Arielle disappeared behind the kitchen. Aie asked her brother whether she should follow Arielle or not. Kale suggested to Aie to help the queen and keep her from being too tired. However, when Aie was just about to stand up, Arielle ca back and said that Aie and Kael were forbidden to set foot in the kitchen until she was done with her business.
Elsewhere, Irene hugged her body, which was starting to feel cold. The carriage had left the naval base, and the four of them headed south to where the port city was.
Even though it was separated by the forest, and they had to pass through it before going to the main road, the road that connected the naval base to the port city was well lit. This city was one of the active cities in Northendell. Apart from being a place for nurous ships to dock, this place was not taxed, so that more people traded in this place. However, if they left this place, they would be charged for tax.
Just like the trade route that Ronan had just created and operated, as long as the traders sold in the area, their inco wouldn’t be taxed. It was different when they visited other cities. The result of their trade that was sold in other cities would be taxed.
The purpose of this place was actually to attract more economic activists to visit.
Ronan was aware that in the last few years, the population of Northendell had been decreasing. Besides, in the last few months, the number of people affected by hypothermia to those who had managed to open their flow of mana was getting jumbled up so that it would complicate Northendell’s condition in the future.
Thus, in exchange for its slowly dwindling population, Ronan used the developnt of the economy to attract more people to co and visit Northendell.
Lazarus invited Ronan to leave their horses and Irene’s carriage at one of his friend’s houses there. Ronan was wearing a casual outfit with a cloth covering his face because if he wore a mask, most people would recognize him right away.
Ronan approached Irene who got off the carriage assisted by William. He then offered his hand. He didn’t want Irene to hold hands with Lazarus or William. Besides, Irene was no longer awkward to accept her brother’s helping hand.
"Where are we going?" William asked Lazarus.
Without needing to be asked, their goals were clear. It was the town square, a place where many people sold their goods.
This square was warm enough even without using priests to warm up the place, unlike the festival in the capital. This place was also busier than the royal capital. If Arielle wasn’t resting, his wife would have loved visiting this place.
Nurous humans with different origins and clothes gathered, selling the various kinds of goods that they brought from their respective places.
"Is there anything you want to try?" Ronan asked his sister.
Irene was quite hungry, so she was tempted to try different types of food. However, she didn’t know what food was suitable for her tongue. She then asked for the opinion of Lazarus who knew more about this place.
Lazarus suggested a simple tavern selling moderate portions of seafood, so Irene could buy a lot and taste all the variations. Finally, they arrived at the tavern Lazarus was referring to. It was very crowded with people, and Lazarus asked Ronan, Irene, and William to find a seat while he would et the owner in person.
William found a spot by the window. Behind them was also a father who bought his son food. Both of them seed to really enjoy their al. They joked around intimately until the adorable laughter of the boys behind them was heard all the way to the table they chose.
Lazarus ca back and sat down together on the sa seat that William was sitting on. Lazarus was a regular custor, so every ti he ordered food, he would get priority to be served first.
Irene wasn’t too concerned about having her face shown. The public saw her for the first ti during Arielle’s coronation celebration. That was, if they knew her. anwhile, Ronan still covered his face.
"This place is quite crowded," said William while looking around.
"Because the food here is really good. I always make ti to eat here when visiting the naval base."
Irene looked out. Across the street, she saw a pair of an older brother and a younger sister selling fruits that she had never seen before. The man had very beautiful blonde hair.
He took off his jacket, which he gave to his younger sister. Then, he put his coat back on and covered his blond hair when a buyer stopped at the place they were selling.
"Oh, he doesn’t have a hand," Irene muttered when she saw one of the man’s arms was cut off.
William, who was sitting across from Irene, also looked in the sa direction.
"Princess, do you want to taste the fruit?" asked William.
Ronan also turned around and saw across from them, there was a person selling strawberries, grapes, and plums.
"It’s a fruit that grows a lot in the Nieverdell Kingdom, where Arielle is from. They are quite delicious. We can buy it when we finish eating," Ronan said, making Irene’s eyes light up.
Since earlier, Irene was very curious about the taste of those fruits. Seeing people’s faces frown and then smile after tasting it made her even more curious.
The food arrived after no more than waiting for twenty minutes. Ten kinds of dishes had been served, and four empty plates were distributed to everyone at the table.
"Enjoy your al, Lord Lazarus. We are very happy to have you visit again. It has been so long. You also bring your friends this ti," said a chubby woman wearing an apron with short, curly hair.
Ronan looked up to see the woman then moved away his face again.
"Ah yes... they are my family. This is Willian, Madam mi. He was here a few years ago."
"Oh, my gosh! William D Ashryver? It is an honor for us to have your visit," added the woman.
