The white man saw more people gathering around him, took a step back, and leaned against the truck, "What do you want?"

Luke also walked over, "Do what? Just want to talk to you, but why are you so nervous?"

The white man said, "Being suddenly surrounded by a group of people; wouldn't anyone be nervous?"

Luke asked, "Sir, how should I address you?"

"Carl Smith."

"I'm Luke Lee, captain of the Robbery and Murder Departnt Squad One. I'm investigating a supermarket shooting case and would like your assistance in the investigation."

"What supermarket shooting case?"

"The Roger's Supermarket shooting case, many TV stations are broadcasting this news. Don't you know?"

"Ah, I rember now, seems like there was such a thing, but what does it have to do with ?" Carl Smith shrugged, making an innocent gesture.

"Have you been to Roger's Supermarket?"

"I don't rember, maybe I went before."

"When was before?"

"I haven't been there for at least a month, so I can't see how I'm related to the supermarket shooting. You guys must be mistaken.

If there's nothing else, I'm leaving now."

Luke took out Brown Bryant's photo, "Don't be in such a hurry to leave. Do you recognize him?"

Carl Smith glanced at it, shook his head, "I don't know him."

Luke stared at him, "Lying is not a good habit. His parents have t you."

"Maybe they mistook for soone else, I have a naturally common face." Carl Smith touched his cheek.

"His parents live in the Karst Community. Think carefully, have you been to the Karst Community? That community is just west of Roger's Supermarket."

"No, it's the first ti I've heard of this community."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I'm sure."

"So, you've never been to this community either?"

"Yes."

Luke took out a photo, "This is a surveillance screenshot from February 5th, taken on a community road in the Karst Community. You're driving a white Fiat, appearing in the Karst Community, and obviously stayed there for a while. The screenshot from the driver's seat clearly shows your appearance. How do you explain this?"

"Maybe I... forgot?"

"Was it forgetting, or deliberately lying?"

Carl Smith grabbed his hair fiercely with both hands, "I want a lawyer."

"In a case involving a terror attack, no one or organization can help you."

Luke directly characterized the case as a terror attack, giving the police more autonomy and more ans to use in the investigation.

"I wasn't involved in a terror attack." Carl Smith was completely flustered.

"You were.

On February 13th, you drove the truck on Highway 1, aiming to assist the supermarket shooter Brown Bryant. He drove that white Volkswagen into your truck, and then you took both the car and the person to a safe place. Am I right?"

"No, you're framing . I didn't do it.

Oh God, I'm going crazy." Carl Smith squatted down, holding his head with both hands.

Luke continued, "You also contacted a mortgage company, preparing to mortgage your truck, cash out, and flee."

Carl Smith's forehead was covered in fine beads of sweat, still shaking his head, "I was planning to mortgage the car, but for business purposes, not for fleeing."

Luke took out another photo, "We extracted Brown Bryant's DNA from the equipnt left by the shooter, enough to identify him as the supermarket shooter. The police are now fully pursuing him. Even if you don't admit it, once we catch him, he'll expose you too.

Really looking forward to seeing your lovely reunion scene."

Carl Smith slowly lifted his head, looked at the equipnt in the photo, and couldn't hold back, "Fuck, that idiot!"

Seeing him relent, Luke smiled and said, "That's more like it, confessing earlier is in your favor."

Carl Smith touched the front of the truck with a complicated expression and said, "Buddy, it seems we don't have to part anymore."

Luke thought to himself, "No, you still have to part ways."

Carl Smith sighed, helplessly saying, "I didn't expect things to turn out this way. I just wanted Carl Smith to cause trouble at that supermarket, but everything's a ss."

"Did you send Brown Bryant to kill at Roger's Supermarket?"

"No, no, no, I didn't tell him to kill anyone. I just told him to fire a few shots and scare the supermarket guests, but I didn't expect that bastard to lose control.

I nearly pissed myself when I saw the news."

Luke pursued, "Why did you do this?"

"I'm just a middleman, not the real mastermind."

"Who's the mastermind?"

Carl Smith stood up, solemnly and helplessly said, "If I tell you, does that count as ritorious service?"

"Of course, we can turn you into a tainted witness, giving you a favorable confession agreent."

Carl Smith pondered for a long ti and said, "It's the owner of the Carla Supermarket, Boqi Cala."

Luke pursued, "Why did he do this?"

"Because the two supermarkets are in the sa area, and the clientele are from several nearby black communities. Originally, Carla Supermarket was doing pretty well, but ever since Roger's Supermarket opened, it started engaging in vicious competition: first, with price reductions and promotions, various activities, and then extending business hours, compressing the supermarket's profits to a very low level.
