Chapter 4: Gathering at Love Apartnt
However, there was still one glowing orb-like object left. Chen Yuze couldn’t quite figure out what it was. After a mont’s thought, he reached out and picked it up. The orb imdiately projected another panel! The ssage indicated that it contained basic tomb-raiding knowledge, specifically, the mories of an unnad tomb raider, and could be fused with his own mind.
“Hey, handso!” Just as Chen Yuze was considering whether to rge with it, a voice interrupted his thoughts.
Chen Yuze turned to see the person in front of him, the sa cute girl who had reminded him earlier. She smiled slightly at him and said, “Hi, I’m Chen ijia! I saw you standing still for a long ti. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. Thanks for earlier! I just zoned out for a second.” Chen Yuze smiled back at Chen ijia. She was a bit slim, even slightly frail-looking, but that didn’t detract from her overall charm. With her doll-like face and two adorable dimples when she smiled, she was incredibly cute.
“Oh, good! The event’s about to start over there. Weren’t you hungry? Let’s go together!” Chen ijia seed to be hiding sothing, her expression slightly awkward, but Chen Yuze didn’t press her. He simply nodded and followed her toward the stage.
As they walked, Chen Yuze suddenly realized sothing—the items from his earlier loot box were clearly ant for two people, not one. Though so were missing, the weapon setup made it obvious. That ant the system’s initial task was either a two-person mission or one with double the difficulty.
Finally, amid the crowd’s cheers, Zeng Xiaoxian sohow scrambled onto the stage, grabbed the microphone, and began his overly enthusiastic hosting. Chen ijia walked over to another side, chatting with a priest. Chen Yuze knew that the priest had to be Lü Ziqiao in disguise!
As soon as Chen ijia left, the band started playing a strangely haunting lody, and Zeng Xiaoxian grew even more excited. Chen Yuze couldn’t help but twitch at the sight.
Sure enough, it didn’t take long for Hu Yifei to storm over, yank out the microphone cable without hesitation, and then bring a rock band onstage to perform.
Furious, Zeng Xiaoxian ran down and shouted back at her, “Get it straight, I’m the wedding host, okay?!”
“I’m the director!”
“And I’m the deputy head of the neighborhood committee’s apartnt residence branch!” As he spoke, Zeng Xiaoxian slamd his hand on the sound system, restarting his prepared music.
But at this point, the sheer absurdity of the band’s performance had to be acknowledged. Everyone had probably heard the classic folk song Husband and Wife Return Ho Together—but had they ever heard an English version?
Yes. An English rendition of Husband and Wife Return Ho Together.
“Two birds on the tree, are in pairs…”
The effect was… bizarre. It sounded like a cow struggling to give birth. Chen Yuze clenched his teeth, fighting back laughter. What a bunch of clowns! Even Wang Tiezhu and Tian Erniu—the bride and groom, were nuts to entrust their wedding to these people.
“Holy crap, where did they even find this band? These guys are next-level ridiculous!” Chen Yuze muttered under his breath. The weirdest part? The audience seed to enjoy it. What kind of taste is this?!
“What’s wrong?” Hu Yifei suddenly appeared beside him.
Chen Yuze felt he could still salvage the situation and forced a nod. “As expected of the band Yifei-jie picked!”
The mont he said it, he regretted it. He’d slipped up.
Hu Yifei looked slightly embarrassed. “What does ‘as expected’ an? I had no idea they’d be this ridiculous. Wait a minute—”
She narrowed her eyes at him. “How do you know my na? I never introduced myself.”
Damn. She’d caught on. Chen Yuze awkwardly replied, “I heard everyone calling you that. Isn’t that right?”
“Oh, that makes sense.” Hu Yifei thought about it and nodded. Plenty of people here called her that, so it wasn’t strange for him to know.
Chen Yuze quickly changed the subject. “By the way, Yifei-jie, do you have any vacant rooms here? My lease is up, and I’d like to move in. The environnt seems great.”
“Actually, yes! Our apartnt has an open spot. The bride and groom used to live with us, but now that they’re moving out, there’s a vacancy. Perfect timing!” Hu Yifei nodded. They’d been planning to look for new roommates soon anyway.
“Thanks, Yifei-jie!” Chen Yuze smiled. Earlier, the system had ntioned that gaining recognition from certain people would allow him to go tomb raiding with them. He suspected those “certain people” were the main characters of Love Apartnt, otherwise the system wouldn’t have activated when Zeng Xiaoxian approached him.
“Yifei-jie, the bride and groom’s car is arriving!” soone shouted from the side.
Hu Yifei imdiately grabbed her walkie-talkie. “All teams, standby! The bride and groom are here, cue the music!”
The band switched tunes, and Zeng Xiaoxian directed soone to set off the prearranged firecrackers.
Soon, the wedding car arrived, but out stepped Lu Zhanbo and Lin Wanyu…
Even an idiot could tell these weren’t the bride and groom. Neither was wearing wedding attire, and they looked completely unprepared.
Lin Wanyu, seeing so many people staring at them, assud it was a welco, unsurprising, given she was the heiress of Lin’s Bank and probably used to grand receptions.
Clueless about normal customs, she cheerfully said, “Wow, so extravagant!”
Lu Zhanbo, though usually slow, had enough sense to notice the odd stares. He whispered to her, “Why is everyone looking at us?”
Chen Yuze nudged Hu Yifei. “Yifei, are these the bride and groom? They’re being way too low-key, no wedding dress?”
Hu Yifei blinked, then snapped back to reality. She marched over to the car. “Zhanbo, why are you in the wedding car?”
Curious about Love Apartnt’s two most innocent residents, Chen Yuze followed and studied Lu Zhanbo and Lin Wanyu silently.
Lu Zhanbo grinned. “Sis, it’s a long story, I’ll explain later!”
He gestured to Lin Wanyu. “This is my friend, Wanyu.”
