Ever turned to leave the kitchen after making herself a cup of coffee and bumped into Cody. His sudden appearance startled her and she scread at him.
''Cody, what is wrong with you? You scared ''
''Big sis, I saw what you did last night'' Cody said and snatched the cup from her and sipped the coffee shaking his head as he mumbled incoherently, ''aye, I hate school and learning. I should hurry up and grow fast''
''What what did you see?'' Ever followed behind him nervously and sat across him at the dining table.
''How did things go at Neo Island? Any progress with brother in law?''
''I told you to stop calling him that. tell what you saw''
''I saw you and brother in law sorry, eldest cousin. It was so late, what were you two doing exactly alone at that night?''
''You you didn't see anything right?'' Ever asked and frowned. She knew he was just tricking her.
''Yes, I only saw you running out of the car last night so, I knew things weren't so simple. Did you kiss him?''
''Shut up and don't snatch my cup of coffee next ti'' she scread at him and snatched the cup back before standing up.
''Wow, who spit in your biscuits this early morning, honey?'' Julieta ca out of their room and saw Ever going to her room and she asked.
''He did'' Ever pointed at Cody before going away. Cody threw his hands in the air and shook his head.
''I told you not to ss with your sister like that'' Julieta said as she started to make a cup of coffee for Cody.
''Mom, haven't you noticed sis is fun to ss with? She takes everything so serious and the face she always makes is priceless''
''Don't let your dad hear you say that or he is going to scold you''
''He won't find out'' Cody said and took the cup from his mother, ''thanks mom''
''I heard everything and you are going to recite the hierarchy mantra every morning for a month'' Kash said as he stood at the stairs. Julieta laughed looking at the displayed look on Cody's face.

Ever walked into the hotel yawning and sighing tiredly. Her steps were slow and unhurried as she covered half of her face with her cap. Soone called her na at once and she turned.

Ever frowned but her facial muscles relaxed as she recognised the who called her.
''Peter?'' she was surprised to see him again.
''Is that how you are? How could you promise to buy a al and then went MIA on ?'' he said as he stood in front of her.
''Oh, right. I did promise to buy you a al. I'm sorry, I've been so busy lately that I completely forgot''
''It's alright, I am here. are you free for a al?''
''I have a lot of work to do today, how about we make it tomorrow?''
''Tomorrow it is then, I will co here and pick you up. don't forget''

Ever nodded and went towards the elevator while Peter turned to go. he t Jayden on the way going in with Ann who recognised him.
''Peter?'' Ann asked questionably and Jayden looked at her.
''Ann Sanchez? Whoa, fancy seeing you here'' Peter said and shook her hand. He and Peter looked at each other, ''were you the sa person I saw at the hospital?'' he asked.
''If you are talking about the day you brought Ever over, then it was ''
''Then, why didn't you call back then? I didn't make you. You have beco even more beautiful''
''Thanks, I was busy and ant to contact you but I forgot'' Ann explained.
''Who is he?'' Jayden asked and looked at Peter.
''Oh, he is one of our classmates. He used to sit in the sa row with Ever''
''I see'' Jayden said and walked away.
''What is wrong with him?'' Peter muttered.
''He is probably busy, did you co here to et Ever?''
''Yes, we already planned to et later on. It was nice eting you again, Ann, I have to go now''
''Sure, bye'' Ann watched Peter and saw that he got into a luxurious car outside the hotel, ''that car is very expensive, is he that rich?'' she murmured to herself before going away.

The kitchen turned silent as soon as Ever walked in. She noticed the way everyone was looking at her but didn't react, she rely greeted them and went to the bakery section.
''Miss Ever, you are finally here'' Emma followed closely behind Ever.
''Emma, I want you to get so ingredients from this address'' Ever removed the paper she had taken from Papa Jones the other day. It contained the address of a famous place in the city. This place was known for its fresh and top-notched ingredients. Though they were expensive, they were worth their prices.
''Miss Ever, I have big news for you'' Emma said as she took the paper from Ever.
''What big news?''
''The kids that are coming today. I heard they are all children of big families, which ans the winner will not only get to keep their jobs, but will also be chosen as the main pastry chef for the school's annual program, parent-teacher etings and all the important occasions that will take place in the school''
''Really?'' Ever asked nonchalantly and Emma frowned.
''What kind of reaction is this? I just told you news only the CEO and his secretary knows and your only reaction is ''really?', I thought you would be happy and put your fighting spirit on and make a good coback?''
''What coback? Just go and do what I asked''
''Coback, huh? I thought this piece of news would at least make you give up before you are disgraced?'' Benita leaned against the door a she browsed through her phone adding, ''People who fear the heat shouldn't go inside the kitchen. That was what my mother taught first when I told her I wanted to be a chef''
''You'' Emma glared at her.
''What? For how long are you going to continue to be under her shadow? You should be participating if you have the guts''
''People like you will only bow with results. I hope you keep up with the way you boast when you lose today'' Emma retorted.
''When she wins? That is still a far-fetched dream, but we all have the right to dream, right?''

''Emma, go now'' Ever gave her a warning gaze and she sighed and left the kitchen.
''I heard that you spent the night in the sa room with the CEO? The rumour had already gone out, everyone knows about it'' Benita stood in front of Ever, ''aren't you ashad to be using such thods?''
''What?'' Ever's face contorted.
''Why? Are you going to deny the fact that you seduced the CEO? There is even a photo of you and the CEO taking a night stroll down the sea'' she opened her gallery and showed the picture to Ever. It was a picture of when Jayden helped her to get up from where she sat.
Ever smiled and looked at Benita, her eyes were clear and she didn't seem surprise nor angry. in fact, there was minimal to no expression on her face.
''So, what do you want? Everything you just said was a lie. The only person who has this picture is you and the only person who knows what you know is you alone. Are you here to threaten with that information and this useless picture?''
''You are right. No one knows about it at the mont but it won't stay hidden for long''

''The competition; get out of it or I will post this picture in the staff group chatroom. Imagine the chaos it would cause''

''Huh?'' Benita was startled by Ever's answer. It wasn't sothing she expected to hear from her. She was only sent by Ann to threaten Ever with the picture because Ann had told her that Ever was easy to bully and they just needed sothing to use against her to make her not take part in the competition but Ever's response shocked her.
''Benita, I was waiting for a day like this to tell you sothing my mother always told '' she purposefully stressed on the latter part of her sentence as she watched Benita's face turned ashen, ''people who don't have the guts to get on the ring always end up being lackeys of the ring bearers', if you think threatening with a picture would make leave this place. Then the joke is on you, but you are not the one I want. The one I want is the one hiding behind you doing all this disgusting works. So, make sure to tell her this, today is going to be a day full of surprises. I am done giving her second chances''
