It was an incredible fortune for a dragon like him to have a beautiful mate like Violet, but Luffy also had a hard ti enduring the pitying looks the other dragons gave to Violet when they knew that he and Violet were both mates.
Perhaps for Luffy, it was a blessing, but most of the dragons thought that Violet was the unluckiest dragon to get him as a mate. Violet’s cries were still ringing in Luffy’s ears and he always felt guilty whenever he t that woman.
How could Violet not be sad? For decades, she was predicted to be Maxieno’s mate. The son of ra was the greatest dragon of all tis. A candidate for guardian of Birwick Mountain and had the hottest flas of all the dragons. Maxieno was a handso dragon, and Violet was a beautiful dragon. They fitted each other.
"Then, did Maxieno run away here because he didn’t accept that Violet was your mate?" Arielle asked Luffy.
Luffy shook his head. "No, it’s because Otis introduced him to one of the dragon princesses from the Thebis Desert."
"Thebis Desert?"
Luffy explained that outside Birwick also lived various kinds of dragons. In Birwick, the majority were ruled by fire dragons. The kind of dragon that spouts flas and was at the top of the hierarchy. Then, there was the water dragon, but the water dragon was nothing compared to Maxieno’s flas. Maxieno was able to defeat the water with his flas.
There were also desert dragons that could neither emit flas nor freeze water. They could only harden their bodies. Thus, the other dragons often looked down on desert dragons and referred to them as desert lizards.
Maxieno was irritated and started to wonder who his mate was. Why, for hundreds of years, did he never et his mate? Then, Otis told Maxieno to wait a few more years, but he was being attacked again. Maxieno kept spitting his flas in anger. Otis then invited one of the dragon princesses of the Thebis Desert to be introduced to Maxieno.
"I thought the Dragon Princess of the Thebis Desert is quite beautiful, but Violet is prettier indeed. And Maxieno destroyed the eastern castle in the blink of an eye. He was furious because he felt that Otis was insulting him by setting him up with a desert lizard, that’s what Maxieno had said."
Arielle shook her head in disbelief. The man couldn’t keep his mouth at all. Saying such evil things in front of a woman must have made the Thebis Desert Dragon Princess feel sad.
"Then, Maxieno ran away and said he would not return to Birwick until the dragons of the Thebis Desert left."
"What about the dragons of the Birwick Desert? Aren’t they offended?" asked Arielle.
Luffy shook his head. "Maybe they are used to the discrimination, so when Otis bowed down to apologize, they just smiled and went back ho. I, who escorted them through the portal, saw the princess sobbing hard. I really feel bad for them," Luffy replied.
Maxieno... that dragon was really atrocious. Arielle could not scold the man considering that Maxieno also looked down on humans. Perhaps the man would also spit out his flas on her if she interfered.
Arielle hoped Maxieno would quickly et her mate, or at least the man t soone that could stabilize his emotion. She couldn’t imagine the hardships Otis went through when he had to deal with a baby trapped in an adult body like Maxieno.
Then, the door to the room where Arielle and Luffy took a rest was knocked from outside. A guard said that Otis and Maxieno wanted to et Arielle. She nodded in approval. Luffy imdiately stepped aside to make way for Maxieno to sit on a high place.
Arielle saw Otis who looked thinner.
"So, how?" She asked.
Maxien snorted. Arielle made room for Otis to also sit down with her.
"Maxieno and I will be returning to Birwick right now. The misunderstanding between us has been resolved. I want to apologize to you if Maxieno has troubled you for the past week."
Arielle shook her head. "No... not at all, Lord Otis. Maxieno is being very nice here," she replied.
Otis then reached into his pocket and pulled out a thick book with a red snowdrop on the cover.
"What is this, Lord Otis?" Arielle asked in confusion.
"A dragon from the Thebis Desert gave this to . He said this is a book left by Princess Cecil. They have guarded it for hundreds of years and news of you has been heard among the desert dragons. They turned out to be a group of dragons protecting Princess Cecil from the pursuit of King Theodore. That’s why they want to return it to you," Otis explained with a faint smile on his face.
Arielle touched the thick book and opened it slowly. The book was full of very neat writing. It was like a diary, and it all started when Princess Cecil was born.
"Thank you, Lord Otis. I will take very good care of it," Arielle said then put the thick book on her lap.
She then turned towards Maxieno.
"You’re leaving now?" Arielle asked.
"Yes. You’re happy, right? Because after this, you can laze around and relax without taking care of these eggs."
"Lord Maxieno... You have known Princess Arielle. I’m sure Princess Arielle will take good care of Abigail’s children," said Otis, making Maxieno frown.
"Thank you for your visit, Lord Maxieno. It’s an honor for and my husband. If you miss your human friend again, you can co here again whenever you want," Arielle said with a small smile.
"Friend? With you, human? Tch, you’re even lower than a desert lizard! I’d rather lick the ground than consider you my friend!" Maxieno said then stood up and left the room.
Arielle exchanged glances with Otis and Luffy. Otis had given up. He could only apologize for Maxieno’s rude attitude.
"Then I’ll go back first, Arielle. Take care of yourself."
