Chapter 228 — WHEN HEAVEN STRIKES
For several seconds after the Jade Dragon shattered the prison, the sky went completely silent. Not the quiet of peace, but the quiet of calculation.
The six Executors hovered above the battlefield in perfect formation, their radiant wings stretched outward like vast blades of light cutting through the storm clouds swirling around the dragons. They did not react to the destruction of the cage or to the Jade Dragon’s roar. They simply observed, like judges deciding how much force was necessary.
Below, the Eight felt the shift imdiately. Han slowly stood up from the cracked rooftop where the last shockwave had thrown him and muttered that he did not like the silence. Nyx kept her gaze fixed on the sky and explained quietly that the Executors were recalibrating. When Han asked what they were recalibrating, her voice dropped slightly as she answered that they were adjusting the level of judgnt.
Above the battlefield, Long Hao hovered beside the Jade Dragon. The Eclipse Dragon’s black wings stretched across the storm while golden veins pulsed across his scales, the Sovereign System inside him adapting to the overwhelming divine pressure filling the sky. Beside him the Jade Dragon’s erald aura surged like a living storm.
For a mont neither dragon moved.
Then Long Hao glanced sideways and remarked that the situation had escalated quickly. The Jade Dragon’s voice rolled like distant thunder as it replied that the Executors would show no restraint now. Long Hao flexed his claws slowly and answered that neither would he.
High above them the central Executor stepped forward again and its voice echoed through the sky.
"Containnt failure confird."
The other five Executors spread their wings slightly as radiant light rippled outward from their bodies.
"Escalating to eradication protocol."
The words struck the air like a verdict carved into reality.
The Jade Dragon snarled and dared them to try as erald lightning erupted across the storm. Then one of the Executors moved. Toward the city.
It raised its hand and the clouds parted instantly. Above the ruined skyline a massive ring of white light appeared—perfect, circular—and the sky inside the ring turned completely white.
Below, Kovács’ sensors erupted with alarms. Her voice ca out hoarse as she reported a massive energy spike. Han asked how massive, and Kovács swallowed before answering that it was city-scale.
Above them the Executor spoke calmly.
"Erasure field initiated."
The ring of light expanded as a massive beam of pure white energy began forming at its center. It was not aid or directed; it was simply descending toward everything.
Long Hao’s eyes widened.
"...Oh hell no."
The Eclipse Dragon exploded forward as black wings surged through the storm.
"Eclipse Sovereign Charge!"
His massive body slamd into the Executor before the beam could fire. The impact detonated across the clouds and for the first ti an Executor was thrown backward. The radiant figure slid across the sky several hundred ters before stabilizing itself, and the beam above the city flickered.
Below, Han shouted in triumph. But the mont did not last. The Executor steadied itself midair as its wings expanded slightly and the white armor across its body shifted.
Then it spoke again.
"Adaptive resistance detected."
Long Hao hovered across from it, cracking his claws as he replied that such resistance happened when soone tried to erase a city. The Executor tilted its head and answered that collateral was irrelevant.
Long Hao’s golden eyes darkened as he replied that this was where they disagreed. The Eclipse Dragon lunged again. But this ti three Executors moved.
They appeared around him instantly—one above, one behind, and one in front—as their wings expanded and a triangle of radiant light ford between them. Long Hao felt the pressure imdiately as space folded inward like crushing gravity wells.
Inside his mind the system scread warnings.
[MULTIPLE DIVINE AUTHORITY FIELDS DETECTED]
Long Hao grunted that he had noticed as the triangle of light tightened and invisible force slamd into his wings, forcing his massive body downward several ters.
Below, Nyx’s voice sharpened as she explained that the Executors were using a containnt geotry to crush him between divine vectors. Han stared upward in disbelief.
Above them the Jade Dragon roared as erald lightning erupted across the battlefield. The massive creature surged forward and unleashed Erald Sovereign Cataclysm, sending a tidal wave of jade energy crashing toward the three Executors.
The shockwave shattered the triangular field instantly. The Executors scattered.
Long Hao shot upward again and thanked the Jade Dragon. The erald dragon snorted that he should not thank it, declaring that it simply refused to die inside a cage. Long Hao grinned and replied that he felt the sa way.
Above them the six Executors regrouped, their wings spreading across the storm like vast celestial blades.
The central Executor spoke again.
"Anomaly cooperation confird."
Long Hao tilted his head and asked if that was a problem.
The Executor answered calmly.
"Yes."
Then the sky opened again.
Six rings of radiant light ford above the battlefield, each one larger than the last and each burning brighter than the sun.
Below, Han stared upward and muttered that the Executors were not aiming anymore. Nyx’s voice dropped as she explained that they were preparing to erase the entire region.
The Jade Dragon growled as erald energy surged across its scales.
"They escalate."
Long Hao flexed his claws slowly.
"Well."
His wings spread wide as black-gold energy surged across the storm.
"So do we."
The Eclipse Dragon roared.
The sound tore through the clouds like a thunderclap breaking the sky.
Black-gold energy surged outward from Long Hao’s wings, spiraling across the storm like an expanding eclipse. The six radiant rings above the battlefield brightened in response, their light intensifying as if Heaven itself had accepted the challenge.
The Jade Dragon turned its massive head toward Long Hao. Erald lightning crawled across its scales. "So," it rumbled, voice low like shifting mountains. "You intend to fight Heaven."
Long Hao let out a sharp breath. "Didn’t wake up today planning to," he said dryly. His golden eyes lifted toward the six Executors above them."But they seem pretty determined."
The Jade Dragon snorted. "Then we break them." Below, on the shattered rooftop, Han stared upward. "...Did the dragon just say we?"
Nyx didn’t answer imdiately. Her eyes remained fixed on the storm. "No," she said quietly. "They declared war."
High above—
The six Executors raised their hands.
Radiant light gathered.
And the sky began to burn.
