Feeling the sudden, violent shift in both weather and energy, the Generals all snapped their gazes upward imdiately.
It looked as though a catastrophic storm was approaching—and it was moving fast.
The entire sky darkened instantaneously, turning a bruised, ominous purple.
Lightning crackled through the thick clouds like predatory snakes, coiled and ready to bite down on their victims the mont the opportunity presented itself.
High above, Raze quickly directed the wind bird to dive away from the clouds' close proximity.
The creature surged downward, banking away from the massive army just in ti.
Even those fighting on the frontlines for Velzoria began retreating bit by bit.
The range of the overhead storm was imnse—spanning almost half the entire battlefield.
They understood instinctively that they could be caught in the crossfire of the impending assault if they didn't put enough distance between themselves and the target zone.
The remaining four thousand enemy soldiers were left in a state of utter confusion, looking around frantically and wondering what kind of nightmare was unfolding.
Tak—! Tak—! Tak—!
With each asured step Grey took, fresh screams tore through the air, causing the Generals to look toward the source of the outcries.
n were sinking into the ground as if being yanked downward by an invisible, irresistible force.
Each shriek was sharp and abruptly cut short.
It was as if the solid earth had suddenly transford into sentient quicksand, dragging the soldiers into the depths of the terrain.
The rest of the infantry tried to scramble away, dread clawing at their hearts.
So managed to react in ti; the ice mages quickly coated the soles of their boots with frost to combat the liquefying earth, while those gifted with earth magic tried to stabilize the ground beneath them.
They were resisting as best they could, pouring their mana into the soil to arrest their descent.
But it was all to no avail.
"Wh—What is going on?" The bald-headed General hadn't even finished whispering his question when the heavens scread in a deafening roar.
All eyes drifted upward to see the clouds glowing with a blinding intensity, and soon enough—
BANG—!
Humongous lightning pillars descended with blazing speed upon the thousands of n below.
Their eyes widened for a fraction of a second, shock etched into every feature as they watched the colossal white-blue bolts rocketing toward them with lethal velocity.
Instincts kicked in for so, and they dove to the side, though the sheer heat of the near-misses threatened to turn them to ash.
The more unfortunate ones were caught directly in the path of the divine wrath.
BAM—! BOOOOM—!
Sparks of electricity scattered in every direction as the bulk of the army was caught in the claws of an attack that electrocuted them from the inside out.
Eyes bulged incredulously as over two thousand n were seen spasming in a horrific, synchronized dance.
They shook uncontrollably, their very blood being fried within their veins by the overwhelming voltage.
Foam dribbled from the corners of their lips as their nervous systems collapsed.
Before those charred bodies could even hit the scorched ground, the survivors who had evaded the pillars suddenly froze in their tracks.
Overhead, a second cloud formation manifested.
This one didn't harbor a lightning storm; instead, a vast volley of ki swords hovered above them, shimring with deadly intent.
The soldiers gulped in unison at the sheer volu of blades suspended in the air.
Before a single scream could roll off their tongues, the swords descended with ruthless, chanical force.
Heads rolled before the first cry of agony could be uttered.
Blood sprayed across the battlefield in a macabre display of slaughter.
Not every man was caught in the rain of a thousand ki swords; a few lucky or exceptionally skilled individuals had managed to weave through the tallic downpour.
The Emperor, the enemy Generals, and the warriors of the Velzoria Kingdom watched in total, paralyzed disbelief.
A single man was systematically dismantling an army of thousands without so much as stepping into their midst.
He stood at a distance—casually glancing around the area as if it were a normal Tuesday.
He hadn't even moved an inch to control the chaotic barrage of attacks.
All he did was shift his gaze across the battlefield, and destruction rained from above in accordance with his sight.
The Emperor's eyes lit up in genuine amusent.
'Powerful. Truly, he earned the title 'Supre Magus'. I could achieve sothing like this, but with my current condition, I would risk death.
So far, he has only revealed his lightning affinity. But what are these yellow blades falling from the sky? They resemble so of the projectiles the Otherworlders utilized when they invaded.'
Turning his head, Julius stared at Grey for a few seconds with a flicker of doubt creeping into his mind, but he chose to dispel the thought for the mont.
The Generals, on the other hand, didn't even know how they were supposed to react.
Pure shock was etched across their features at the sight before them.
Who was this man? How could there be soone more powerful than the Emperor of this very Kingdom?
The bald-headed General's gaze sharpened in sudden recognition.
'Wait! Wasn't there a youth said to wield four affinities like the Emperor? But didn't the reports say that he was dead?'
His eyes stretched wide in horror as he took in Grey's features all over again.
'Is he… is he really the one?'
From the four thousand n left after the initial ten thousand, only a thousand remained the mont Grey decided to step onto the field.
Those thousand n looked around at their fallen comrades, their eyes wide with terror.
Hearts pounded like drums against their ribs.
Sweat dribbled down their faces as if they were drenched in a sudden rainstorm.
Their throats felt dry and parched, as if they were standing in a desert under an incredibly hot sun.
They were seen taking involuntary steps backward in a mix of confusion and dread.
Who truly wanted to face a literal demon?
A monster who casually erased three thousand n within re seconds.
They weren't foolish; they had families to care for.
Grey didn't speak.
He remained utterly calm as he watched the n turn around and, in a blind panic, begin to flee.
He just observed them for a second or two while the spasming soldiers from earlier finally collapsed to the ground with loud, heavy thuds.
"No use running. You can't outrun death," Grey uttered with a chilling coldness.
Pointing his finger forward, his index began to glow with a brilliant yellow light, and then—
Boooom—!
It shot forward with blazing velocity.
A small ball of concentrated Ki flew past the fleeing n and reached the very front of their line.
Crashing into the earth before them, the soldiers froze in confusion when the sphere didn't imdiately explode or cause damage.
Before they could even blink, however, there was a loud crash from above.
Glancing upward, they saw nothing coming at them.
Grey just smirked, and then—
KA—BOOOOM—!
A concussive blast so devastating erupted that, within a blink, their whole bodies disintegrated before they could even register what was happening.
Flesh was ripped from their fras like it was re clothing, leaving only their skeletons standing in a mont of utter confusion.
A second later, those remains crumbled to the earth like a stack of cards, leaving all mouths hanging open in disbelief.
"A—A—A De—Demon." The cracked-toothed General lost all composure as he stared at Grey, who hadn't budged from his spot at all.
"Oh yeah? If he is a demon, what shall I be called?" A chilling, otherworldly voice rang out from directly behind the Generals.
The mont the wave of dark aura hit him, the Supre Magus faltered.
Even before seeing what or who had spoken, he realized what was going on instantly as mories flashed through his mind in a split second.
'A demon is here?!'
