"I found a good book for you, wait here a mont," said Ronan, then disappeared into the row of bookshelves in front of Arielle.

Arielle was quite curious, but she waited patiently while looking at her surroundings. Red blush flickered on her cheeks as she recalled her kissing session with Ronan in this place.

"This is it..."

Ronan handed her a book with a red cover. It was Priestess Unor’s Journal written on its cover.

"Priestess Unor?" asked Arielle.

"She was a priestess during my great-grandfather’s reign. She had traveled all over the continent and returned ho to beco a queen."

"A queen? Does... that an she is your great-grandmother?" she asked.

Ronan nodded and took out another book about his family tree. Arielle accepted the book and looked at it with great interest. There were several nas crossed out in the pedigree chart.

"Why are there so many crossed out?" asked Arielle in confusion.

"Because they are gone and most of them have left the North."

"I don’t quite understand? Aren’t they part of the royal family? Why did they leave their own kingdom?"

Ronan paused and reread the family nas. He shook his head. Arielle couldn’t see his expression because of the mask, not even his eyes could be seen.

"Not all of them. Most of them didn’t want to have anything to do with the royal family. So of them carried out treason, and they were killed. There are also those who treat the people under their rule as they please, so I have to drive them away from the North."

As a king, Ronan had a lot of power to govern the Northendell Kingdom. Although part of him was a monster, that didn’t beco a reason for him to abandon his responsibilities.

He was born in this cold kingdom and beca a king at a very young age. He couldn’t put much trust in the people around him because many of his family tried to dethrone him, and all Ronan could do to survive was give them a stern warning without rcy.

If Ronan showed any sympathy, they would take the opportunity. He hated it the most when he was taken advantage of.

Ronan couldn’t tolerate any kind of mistake. He didn’t care which noble family he was dealing with because if they dared to act outside their control, he would step in to drag them down to the bottom line.

For him, anyone could be royalty. Just gave soone better clothes and status, and society would see that person as a new noble.

"Isn’t this William’s surna? William is your distant cousin?" asked Arielle, pointing to one of the lines of surnas that had been crossed out.

"William is my distant family. Still a descendant of my great-grandmother, the Queen, and also Priestess Unor."

"Then, why are their nas crossed out?"

"William’s family was one of those families who didn’t like the way I ruled the kingdom. They said I was too young, and suggested that they would beco the highest person in the kingdom in terms of making decisions. I was seventeen years old, of course, I was still learning to be a king. However, I always have the principle of not trusting anyone including my own family, so I rejected their suggestion, and they chose to leave the North."

William’s family was one of the families who disliked Ronan and declared that they would no longer officially support Ronan and leave the North.

Who knew what made William stay in the North. Perhaps if William had not left his family, he would have beco a successor to the Duchy outside Northendell.

Arielle took Ronan’s hand and held it tightly. She might not be able to see the expression the man was making, but she could hear a slight tremor in his voice. Ronan had tried his best to stay strong up to this point, and Arielle would always support him.

"What is it?" asked Ronan in confusion because Arielle suddenly grabbed his hand.

Arielle just smiled and then shook her head.

"Nothing. I just want to share the warmth with you," she answered briefly as she read another row of nas in the royal family tree.

Ronan was slightly taken aback by Arielle’s warm attitude. The man rested his head on the girl’s shoulder as he let out a long sigh.

"Do you think William hates ?" he asked.

Ronan and William never talked about this. The two of them were indeed very close, but it seed that for this matter he could not bring himself to ask William.

They had been together since childhood and spent ti as friends during their education at the academy. However, Ronan never tried to be friends with him. It’s just William who always dragged him so they beca close eventually.

Only with Arielle could Ronan begin to open up.

Arielle chuckled softly and closed the book of the royal family’s tree.

"If William hated you, would he be here now?" she asked again.

"Um..." Ronan beca doubtful. "But from the start, he didn’t have a strong reason to stay with in the North. Maybe for Kael and Lazarus, they stayed because their family are still part of Northendell."

"Ronan," Arielle called softly. "I can’t really say much because I’m not in your position. However, if I was given the choice of whether to stay with Archie, my family, or with Sasha and Tania, then I would prefer to be with Sasha and Tania. Even though we are not related by blood."

"Because Archie used to be one of those people who didn’t care about you?"

"Nope, because with Sasha and Tania I will be happier. Maybe William felt the sa way. He feels happier when he spends ti with you."

Really? But from what perspective William is happier with him? All Ronan do was make him do all his job.

Ronan recalled how his first eting with William was. They only beca acquainted as distant cousins at the age of six, and they two entered the sa academy at the age of seven.

William and Lazarus had been friends long before. At that ti, Ronan did not care about having friends or not. He was a prince, and all he did was pass the ti, pursuing perfect academic scores so his father could recognize him as the sole successor of the throne.
