted.
The body exploded in a violent burst of Ki, a shockwave that tore through the ranks where the man had been thrown.
The blast shattered their formation, sending soldiers tumbling to the earth.
Mada and Noelle jumped down afterward, their various weapons ready.
Not long after their boots hit the soil, the enemy was already charging toward them.
"Let’s do this," Mada uttered calmly, his focus narrowing.
Noelle gave no verbal response.
Instead, the whip in her hand cracked loudly as she lashed it forward.
She adjusted her eyepatch, ensuring it was firmly in place, before lunging at the charging n with incredible speed.
Within monts, she was upon them.
In a single, fluid twirl, her whip lashed out, producing razor-sharp slashes of Ki that threatened to tear through anything in their path.
The soldiers leaped backward, narrowly avoiding the lethal arcs of energy.
But Noelle wasn’t finished with them.
Ki compressed at the soles of her feet, allowing her to flash-step directly in front of one of the n.
With a cold glare and zero hesitation, she drove her knee into his midsection, the force of the impact leaving him breathless and doubled over.
The whip lashed out again, coiling tightly around his neck.
With minimal effort, she yanked the weapon backward, sending the man’s body crashing into his comrades—scattering the formation in all directions.
