674 Are You Disappointed?
Bai Xi Xi stood at the corner, wanting to eavesdrop on their conversation. However, their voices were too muffled for her to understand. She considered going closer to listen but was worried that they might notice her presence.
Ultimately, their conversation ended before Bai Xi Xi could hear what they were saying.
Hearing the sound of footsteps approaching her, Bai Xi Xi took a step back to hide behind the wall as she did not want to get into trouble with Jian Chi.
Through her hiding place, Bai Xi Xi could see Jian Chen and his group of friends walking past her hiding place. She waited for a while, but could not see Fu Chen coming out.
Seeing that Jian Chi had gotten further away, Bai Xi Xi ca out to look for Fu Chen. Surprisingly, she found him staring back at the basketball court.
She watched him for a while before deciding to walk over.
Fu Chen turned around when he heard her footsteps. There was a hint of surprise in his expression when he saw Bai Xi Xi behind him. When he left the classroom earlier, Bai Xi Xi was still chatting to her friends.
“Class Monitor, what are you doing here?” Fu Chen asked.
Bai Xi Xi rely gave him a glance before she looked at the basketball court again. “I could ask you the sa thing.”

Fu Chen laughed. He figured that Bai Xi Xi was not going to tell him anything unless he spoke first. He followed Bai Xi Xi’s line of gaze to look at the basketball court and inhaled a deep breath. “I just wanted to look at the basketball court.”
Bai Xi Xi raised a brow at his answer. She thought about his eting with Jian Chi earlier and spoke, “I saw you talking with Jian Chi earlier.”
Fu Chen paused.
“What were you two discussing?”
His lips curled into a faint arc. “Class Monitor, are you following ?”
“Of course, not. It was a coincidence.” Bai Xi Xi spoke. “I just ca out from the teacher’s office.”
The office was quite close to the basketball. Therefore, it was not strange for Bai Xi Xi to use this path.
Fu Chen thought about Bai Xi Xi’s earlier question and sighed. “I was asking Jian Chi if I could join his basketball team.”
Bai Xi Xi turned to Fu Chen in surprise. She was not expecting this man to take the initiative to see Jian Chi because he wanted to join the team. She studied Fu Chen’s expression. Bai Xi Xi could already guess Jian Chi’s answer.
“Class Monitor, are you not interested to know what was his answer?”
“What did he say?” Even though she already knew the answer, Bai Xi Xi still pretended to ask.
Fu Chen looked at Bai Xi Xi again. “He rejected .”
Bai Xi Xi glanced at Fu Chen’s face and saw the disappointnt on his face. “Are you disappointed?”
Fu Chen let out a low laugh. Instead of answering, Fu Chen let out a long sigh.
“It might be a good thing that you are not playing with Jian Chi,” Bai Xi Xi comnted. “He might seem to be the best player at school, but Jian Chi was not a good player. You have played against him not too long ago. You should have seen how he played.”
“Hmm...” Fu Chen also knew that Jian Chi was not a good player.
From that one ga, he was able to figure out that Jian Chi was quite arrogant and was not much of a team player. The number of tis his teammates were able to hold the basketball was not much. However, it did not seem as if the players minded this a little bit. It seed that they were used to Jian Chi’s style of playing.
“Why do you want to join his team?”
Fu Chen raised his brow. “Isn’t it obvious? It’s because I wanted to play. I was a basketball player at my forr school. I thought that I might be able to continue playing here.”
Bai Xi Xi recalled the ti she had seen Fu Chen on the basketball court.
She could see that Fu Chen liked this sport as much as her.
Bai Xi Xi felt that she could understand Fu Chen’s feelings. After all, when she first ca to this school, she also thought that she wanted to continue playing. However, this school did not have a girl’s basketball team.
The reason she chose to go to Y City High School was because it was closer to ho and their academic reputation was outstanding.
Even though she might miss playing basketball with others, Bai Xi Xi did not mind it.
She would always rember the words her brother had said to her when she was just a little girl. Knowledge will help her to go further in life. Only if she study diligently would she have a good life.
Back then, she only have her brother and they both did not have much.
From an early age, Bai Xi Xi had always been thinking about how she wanted to study well, get a good job and make a lot of money. Then, she could support her brother and the two of them will no longer have to worry about money.
However, their life changed. Her brother had a lot of money now and they could live comfortably.
Still, Bai Xi Xi had never changed her mind about studying. This ti, she wanted to do well and make her family proud. As for basketball... she could play them when she entered university.
“You can always play without joining Jian Chi’s team.”
“Then, Class Monitor, will you accompany to practice?”
“Are you trying to trick into teaching you so tricks? I told you that I will teach you depending on your test result.”
Fu Chen laughed again. He really did not expect that Bai Xi Xi would take that condition seriously. “Of course, not. But just a one-on-one match. Is that impossible too?”
