Chapter 543: Chapter 31: Lin Ze’s Strategy
Elf won were all brought before the saint, each one’s breath weak, faces pale.
“How dare you assassinate soone right under my watch? Who gave you the audacity?!” The saint didn’t care much about the reasons behind Lu Hong’s assassination; what mattered to him was that his authority had been gravely challenged.
“Speak!”
Under the saint’s intimidation, one of the elf won couldn’t withstand the pressure and spoke up, “It was Master Lin Ze who instructed us to do it.”
“Lin Ze?” The saint was familiar with him; Lin Ze was the chief in charge of the thirteen city regions of Spring Fragrance Pavilion, and they had t a few tis.
“Why would he want to assassinate this human?”
“Master Lin told us that this man had discovered the secrets of our Spring Fragrance Pavilion, so… so he had to be eliminated!”
The saint’s brow furrowed slightly, “The secrets of your Spring Fragrance Pavilion?”
“It’s… it’s…”
Before the elf woman could speak, Lu Hong stepped forward and kicked her down. He had seen through their sche and couldn’t let the woman speak!
“What are you doing?!” The saint felt his authority challenged once again, his gaze locked onto Lu Hong.
In an instant, Lu Hong felt like he had been severely injured, retreating repeatedly, the overwhelming aura forcing him to kneel on the ground.
“Lord Saint, she must not speak! At least not in front of others!”
Jiutong Mountain was not very big, and such a commotion was enough to garner everyone’s attention, all eyes now turned to this spot.
The saint paid no attention to Lu Hong; instead, he continued to question the elf woman. “Continue speaking.”
“Lord Saint, it’s not right!” Lu Hong desperately cried out again but was t with another suppressive blow from the saint, crashing heavily into the ground, unable to move.
Pudas gritted his teeth, wanting to step forward and plead, but was deterred by the saint’s cold gaze.
With no further interruptions from Lu Hong, the elf woman then said, “Our Spring Fragrance Pavilion has a Secret Technique that can absorb the power within soone’s body through XXOO, and this human discovered our secret, so we had to eliminate him!”
“Absorb the power within soone’s body?” The saint’s face grew dark, and he raised his hand to seize the woman with whom he had previously perford XXOO, Divine Power invading her body.
Sure enough, a faint thread of Divine Power was wrapped in a mysterious force, isolated from detection; had he not investigated thoroughly this ti, the anomaly would have remained undiscovered.
“Damned creature!” The saint raged, his power had been stolen unknowingly?
With a slight exertion of force, the elf woman exploded into a shower of blood.
And the people atop Jiutong Mountain witnessed this scene clearly; the saint’s actions further corroborated the previous claims that these won from Spring Fragrance Pavilion were indeed stealing their power!
In an instant, shock and rage ignited everyone present.
“Lord Saint!” Bai He was especially infuriated, for he had indulged the most earlier.
“These won of Spring Fragrance Pavilion have committed great sins and should be executed!”
The saint paid no heed to Bai He, but instead turned to look at an incredulous Lu Hong, releasing him from suppression and saying, “Why did you try to prevent them from revealing the truth just now?”
“Now that everything has been pointed out, what use is there in explaining?” Lu Hong shook his head and said nothing more.
But the next second, a thunderbolt exploded from tens of thousands of miles away on the flanks of Jiutong Mountain, accompanied by the furious roar of a huge beast.
The roar, filled with terrifying Magic Power, caused the eardrums of everyone present to burst, bleeding profusely.
The saint’s expression changed slightly; he waved his sleeve to protect everyone, then shot up into the sky, “A God-level Demon Beast has been angered by soone; I’ll be back shortly. None of you move until I return!”
As they watched the saint leave, Lu Hong sternly led Pudas back to the tent.
“Big brother, what should we do now?” Pudas was also in turmoil; it seed Spring Fragrance Pavilion was supposed to keep its secrets well-guarded, so why would it expose itself so suddenly, so easily?
“Stop talking, let think.” Lu Hong was also unclear on the situation; it took him a while to figure out so hints.
“This ti, the problem is big.”
Lu Hong said gravely, “It’s not the intent of the higher-ups of Spring Fragrance Pavilion to expose the secret. There’s soone inside acting deliberately.”
“Why did they cut off their own escape route?”
“To survive!”
“Revealing secrets can help them survive?” Pudas was puzzled.
“Our earlier actions must have confused them, but precisely because of that, they were forced to choose another thod,” Lu Hong finally figured it out after racking his brain for half the night, “the multiple assassination attempts on cost Spring Fragrance Pavilion dearly. You and I then confused them further, making them believe I was unaware of their secret. Everything was a misjudgnt, but the losses faced by Spring Fragrance Pavilion had to be accounted for. The person responsible for dealing with would have to bear the punishnt. Yet, he didn’t want to take that punishnt, so he willingly revealed the secret at Jiutong Mountain. With the secret being spread, he could explain it away by insisting it was I who divulged it. The charge could then shift from misjudgnt to mishandling, reducing his bla and possibly even earning a reward for tily reporting. This must be Lin Ze’s plan!”
“But the secret was spoken by Spring Fragrance Pavilion’s own people, seen by everyone. It going out has nothing to do with you. How can it be pinned on you?”
Pudas’s words awakened Lu Hong: “Not good! Let’s leave this place quickly!”
“Hey, didn’t you hear the Heavenly God? No one should act rashly.”
“If you don’t leave, you will die!” Lu Hong said sternly, “Lin Ze needs to make it appear that I was the one who let the secret out, so he must ensure that everyone at Jiutong Mountain dies!”
“Then,,,,,then the ssage won’t get out either, will it?”
“There’ll always be a few servants who manage to miraculously escape, won’t there?”
Lu Hong’s words shocked Pudas. The Heavenly God was moved away too quickly, clearly indicating Lin Ze had already made his arrangents, the plan evidently already in action.
Jiutong Mountain will surely be invaded!
Without hesitation, both of them began to prepare to descend the mountain.
But unexpectedly, Bai He was arranging his guards to block the mountain trail: “Keep a strict watch! The Heavenly God said that no one is permitted to enter or leave; we must enforce the Heavenly God’s commands.”
“At your command!”
Yet unexpectantly, Pudas burst in.
Seeing the two trying to bypass the blockade to leave Jiutong Mountain, Bai He imdiately reprimanded, “Pudas! Have you forgotten what the Heavenly God said before he left?!”
“Shut up!” Pudas retorted angrily, “I advise you to descend the mountain quickly too. The Heavenly God may not be able to return soon, and danger is bound to arise at Jiutong Mountain.”
“Danger? The beast tide is widespread, the only danger is the beast tide. Although the Heavenly God has left, the defenses below are strong, and this is not the main direction of the Demon Beast attack. How can there be any danger?”
“That’s all I’m going to say.” With that, Pudas and Lu Hong left down the mountain.
Bai He’s expression darkened as he ordered, “Stop them!”
The soldiers imdiately blocked Lu Hong’s path, “By the order of Bai He, please return imdiately!”
“What if I don’t?” Pudas scoffed, “You are the Heavenly God’s guards. When did you beco Bai He’s subordinates?”
“We are just executing the Heavenly God’s orders,” the soldiers said flatly.
“Fine, then let tell you, Jiutong Mountain is about to be attacked. I hope you’re prepared.”
“Thank you for the warning, but you still need to return to the mountaintop with your human companions and wait for the Heavenly God’s return before you can leave.”
Lin Ze’s plan seed to be of a desperate, all-or-nothing nature, surely calling forth a powerful force. Although the defenses at Jiutong Mountain were strong, the deliberate target ant there was a thod to overco them. Ti was pressing, and Lu Hong could not afford to waste words with them. He kicked a soldier in the abdon, and with a burst of energy, grabbed Pudas and flew down the mountain.
Due to Lu Hong’s sudden attack, the soldiers hadn’t reacted when the two disappeared on the mountain trail. Just as they were about to pursue, they were stopped by the Commander of the Guards: “Let it be, no need to chase. We’ll report this matter once the Heavenly God returns.”
“Pudas is truly reckless! To defy the Heavenly God’s command!” Bai He muttered, yet he was also rapidly making plans in his mind, resolving to deal thoroughly with Pudas once the Heavenly God returned.
Half an hour later, two figures flew swiftly to the top of Jiutong Mountain.
The guards looked up, their expressions changing.
A thousand-foot wide flaming sun slowly gathered in the sky and then, following the motion of one of the n’s fingertips, plumted downwards.
“Solar Burst!”
Watching the falling skill, despair filled everyone’s eyes.
“Heaven…Heavenly God?”
A streak of white light flashed across the sky, and the next mont, a lofty pillar of fire surged towards the heavens.
The entire Jiutong Mountain was obliterated under the power of the Heavenly God’s skill…
