As the group approached the mansion, they couldn’t help but notice the bustling activity around them. Other players had also gathered, forming a winding line that snaked its way towards the entrance.
The atmosphere was charged with excitent and anticipation, a feeling shared by adventurers from various races and classes.
Victor surveyed the scene, his gaze sweeping over the diverse crowd. "It seems we’re not the only ones who are going to attempt this quest."
Xin’s eyes followed Victor’s gaze, taking in the sight of players from different corners of the virtual world. They were all united by a common goal –– the quest that promised to unlock the secrets of the Abandoned Dwarven Fortress.
Rever whistled lowly as he observed the crowd. "Wow, talk about competition. Looks like everyone’s after the sa thing."
Indeed, the line was a testant to the popularity of the quest.
Adventurers of all levels and abilities had co, their avatars representing various races, classes, and guild affiliations.
The mansion’s surroundings buzzed with activity, like a marketplace bustling with life. A diverse crowd of players had gathered, forming an eclectic mix of aspirations and motives.
Armor of various makes glistened under the sunlight, each bearing the emblem of renowned guilds. These individuals projected an air of professionalism, their gazes fixed ahead, set on the prize that awaited them.
In contrast, so appeared to treat the event as a re diversion, their deanor more relaxed. They conversed with companions, laughing and exchanging jokes.
These adventurers seed to be in it for the thrill, not placing excessive emphasis on the outco.
Among the players, Rever couldn’t help but point out notable figures. "Look, there’s Crystal Fla from the Phoenix Alliance. Heard he’s a swordmaster, and they’re gunning for the firstblood title. And over there is Starlight Serenade from the Celestial Harmony Guild. They’ve got their eyes on the treasures, I bet."
"Check that out," River pointed to a group of players huddled together. "That’s the Blood Hunters. They’re known for their tactical approach, and speed runs through dungeons. And see that tall gorgeous elf over there? That’s Mystique, a legendary archer who’s said to have never missed a shot."
Acknowledging Rever’s observations with a nod, Xin’s focus was montarily caught by a presence that stood out even in this crowd.
Mystique, much like Victor and Midnight Duchess, emitted an aura that hinted at her top-tier status within the ga.
What drew Xin’s attention even more was her striking mane of yellow-green hair that cascaded down her back like a vibrant waterfall. It held an uncanny resemblance to his classmate, Vivi’s, hair.
"Over there," Yuzuro added softly, "is the Radiant Guardians. They’re a renowned healing-focused guild. And I think I spotted so mbers of the Firestorm Brigade, famous for their fiery magic spells."
"Looks like we’re in for a tough competition," Victor said with a laugh.
While Xin scanned the crowd, his eyes caught the lingering gazes of a few players, their expressions anything but amiable, particularly directed at Midnight Duchess.
He assud they weren’t on friendly terms with her, but he chose not to ddle in whatever tensions they held.
With the line inching forward gradually, the group’s attention remained fixed on the players surrounding them.
The air was charged with a palpable sense of tension, an unspoken agreent that they were all adversaries vying for the sa treasures and firstbloods.
Rever echoed what Victor said before with a cocky grin, his eyes narrowing as he evaluated the players nearby. "Looks like we’ve got so serious opposition."
Victor’s voice cut in with a note of caution and playfulness. "Be prepared. It seems we won’t only fight monsters and bosses."
Unfazed, Rever’s smile widened. "Well, I’m ready for a brawl anyti!"
"You’re always itching for a fight," Yuzuro chid in.
As the line gradually moved forward, it was finally their turn.
Before they could knock on the door, it swung open, revealing a short figure cloaked in rich fabrics. A scene that was repeating for all the players who were asking for the quest.
The Earl was a dwarf of distinguished presence, with a long white beard that reached his chest and eyes that held a mixture of wisdom and weariness. His attire was regal, adorned with gems and precious tals, a testant to his noble lineage.
"Welco, esteed travelers," the Earl’s voice resonated like distant thunder, his keen eyes sweeping over each mber of the group. "I sense a purpose in your arrival. Is it the quest for my father’s coffin that brings you to my halls?"
In unison, Xin and the others exchanged a brief yet uncertain glance; none among them had delved into this storyline before.
Stepping forward, Victor assud the role of the spokesperson. "Indeed, your Grace," he responded, his tone carrying a respectful undertone. "We co seeking your guidance to uncover the path leading to the coffin."
For a mont, the Earl’s gaze seed to linger on Midnight Duchess, studying her in a way that seed to delve beyond her exterior. His narrowed eyes gave little away, and then, as if reaching a conclusion, he nodded with apparent satisfaction.
Xin couldn’t decipher the reason behind the Earl’s prolonged inspection, whether it was her formidable level or her unique race and class that intrigued him.
Or was it a requirent that there was at least a player over a hundred level mark that would do the quest.
The Earl’s next words resonated like a solemn decree. "Very well. The ti has co to lay my father to rest and honor the legacy of my lineage. You shall traverse the forsaken castle, facing its trials and terrors, unearthing the key to unlock the chamber that shelters my father’s coffin. This will be no easy task, as traps and all manners of creatures will oppose you. But of course, you will handsoly rewarded once you finish the quest. Do you accept this challenge?"
Xin and his companions nodded in agreent, and a notification materialized on their screens.
