Chapter 964: Borfan’s Sons (2)

Chapter 964

"That old geezer..." Dan snickered before letting out an irritated huff.

Han continued to chuckle, the faint echoes of the screams belonging to the clan mbers they had decimated years ago still ringing clearly in his ears.

It was a lody he never tired of hearing.

"Re—Re—Remind

what they did again..."

Han looked toward Dan for assistance, unable to stop himself from wheezing through his laughter.

Dan scoffed, his expression darkening.

"Yeah... the heir to that clan looked at Anna the wrong way. The idiot actually tried asking her out. What a total loser."

"Ha—ha—hah—hah! Yeah, that fool!" Han was still doubling over, his hands clutching his gut as if in physical pain from the hilarity.

He wiped tears from his face at intervals, all while pointing mockingly at the two siblings standing across from him.

Dan eventually frowned, his patience thinning.

"I think that’s enough, Han."

"Pffffff—! Hahaha! Okay, okay, yeah. That’s sufficient." Han laughed for another full minute before abruptly halting his hysterics.

Wiping the moisture from the corners of his eyes, he scanned the bewildered, tense expressions on his siblings’ faces—especially Da and Anna.

’Anybody who sees Han would assu he’s weak,’ Da mused with a scowl, recalling vividly who had dealt him more brutal blows than anyone else in his life.

What had been his brother’s excuse back then?

’Sothing about making

sturdier and ensuring he pushed

to my full potential! Tsk.’

"Anyway," Han mumbled once he had finally regained his composure.

He exhaled sharply before looking at Anna with a fondness that felt misplaced given the atmosphere.

"Heard that you had been kidnapped and tornted by the Umbrafell faction. Taken by one of their camps right on our own land. They did unthinkable things to you, huh?"

Han spoke with utter, chilling calmness, but beneath that placid surface, he was seething with a volcanic rage.

Tilting his head to glare at Da, he added with a sinister, fixed smile.

"Too bad that your more competent brothers weren’t around to shield you. The entire ordeal was left for your feeble brother to handle, and he couldn’t even manage it properly. He had to run and seek assistance from an outsider. Pathetic."

The words were cutting deep, but for so reason, they didn’t sting quite as much as they used to.

In the past, Da wouldn’t have even dread of replying or talking back to his elders.

When they were younger, such defiance always resulted in a doubled punishnt.

He still wondered: why had they always treated Anna as if she were a fragile egg?

Was it simply because she was a girl, or because her power had eventually eclipsed his own?

He had never uncovered the true motive. But his blood continued to boil regardless.

His teeth gnashed against one another as he endured the mockery on Han’s face.

Dan noticed the shift in deanor imdiately. "I would advise you to cease the glaring, Da. The man who usually shielded and protected you in the shadows is deceased."

"Pfffff! Hahahah! Can you actually believe our old man?" Han burst out into unhinged laughter again, slamming his heavy hand onto Dan’s shoulder for support.

He was hunched over, consud by amused cruelty.

"The man really surrendered all his hard work and Ki to an outsider! He actually made that final sacrifice? Hahahaha! What could have possibly gone through his head?"

"Madness," Dan replied with a stern, judgntal look.

Da was reaching his breaking point.

How could they speak so disparagingly of their father like this?

For fuck’s sake, the man was dead!

Yes, all four of them harbored a deep-seated hatred for Borfan because of how he had always manipulated and mistreated them, but he was gone.

What was the point of butchering his na now?

Well, why was he even surprised?

Han and Dan were well-practiced in this behavior.

Even in Borfan’s presence, they had habitually insulted him.

They were always probing for a reaction, perhaps even a confrontation, so they could have a go at their old man and finally taste the true extent of his strength.

But no matter how far they pushed, Borfan never engaged them, choosing instead to ignore their taunts as if they didn’t exist at all.

Dan’s already hardened expression turned even more severe.

"Who even is the kid? All we received was a letter from the old man stating he was going to perish soon by surrendering all his Ki to the ’hope of this universe.’ That was all we got."

Han paused his laughter for a mont, as his ribs had genuinely begun to ache from the exertion.

"Oh. Don’t forget the part where he insisted we shouldn’t attempt to harm the brat no matter what—unless we want our heads chopped off. Hahahaha!"

Dan scoffed, his lip curling in derision.

"Like, for real? Is that how much he underestimates our capabilities, or is he simply overestimating the boy?"

Han chuckled as he rose to his full, imposing height.

"Speak for yourself. I enjoy being underestimated a whole lot. It makes it far more entertaining when I finally strike my enemies. Kek! Kek!"

Da wasn’t even able to find an opening to interrupt.

These two were posing questions yet answering them simultaneously.

Why had he and Anna even been summoned here if they were just going to talk over one another?

Dan then shifted his focus, turning his head sharply in Da’s direction.

"When I conducted my research, I discovered that this sa youth was the one who took down Orion and laid claim to the Aetherian Faction—now rebranded as the Dawn Faction."

He paused for a fleeting second before glaring at Da, appearing as if he were trying to peer directly into his very soul.

"... Further investigation reveals that he is your ally, partner, or sothing of the sort. You were helping him market those pills that are oddly quite useful. And you were present on the day the forr leaders of the Aetherian Faction fell. Who is he?"

Han shifted forward slightly, his gaze falling on Anna this ti.

"And he was the individual who rescued our dear Anna when Da failed to do so. I would very much like to know who this stranger is—the one into whom Dad placed all the power that rightfully belonged to us."

Turning his head back to glance at his brother, he added:

"You do realize that we possess the strength to storm into his territory and drag him out. So just calmly disclose everything we need to know for us to reach a decision. Everything! His strengths and his weaknesses."

Da looked between Han, Dan, and Anna, wondering if his brothers were actually playing a ga with him.

Weren’t they the ones who had just acknowledged that the Supre Magus was his ally?

How was he supposed to betray his friend and disclose every secret to his loose-cannon brothers?

’Oh! So that was why I was called here, huh? This will be fun,’ Da smirked inwardly, a plan beginning to form.
