Excitent

Christopher saw it before he sensed it.

Rather, he didn't sense it. Despite looking straight at the... thing, his senses didn't pick it up at all.

On the fringes of the area that was illuminated by his lantern, a figure lood ominously.

It seed vaguely humanoid. 'Seed' was used because the entity couldn't exactly be defined as it didn't seem to be there at all. In fact, Christopher was confident the entity wasn't humanoid at all, and the only reason he registered it as such was that his brain was trying to fill in the gaps and make sense of what he was looking at, despite the fact that his other senses didn't capture the entity in the first place.

Calling it unnerving was an understatent, and even Christopher had to drop his lax deanor.

Not being able to detect an opponent and their abilities was enough to put one on guard. But the fact that even now, Christopher's senses couldn't detect the thing that was right in front of him wasn't exactly good for staying calm.

He had tried to scan the thing nurous tis, but even with the lantern enhancing his senses, he detected nothing.

It was to the point that Christopher started to doubt his eyes and wondered if what he was seeing was an illusion conjured by the blizzard.

That would have made things so much easier, but the feeling of unease in his heart told him otherwise.

'And it's just standing there. And if it can completely evade my senses like this, then what if there are many more looming just beyond the reach of my lantern? What's their strength?' He narrowed his eyes. And that's when Christopher realized sothing that surprised him a little.

'I'm nervous.' The realization hit him like a truck.

The closest he had gotten to feeling nervous was when he fought the Void avatar and almost got his head sliced off. That and when he was put under the scrutiny of those powerful entities.

However, both tis, he only ever felt inconvenienced, bordering nervousness, but he was never truly worried as he always felt like things would work out.

He was still confident, but to have his senses so truly eluded was unnerving to the point that he was genuinely nervous, which was sothing he hadn't felt since he reincarnated.

The realization sent a myriad of feelings through him.

Yet there was an emotion that burned brightest among his other emotions, to a degree that surprised him.

Excitent.

'... What...?' When he ascertained how he was feeling, his body felt like it was buzzing.

'This intensity... it's just like that ti.' Christopher's mind returned to that ti he had lost it and nearly blew up a continent because he was infuriated by the terror tarantula killing so people.

That sa uncontrollable and all-consuming fire that was his emotions threatened to overtake him again. However, unlike that ti, he had an easier ti regulating himself and stopping himself from doing sothing drastic.

Still, it was enough for him to acknowledge that...

'This isn't normal.' He had previously dismissed the situation with the spider simply because it had never happened again. Between now and then, Christopher had experienced many things that should have in theory, developed a strong response.

However, that wasn't the case, and his usual, laid-back deanor never went away. That's why he decided to dismiss the scenario as a fluke.

However, now that it was happening again, he realized that sothing wasn't right. But why? What was the trigger?

He was so caught up in his thoughts that he completely ignored the entity before him. But for so reason, it didn't seem inclined to attack him in his distracted state, which was odd, but the thing was an oddity in itself.

Christopher thought long and hard, what could have happened to elicit such powerful emotional responses in his mind? He constantly flipped through his emotions to try and find a similarity between the two events, and after an instant in which he analyzed every detail between the two events, one connection stood out.

When he was looking for the terror tarantula and found the bodies of the people, it wasn't sothing he expected. However, he'd been surprised more than once, so that alone couldn't have been the determining factor.

What truly stuck out to him, however, was that both tis, he'd been made to feel in such a way he hadn't felt in a while.

For instance, Christopher couldn't recall the last ti he got angry before that instance. Even when he found out about Joan's betrayal, all he felt was emptiness.

However, that argunt was flawed as if the reaction was caused when he felt an emotion he hadn't felt in a long ti, then why was he feeling excited instead of nervous at the mont? After all, Christopher got excited whenever he had a good fight, so if that theory was correct, then what he should be feeling right now was a deep and uncontrollable sense of nervousness, yet instead of that, he was excited. He couldn't understand it, and he wasn't sure he'd understand it in a short amount of ti.

'Well, I'll have enough ti to ponder on it when I'm done with this thing.' Christopher stopped thinking about it. The excitent hadn't faded one bit and had only gotten fiercer as ti passed.

He knew that he could only quell it if he destroyed the entity, whatever it was.

"Let's see what you are exactly then." He grinned wildly behind his mask and summoned Scarlet and Norn.

Vazar tapped his armrest impatiently as he waited for news that the other Scions had arrived.

It seed odd at first glance since in the first place was ahead of schedule, so he didn't have any reason to be impatient. But Vazar had a nagging feeling in the back of his skull that was telling him to get moving as soon as possible.

And with the appearance of the Genesis Corps, this feeling of his was all but assured. So he wanted to get things dealt with quickly to avoid any mishaps. But those two stupid girls were taking so long!

"Milord... they are here." The Handler spoke respectfully and Vazar exhaled slightly. Finally.

A hologram appeared and two large entourages were approaching his entourage which had landed on the snow.

He smiled slightly and turned to the large windows. The blizzard was significantly closer now. However, it was still a few hours away, and this exchange shouldn't take longer than a few minutes.

"Let's go and et them." He said and calmly got off his seat. The mont he did, everyone in the room got off their seats as well. The timing was so clean that it seed as though they had rehearsed it beforehand, which they had.

However, one of the handlers was approximately 0.1 seconds slower than his colleagues in getting off his chair. An inconsequential ti.

SPLAT

Yet their head was still reduced to paste faster than one could blink.

Vazar looked at the body as it collapsed with a distasteful look on his face before snorting and moving on.

The other handlers paled, but they didn't look at the body or show any reaction to watching the colleague get killed in an instant, lest they end up the way he did.

The group walked out of the vessel just in ti to watch Constella's vessels land and all the flying beasts from Jenny's group touch down.

Vazar perfectly hid his irritation and put on his usual calm and collected smile. And put his hands in his pockets as he waited.

Not long after, two groups appeared to et him, and soon, the three groups had gathered once again.

However, as opposed to Vazar, the other two groups had seen better days.

Constella looked slightly disheveled, and while she managed to keep her dignified appearance, it was clear that she'd seen better days.

Jenny need not be elaborated on. The bandages on her arms were a dead giveaway to her condition, and the irritated yet slightly tired look in her eyes showed that she wasn't at her peak state.

This realization made Vazar giddy inwardly. He loathed the two unenlightened lowlifes to the core, and seeing them in any sort of distress was bound to make him happy, like suddenly seeing your favorite candy out of nowhere.

In fact, he considered fighting and killing them for a mont, but he killed the thought as soon as it appeared.

He had fought the two girls many tis before, and of those many tis, there were tis he had ambushed one or even both of them when they were off much worse than this, and he still failed to kill them.

Knew it would be the sa if he tried anything, so he staved off his bloodlust... for now.

"Glad to see you guys could make it!" Vazar chuckled and spread his arms as if he were expecting a hug, though all he received were two deadpan glares.

He sighed.

"Tough crowd. Well, no matter. Let's get to business, shall we?"
