Deluo stood motionless, staring at the mage in front of him, his eyes fixed on Lynch’s pupils. After a while, he let out a long sigh, "I trust you..."
"Thank you," Lynch said with a smile.
"Scared to death, I thought you two had so kind of conflict." Little Nimo patted his chest, looked at the people sitting at the ends of the table, and finally relaxed when they ordered dinner together again from the "Stone Leg" owner.
As ti slowly passed, the three of them continued to stay at the inn, declining the invitation to move into the dedicated consultant rooms of the Dark Elf Family. During this ti, Lynch attempted to enter the Black Crystal Tower, but rely having the title of a family consultant was not enough to grant him smooth entry into its library—let alone closer to his true destination, the top of the tower where the Prophetic God Staff was located. Without orders or a task from a matron of the Dark Elves, he could not access anything within the tower.
Because it held the secrets of Dark Elf Magic, and a surface dweller who had yet to contribute to the family was unlikely to earn the matron’s trust or reward.
Therefore, Lynch was always looking for a good opportunity to deceive the matron into trusting him. In fact, the simplest way would be to join one of their raids against surface elves. As long as he fully exerted his strength and ambushed an elf camp, he could easily cause maximum casualties to those creatures. And this is sothing that can enhance the family’s standing in the eyes of the Spider Goddess, surely earning the matron’s reward. Moreover, the act of slaughtering elves itself further signifies betraying the Surface World.
But Lynch knew that if he did that, it could backfire. For a mage to engage in slaughter like a warrior contradicts the mage’s nature of maintaining nobility and mystery. The matron would naturally question the motives behind a mage’s actions and suspect if there was any conspiracy involved.
The most crucial reason is that Lynch would never partake in such an elf slaughter. Although he was a Drow Consultant, he was not a Dark Elf.
Thus, he simply cald down, studied spells, and crafted so magic items in his room. The first creation was a pair of Dark Vision lenses for Deluo, allowing him to see in the dark like a Dark Elf; the second was, upon Nimo’s request, a pair of shoes to increase walking and running speed. Nimo was initially overjoyed, but he apparently forgot that adapting to the newly enhanced speed would require a period of training. With "bang" and "thud" sounds echoing throughout the inn, Nimo returned with a bruised face from bumping into things.
"So painful..."
Lynch laughed and comforted Nimo; Deluo, on the other hand, had no reservations and rolled on the bed holding his stomach, laughing so hard he almost couldn’t catch his breath and couldn’t speak for a long ti.
And that opportunity to prove his value and gain the matron’s trust was quietly approaching the mage...
