"I arrived early." Shi Yu said as he pulled a gold card from his trouser pocket and handed it to the old man, "Use this money for your charity as usual this year."

The old man took the gold card from him and smiled, "You and your brother are both good in every way, except for being too careless about money."

Shi Yu handsoly put his hands back into his pockets, still standing up straight: "When it cos to spending money on you, the amount doesn’t matter."

"Alright, alright."

Although it was just a simple phrase, it was music to the old man’s ears and naturally made him very happy.

He knew his grandson well; he had never been one to sweet-talk, always proving his abilities through actions instead.

Back when he first entered society, the old man had been worried about him, afraid he wouldn’t understand the ways of the world, scared his reserved nature would offend his opponents or business partners.

Unexpectedly, starting from his first company, he had quickly found a firm footing in the business world. Being indifferent or ruthless towards others did not affect his resolve. In just a few short years, he had established his own business empire, moving freely in the business field.

The old man handed the card to soone nearby to put it in the safe. As he turned to give instructions, Shen Cheng pretended to bend over to adjust her clothes, then covertly gave the old man a aningful look.

At first, the old man didn’t notice her because she had changed clothes and was also draped in Shi Yu’s jacket. It was only when Shen Cheng gave him that look that he realized it was that girl.

Shen Cheng stood up straight again and t the old man’s gaze, her lips curving into a smile: "Grandpa, hello, my na is Shen Cheng, and I’m your granddaughter-in-law."

"Granddaughter-in-law?" Apparently interpreting her hint from before, the old man looked at her skeptically.

Shen Cheng nodded, obediently replied: "Yes."

The old man humd, sizing her up from head to toe, and then spoke impassively: "While you deserve credit for giving birth to two big, healthy boys for my grandson, when attending such an occasion, you should dress more appropriately. Don’t you know that you represent not just yourself but the entire Shi Family now? With the prestige of the Shi Family in Du City, if people see this unbecoming side of you, it might invite gossip."

His tone was asured but carried with it an undeniable authority, causing the servants beside him to break out in a cold sweat for Shen Cheng.

Having served the old man for more than ten years, they had a clear understanding of his temperant. His deanor just now indicated that he was about to get angry because soone had crossed his line.

The color in Shen Cheng’s eyes darkened slightly, and she lowered her head a little, "I’m sorry, I..."

"No need to apologize."

The man by her side pulled her into his arms in one swift motion, looping his shoulders around her as if declaring to everyone that this woman was his beloved, and that she didn’t need to apologize, right or wrong, in front of anyone.

Even though Shen Cheng knew that Shi Yu would take her side, she had not expected him to defend her in this manner, especially without considering that the person they were confronting was his own grandfather.

To say she wasn’t touched would be a lie.

Shi Yu lowered his head and whispered in her ear, "Don’t be afraid, I’m here."

He released her and looked at the old man before him, his voice low and heavy: "Old man, let’s go out and talk."

Shi Yu had always called the old man "old man" since he was a child because they had a good relationship, and the old man never minded, in fact, he even liked the nickna "old man."
