August 17th

Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen were released yesterday, simultaneously launching alongside major dostic ga publishers.

The results were just as Liu Changqing had expected.

Very good.

Since there hadn't been any large-scale promotion, he already considered it a blessing to have reached this level of sales.

Both versions were completely sold out. Because of this, Liu Changqing promptly increased the supply by another 100,000 copies.

For an unknown small company, this was an outstanding achievent. The way Feng Qian grinned from ear to ear was enough to prove it.

Feng Qian was beyond thrilled.

No one knew where he got a bottle of champagne, but he burst through the door, his face practically shouting, I’m insanely happy!

He rushed up to Liu Changqing.

"Old Liu, we—!!"

"Alright, calm down."

Liu Changqing lightly pushed the overly excited Feng Qian aside, then stood up from his chair. His eyes landed on the champagne in Feng Qian’s hand, and he smacked his lips.

"Just one bottle? Sales are doing well—we should at least take the employees out for a get-together. It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t."

"Of course, we have to go!"

"Alright, after work, we’ll have dinner together, then hit up a karaoke place. It’s the weekend tomorrow, so let’s take a break and enjoy. I’ll go ahead and make a reservation."

After saying that, Liu Changqing walked out of the office.

Clapping his hands to gather attention, he addressed the employees.

"After work today, don’t rush ho. We’re having a company gathering. If anyone can’t make it, let know in advance."

For a brief mont, the room fell silent. Then, cheers erupted.

"Boss is generous!"

"Of course I’m free!"

"I'm eating ten tables' worth of food!"

Liu Changqing glanced at the guy who claid he’d eat ten tables, then after exchanging a few more words, he walked toward An Yuanyao’s office.

Gently pushing open the door, he saw her just setting down her teacup.

He walked up.

"We’ll be heading out a little later tonight—dinner first, then so karaoke. How about it?"

"Everyone’s going?"

She hesitated, then asked softly. Seeing Liu Changqing nod, she thought for a mont.

"After dinner, karaoke? I don’t really know how to sing… I’ll just listen while you all sing."

"That’s no fun. Singing isn’t that hard."

Liu Changqing pulled over a chair, sat down, and looked at An Yuanyao with a serious expression.

"I’ll guide you through a song. Since we’re going, you have to at least sing one."

As he spoke, a wave of confidence surged through him.

He had always considered himself a decent singer—not at the level of professional stars, but definitely among the top in everyday settings.

Back in university, whenever he went out for karaoke with his dorm mates, the microphone practically never left his hand.

Especially when he sang Exaggerated, which had made him sothing of a legend.

The only thing that puzzled him was why he was always rejected whenever he signed up to perform at school events.

Hearing Liu Changqing’s words, An Yuanyao grew curious.

"You can sing? You’ve never ntioned it before."

"My voice isn’t sothing that should be casually revealed."

"You must be really good then! I want to hear it!"

Curiosity is a powerful thing.

At first, An Yuanyao wasn’t particularly interested in whether Liu Changqing could sing.

But seeing the confidence on his face when he ntioned it, she couldn’t help but grow intrigued.

Seeing her excitent, Liu Changqing stood up, dramatically adjusted his collar, and cleared his throat.

A confident smile played at his lips.

"Since you’re so curious, I’ll perform a song I personally wrote and composed."

"You wrote and composed it yourself?"

An Yuanyao was stunned.

At the sa ti, her anticipation grew.

After a brief mont of surprise, she clapped her hands together in encouragent, smiling.

"Let’s hear it! Let’s hear it!"

"Alright, I’ll do my best."

Liu Changqing took a step back, putting so distance between them.

Grabbing a pen from the desk, he held it like a microphone.

Singing is all about emotion.

Without fully imrsing yourself in the song’s mood, you can’t convey the feelings behind the lyrics, nor can you create a genuine connection with the audience.

Closing his eyes slightly, Liu Changqing lowered his head.

His free hand naturally fell to his thigh, tapping lightly as he recalled the first ti he had heard this song in his previous life.

An Yuanyao stopped clapping, her eyes fixed on him, waiting quietly.

Her expression was filled with anticipation.

As if he had found the right emotional state, Liu Changqing slowly lifted the pen to his lips.

In a deep, resonant voice, he began.

"That year, at eighteen…"

Outside the office, the employees continued working, trying to wrap things up before heading out for dinner.

Feng Qian, holding the mysterious bottle of champagne in one hand and three plastic cups in the other, walked toward An Yuanyao’s office.

He knew Liu Changqing would be there.

But as he neared the room, he started hearing sothing strange.

At first, the sound was faint, barely noticeable.

But as he got closer, the voice beca clearer.

A voice so haunting it could only be described as demonic.

Then, suddenly, a howl of pure anguish—bordering on a rage-fueled roar—rang through the office.

Everyone outside flinched.

Every head turned toward An Yuanyao’s office, eyes wide with alarm.

"You!! Think I'm EXAGGERATED?!"

Feng Qian nearly dropped his champagne.

But he reacted the fastest.

"Old Liu, for the love of god, stop!"

Yelling, he kicked the door open.

Inside, Liu Changqing was in the middle of his performance, completely absorbed in the mont.

Interrupted by Feng Qian’s dramatic entrance, he frowned, visibly displeased.

"Why are you cutting off? I was at the best part!"

Standing at the doorway, Feng Qian looked at Liu Changqing.

Then, slowly, he lifted a finger—pointing at An Yuanyao.

Following the direction of Feng Qian’s finger, Liu Changqing turned his head.

He saw An Yuanyao’s face, pale as a sheet.

Though she still had a forced smile, the light had seemingly disappeared from her eyes.

"…"

Liu Changqing froze.

Realizing sothing was off, he quickly stepped forward, grasping her shoulders, and gently shook her.

"What’s wrong?"

"Ah…"

Snapping out of her daze, she found herself staring into Liu Changqing’s face, inches away.

The dullness in her eyes slowly faded.

After a brief pause, she chanically lifted her hands and clapped.

She had never been one to lie.

But this ti… looking at Liu Changqing, she muttered in a dazed voice.

"That was… really good…"
