Isabella was hurt and shocked by her words. However, Freya was telling the bitter truth. But the only lie was there about her intention. She never wanted to be favoured by Silas. In fact, she didn’t want to even co here until Silas forced her. No matter how powerful a woman is, she was deeply hurt by those words about her infertility. To a woman, it was a sensitive topic.
At that ti, Jessica’s words rang inside her thoughts. Sotis, it was necessary to show people her real place to not let them, walk down to you. Isabella held her tears stubbornly. After taking a deep breath, she rebuked sharply,
" I guess, you are forgetting your place, Miss Burton! I am a princess and will never change the fact. You have no right to be disrespectful to .About the dress and seducing the Duke, you can ask him by yourself. It has nothing to do with . Next ti, if you try to insult blindly, I will have no choice but to inform the Duke of your behavior."
Grabbing another glass, Isabella headed for the outdoors, leaving her shocked and speechless. Actually, Freya thought that Isabella was a naive and easily bullied girl. So, it was easy to lecture her like a superior. But what she didn’t expect was that she will be threatened by her in the end. After Isabella disappeared, her face turned pale in fear.
What if she tells the Duke for real?
Away from the crowd, Isabella finally found a quiet place to stand with all her broken emotions. She loved open corridors like this palace had too many. It allows anyone to look outside.
She noticed how the dark clouds began to gather above her head, a signal before raining as if they were sad for her aching heart too. One drop followed by another drop, it began to co one after another slowly but the girl remained unmoved. She could care less about the world except her broken heart. When a big drop slid over her long lashes, she broke into tears.
It was hard to pretend like their words didn’t matter to her. The more she continued to find a reason to live, the more this cruel world showed how unimportant her life was. Perhaps, she should have died the other day or with her baby that she continued to carry in her womb for months. What Isabella didn’t notice that a pair of eyes were watching over her for a long ti. His brows slightly caressed when he felt that her shoulders had been shaking.
Silas knitted his brows tightly. The last thing that he wanted to see tears in her eyes. He regretted his decision today. He shouldn’t have asked her to co and join this party.
Is she crying?
He could only guess it from far as she was facing him from back. So he couldn’t see her face and continued wondering about her. Freya had been keeping an eye on the Duke for a long ti. She felt happy when he talked very little with the other affiliates. She grabbed two glasses of wine from a maid and approached Silas at this thought of spending so ti. She was more confident on herself because the other girls didn’t dare to approach him out of fear. All of them could only watch him from the distance.
" Your Highness! Drink?", Freya offered with a beaming smile, her eyes held the amusent evidently. She never t a guy so perfect like him. She was practically drooling over him shalessly.
Silas turned his head aside to see Freya holding two glasses of wine. When he extended his hand to grab from her, Freya’s face lit up like tube light. But what he did in the next had left her speechless. Instead of taking one glass, Silas took both glasses from her hands and thanked before before heading to the corridor,
" Thanks, Miss Burton. Please enjoy the party!"
Freya’s face turned ashen after Silas left her like nothing. She quickly returned an embarrassed smile and looked around to ensure no one was watching. However, she couldn’t stop herself from being curious to know where he was exactly going.
On the other side, Silas approached Isabella with their glass of wines. As soon as he went closer, he heard her sobbing. His pace stopped and grip around the glass tightened in rage.
Did soone insult her again?
" Isabella...", he called her softly to let her know. Isabella quickly wiped her tears away and replied in an unwelcoming tone,
" What are you doing here,Duke Silas? You were supposed to be in the party."
Silas shurgged, offering her a glass gently,
" I am not interested in this party."
He kept staring at her face with intensity as if he was telling that he was interested in her rather than that useless party. Isabella pursued her lips tightly, gripping the glass before blurting sharply,
" You..did..it on.. purpose..You..you intentionally let our clothes match, isn’t it?"
Silas took a sip from his glass slowly. Getting closer to her, he admitted blatantly, looking grimly into her slightly red eyes,
" I did, so what?"
Isabella was little taken back. They promised to be friends only but he was crossing the line everyti. She was frustrated on herself more than anyone else. Biting her lips together tightly, she gritted her words out angrily,
" Why? Is it because you love to stir rumours or you love to see getting insulted? Why did you do this? I told you. Nothing is going to happen between us. Now..oh god..Why are you even here? If soone sees us together, we might get into big trouble. Just go..Ahh..."
Isabella couldn’t finish her words as her waist was gripped by him fiercely. Then, she was thrown over his chest. Before she could blabber more, her lips were claid fiercely.
Everyone wanted to show? So, he better gives them a proper show to see whom he belongs.
