Chapter 1587: Chapter 1587: Encounter
Li Yao didn’t use any other techniques; instead, he directly used “Lotus Blooms with Every Step,” offsetting the falling damage effortlessly as he moved gracefully like he was strolling through a garden.
Tong Tong, about to land, imdiately cast a totem. Her descending body suddenly hovered less than a yard above the ground. Then, the totem disappeared, and Tong Tong landed steadily.
The Green Dragon Princess, however, was much more carefree. She transford into her humanoid form and teleported right beside the three of them.
Li Yao’s expression changed: “Princess, it’s fine for you to transport us here, but why are you risking yourself to join us in the adventure?”
“As a mber of the Guardian Clan, why should I fear danger? If I were afraid of death, I could just apply to protect the Sacred Land or the Dragon Sleep Temple. Those places are safer than anywhere else,” the Green Dragon Princess said.
Li Yao chuckled. Is the Dragon Sleep Temple truly absolutely safe? It’s not necessarily so. In the past, two major incidents happened there.
One was a major internal rebellion, and the other was an invasion by external enemies that caused massive losses to the Dragon Clan. Of course, Li Yao wouldn’t voice these thoughts out loud.
Still, the Green Dragon Princess’s courage was comndable. In this divine realm, being a King or leader was not just a matter of high status—it also ca with extre danger.
During major battles, the highest leaders were always at the forefront, leading by example. And Princes and Princesses specifically sought out danger to resolve it. It was starkly different from the ancient Kings and Princes in real-world history.
“I didn’t expect that, under these conditions, even the steam is impacting my Divine Eye’s effectiveness.” After focusing on the Molten Mountain Dragon, Li Yao noticed that the range and clarity of his Divine Eye’s effects had significantly decreased.
“Then we need to be extra careful. Based on what you can see, where exactly is the node from our position?” the Enchantress asked.
“This small platform isn’t very large. Follow forward—it’s not too far. However, based on my judgnt, in fifteen minutes, the Molten Mountain Dragon will start moving. When that happens, this flat surface will turn vertical,” Li Yao replied.
“So, we only have less than fifteen minutes,” she confird.
“Exactly. We must destroy this node within fifteen minutes. If we fail, there won’t be enough ti to locate and destroy the remaining nodes,” Li Yao said.
The Molten Mountain Dragon isn’t a static object. If we’re unlucky and land on a spot where it moves, what started as a flat surface could turn vertical—or worse, we could fall into stone crevices and be crushed into pulp.
Just as the Green Dragon Princess was about to say sothing, Li Yao imdiately made a silencing gesture, then gestured further to indicate soone nearby.
The group instantly fell silent, following Li Yao and hiding behind a rock.
Steam was billowing all around, drastically reducing visibility so they couldn’t see far into the distance.
Monts later, a faint voice reached their ears: “That’s odd. I definitely heard sothing. Where did they go?”
“Shut up,” another voice scolded.
Li Yao saw the speaker being kicked by the other person, sending the two individuals rolling to the ground.
The Holy Paladin who’d spoken quickly realized his mistake and fell silent. In this area, even the team communication channel couldn’t be used—only normal conversation was possible.
No further explanation was needed; everyone was there to destroy nodes. Unless they belonged to the sa guild or party, encountering one another inevitably led to conflict. There were a limited number of nodes, and competitors vying for “first kills” could never coexist peacefully.
Li Yao made a gesture for Tong Tong and the Green Dragon Princess to stay put, considering their vocations made moving without noise nearly impossible.
Moreover, the mist was so dense that it was difficult for shadows to cast on the ground, preventing Li Yao from instantly teleporting to his opponents’ shadows.
As for the Enchantress, not being able to see her targets ant she couldn’t use her shadow-swapping technique “Transplanting Flowers and Trees.”
Li Yao signaled for the Enchantress to follow him, and the pair silently and carefully approached the two combatants in the mist.
It was obvious the two individuals were high-ranking mbers of the sa guild, as both had the sa guild leader.
After their roll, they positioned themselves behind raised rocks, showing their wealth of combat experience. Clearly, Li Yao’s group wasn’t their first encounter here.
One was a Holy Paladin, and the other a warrior—both lee fighters who didn’t dare breathe heavily at the mont, carefully watching each other’s backs.
When Li Yao and the Enchantress finally entered their line of sight, Li Yao was already less than ten yards away.
The Holy Paladin shouted, “Behind you!”
Like a taut bowstring, the warrior imdiately dashed away. Survival was the key to victory.
He was fast, but Li Yao was faster. Just as the warrior was fleeing, Li Yao teleported beside him. A mont later, the spot Li Yao had previously stood was struck by a Golden Holy Light Warhamr, creating a small crater. The Holy Paladin had unleashed a control skill, attempting to immobilize Li Yao.
By then, Li Yao’s single-handed sickle had already pierced through the warrior’s back. The second sickle transford into two flying sickles—one struck the back of the warrior’s neck to finish the kill, while the other interrupted the Holy Paladin’s attempt to cast a Holy Healing Spell for his teammate.
“Damn it, Prairie Fire! I’ll rember this grudge!”
The Holy Paladin cursed furiously. His teammate, the warrior, was an elite expert, yet he’d been killed in re monts. Considering their similar levels of skill, the Paladin knew he stood no chance against Prairie Fire.
He also spotted the Enchantress behind Li Yao, her figure partially obscured by his shadow, and his desire to fight vanished completely. Instead, the Holy Paladin turned and fled.
At the sa ti, he activated his Invincible Holy Shield, the entire sequence executed swiftly without any hesitation, showcasing his decisiveness.
His plan was simple: as long as he survived, there was still a chance to destroy nodes. Having studied Li Yao’s thods, he understood that Li Yao’s actions were always calculated; surely, there was a nearby node. Escaping first and then strategizing was his best course of action.
His plan was indeed clever and his actions decisive—but spotting the Enchantress ant the Enchantress had also spotted him.
The Enchantress quickly ford a handprint, swapping places with the Holy Paladin in an instant.
The Holy Paladin’s expression twisted in horror, but with his Holy Shield active, he wasn’t too panicked. He swung his greatsword toward Li Yao.
However, as if Li Yao had eyes on his back, his “Darkness Touch” skill coiled around the greatsword, suspending the Holy Paladin mid-air.
“Trying to escape? I’m afraid you won’t succeed,” Li Yao said with a faint smile.
“Release , and let’s settle our grudge once and for all,” the Holy Paladin began, but before he could finish, Li Yao kicked him firmly in the Holy Shield barrier.
Even with the barrier cushioning the blow, the Holy Paladin felt the overwhelming force behind the kick.
He stood no chance of resisting—it sent him flying.
“You’re too late. My apologies,” Li Yao said calmly.
“Damn your mother!” the Holy Paladin cursed furiously as he tumbled over a thousand yards. Despite his anger, he felt so relief. Thanks to the Holy Shield, the kick had rely separated him from Li Yao’s group, which he considered a lucky outco.
But the next mont, his relief turned into despair…
