"Hm... so it is like that."
Ronan didn’t want to fuel Arielle’s jealousy any more. Knowing that the girl was jealous made Ronan happy, but behind her jealousy, Arielle must have felt anxious. Ronan didn’t want to make Arielle think too much about unnecessary things.
Ronan had to admit, Aie had a better family than Arielle’s. Aie’s parents chose a man who had the sa background as her family, not a creepy old man her father choose like Duke Pellington.
Aie’s parents pampered their daughter and gave her a proper education. anwhile, the Niervedell royal family ignored Arielle’s existence.
"Hm... a whole family doesn’t guarantee soone happiness, Arielle. Aie does have a more caring family, but that doesn’t an she’s happy. Both of Aie’s parents are strict, and that often makes Aie feel uncomfortable. What you see on the outside is not always beautiful."
Arielle nodded. She understood what Ronan ant. It was the sa as how people saw her. So Nieverdell people saw her as a princess, the youngest daughter of King Hugo, who never appeared in public. That’s it. They didn’t see what was going on behind the palace walls. They didn’t know how her family treated her.
Arielle should be able to think more maturely, yet she recklessly concluded it without knowing the truth behind it.
"Besides, Aie has two older brothers, but they don’t really care about their younger siblings, including Kael. Even though the man looks like a family man, what could be expected from soone as cold as Kael? He didn’t even know the man who would marry his sister was. Her second brother was the sa. He is so ambitious to prove himself that he forgot about his little sisterr’s existence."
"Lord Kael doesn’t love Aie, even though Aie is his sister?"
Hm... how should Ronan say it without offending Arielle? Not that Kael didn’t love Aie. Kael loved Aie. It was just that Kael was a quiet guy who found it difficult to express his feelings.
Kael was the awkward type who wasn’t used to being close to won. While Ronan, William, and Lazarus enjoyed their teenage years for fun, Kael preferred to take care of the three of them.
Maybe if Ronan didn’t have a past with won, he would beco a clumsy guy like Kael.
Unlike Alexis or Archie, who used their siblings for their own needs, Kael took care of Aie from afar. He would only help if Aie was in trouble. Like when Aie ran away from ho, Kael ca to pick up the girl.
However, he didn’t want to interfere in Aie’s affairs, such as asking for her wellbeing or the man the girl would marry.
"Kael certainly loves Aie, but he doesn’t really care about things like that."
Arielle nodded again. She could imagine how Kael treated Aie. Contrary to William or Lazarus, who were more honest about their feelings, Kael preferred to keep his feelings to himself, as Arielle often did. So, she quite understood it.
"And one more..."
"Yes?"
"Having mories with in the past doesn’t an she is close to , Arielle. I’d rather not talk about my past. I like myself better now."
Ronan and Arielle thought about different things. The past Ronan said was about him having many won, while Ronan’s past in Arielle’s mind was about the man’s family who had inflicted a trauma that would never heal completely.
Arielle nodded again, feeling that she had nothing more to worry about. It included the talk of being jealous of other won.
"But honestly, I’m glad you’re jealous."
Ariel took a deep breath. "But I’m not jealous..."
"Okay."
Ronan shrugged his shoulders, then put his hands under Arielle’s knees.
"It’s late. You should rest. You’re busy tomorrow, aren’t you?"
Ronan carried Arielle back to her room. The girl needed enough rest because tomorrow she had to study so important things. He didn’t want Arielle to think of unnecessary things that would disturb Arielle’s quality of sleep.
***
The next day Arielle t with Priest Elis to learn so important things about the Cathedral. Arielle was invited to get acquainted with several high priests besides Priest Jill. Priest Elis also told her about important annual agendas of the Cathedral.
Arielle already knew quite a bit because she had visited the Cathedral many tis during her stay in the North. Priest Elis taught her how to evaluate the achievent of the priest apprentices. Arielle knew Namina. She had t him before. Namina was quite active on all occasions. He also had high scores compared to his peers.
"About the daily needs of the Priests, do I also need to receive the financial report?" Arielle asked.
"That’s right, Your Highness. The Queen has the responsibility to inspect and handle the cathedral’s finances."
"In that case, may I have a look at the history of the past financial reports? I want to study it..."
"I’m sorry if I offend you, Your Highness, but isn’t it too fast? We can start with the basics. I would be happy to teach you about many things in the Cathedral."
"I will accept whatever you will teach . I will study the reports at night because I have a lot of free ti," Arielle replied.
"Well, then I will prepare the latest reports and deliver them to your room tonight."
"Thank you, Priest Elis."
After conveying what Arielle needed to know, Priest Elis took the princess back to the Whitethorn Palace for an afternoon break. With Tania and Aie, Arielle spent her lunch in her room.
"After this you will et Lord Gipp, Duke of Lamberkin," Aie said, making Arielle stop sipping her tea.
"Lord Gipp?" Arielle asked. That na sounded unfamiliar to her.
"Lord Gipp is Lazarus’ father, Your Highness." Aie took out a letter with the Duke of Lamberkin’s symbol on it. It said that Lord Gipp wanted to et Arielle.
For what purpose did Lazarus’ father want to et her? Arielle didn’t know if Ronan knew about this or not, but she agreed to et Lord Gipp after lunch.
