Chapter 966: Invasion (1)

Chapter 966

Three days had already passed in the blink of an eye.

Three days ago, Da had just discovered that the Behemoth Clan would be launching an assault on the Dawn Faction.

The mont the news reached him, he rushed over to inform the leadership.

Taking the warning with the gravity it deserved, contingencies were already being put in place imdiately.

Those who had been stationed outside of the faction had been summoned back.

Even the Crimson Lotus Clan, who typically didn’t want to be a part of any created faction or clan, were pulled into the fold.

Every ally of Grey was called forth to defend his territory.

Today was finally the day.

The towns and cities closest to the faction fortress had already been evacuated.

Every single civilian had been moved deeper into the inner sanctum a day before so they wouldn’t be caught in the crossfire of the impending attack.

There were two main gates that provided entry into the Dawn Faction, and these two barriers were imdiately reinforced with warriors.

Over a hundred thousand combatants from the Dawn Faction were already mobilized.

They were split into two equal divisions to stand at the two defensive walls.

The North and West gates were reinforced with n who kept their weapons steady and ready for the signal.

An enormous wall encircled the entire Dawn Faction.

Usually, a few dozen sentries were positioned atop these parapets—patrolling and overseeing the grounds.

But now, those n were on the ground level, standing behind the gates and waiting for the attack to comnce so they could flood outside.

A hundred thousand against over five hundred thousand n; the odds were incredibly low for the Dawn Faction.

The Behemoth Clan of the Noxarian faction was known as the clan with the largest standing army.

That was precisely why they were dubbed ’Behemoth’—their prowess in terms of sheer numbers was unmatched across the land.

And now, they were planning on demonstrating their might by crumbling the whole Dawn Faction today.

Atop the walls, which were as wide as a main road, the primary fighters and Grey’s closest allies stared ahead into the distance.

Fenrir Stormspear, Rivock, Mada, Noelle, Gunther, Leo, Alba and her Crimson Lotus Clan, Da, Thalos, and even Anna had tagged along.

No matter how hard Da tried, he was unable to convince her to stay behind.

She had insisted she would assist; there was no way she would sit back and watch her savior’s faction fall.

She was willing to place her life on the line to protect the Dawn Faction.

Alba and her clan mbers stood at the West wall, while the rest occupied the North wall.

They were watching, bating their breaths as they waited for the Behemoth Clan to appear.

Thalos was no longer in his disguised human form.

He stood in his massive gargoyle state, his greatsword brimming in his hand as he watched the horizon without saying a word.

Rivock was currently grinning like a madman with his hands folded across his chest, his eyes alight with battle-lust.

"An all-out war with the Behemoth Clan? Ha—ha—hah—hah! This will be incredibly fun."

Noelle, who was usually nervous and shifty, looked remarkably firm.

Her singular eye scanned the wide expanse sprawled before them with a calm, focused gaze.

She didn’t appear afraid of what would occur today.

Ever since the grueling battle with her mother, she had changed incredibly.

Scars marred her face and body, but she remained composed.

The whip twisted and curled in her hand like a venomous snake ready to lash out at its next victim.

This lash was the sa one her mother had wielded during her lifeti; fortunately, the weapon hadn’t been destroyed in that final battle, hence she had laid claim to it as her own.

Leo held his cane firmly in the only hand he had left, his eyes unwavering as he gazed forward into the horizon.

Fenrir had previously tried getting the one-ard swordsman to stay back, but the man had flatly refused.

He was going to partake in this struggle no matter the cost.

Looking behind him for a fleeting mont, Fenrir stared at the city sprawled across the jagged terrain.

He couldn’t physically see them, but he could feel the collective hope of all the hidden civilians being pinned squarely on their shoulders.

’Damn. Why did this have to happen now? Are we even going to win this encounter?’

Curling his hands into tight fists, Fenrir gritted his teeth in sheer annoyance before snapping his head forward to glare at the distance.

’... These cowards decided to strike only after Grey had departed.’

"Ugh... Where are they, for crying out loud?!" Killian shouted from his position at the West wall.

His twin blades were rattling against his back as if they were sentient and ready to spill blood.

Beside him, Lilly was poised with her bow and a single arrow nocked.

An annoyed, restless look lingered on her face.

"Fuck this all! Where are they? I truly want to taste my new, modified weapon on them all."

She grinned while recalling how the Supre Magus had taken his ti modifying her bow and arrows before he left for his original world.

Now in her grip was a sleek, crimson bow that felt incredibly firm and strong.

But nocked in the string was an arrow that looked deceptively mundane.

Recalling the specific instructions he had given her about the new modifications, she quivered slightly in fright.

The bow possessed a peculiar condition for its use, and it certainly made her fear for her own safety.

Even Lance had one of his heavy axes modified; it now granted him certain abilities which he loved incredibly.

With all these improvents in mind, the Dawn Faction felt ready... or so they thought.

THUD! THUD! THUD!

Footsteps.

Thousands and thousands of synchronized footsteps—even from the distance at which they were marching, the sound reached the wall, which was over a kiloter away from the source.

The defenders couldn’t see the invaders yet, but they could certainly hear and feel the earth vibrating beneath them now.

Everybody tensed up as massive dust clouds began rushing their way at full speed, obscuring the horizon.

Weapons were imdiately unsheathed as every warrior prepared for the fight of their lives.

The Behemoth Clan drew closer at a terrifying pace.

Their flags, which unsurprisingly had a massive Behemoth silhouette drawn upon them, wafted aggressively in the air as they approached.

Slowly, over the horizon, the Dawn Faction could finally see the true scale of the army, and oh, were they nurous.

Hearing the staggering number of n and actually seeing them were two totally different things.
