The following morning.

Detective Bureau.

Perhaps it was the relaxation from soaking in the hot springs, but Luke woke up feeling refreshed and clear-headed this morning.

At 9:05 a.m., Luke, carrying a cup of tea, walked out of his office, "Guys, let's get ready for the eting."

The deputy asked, "Is Marcus on leave?"

Luke said, "Don't worry about him, he should be out gathering information.

Everyone, let's discuss your investigation progress."

Matthew said, "I reviewed the road surveillance around the bank and tracked the suspect vehicle's movents before the incident, leading up to a district without caras.

To be exact, that nearby area lacks road surveillance, making it difficult to continue tracking the source through caras."

Luke made a note in his notebook, "How about the others?"

Raymond said, "We obtained recent vehicle theft records from the police database, and three of them matched the suspect vehicle's make, model, and color. After a thorough comparison, one of the car owners described a situation quite consistent with that of the suspect vehicle.

For example, scratches on the car and decorations inside the vehicle."

Luke asked, "Is the car owner a suspect?"

Raymond said, "We've only contacted him by phone, and I've arranged for him to co in for a statent this morning."

"Good." No matter if the car owner is a suspect or not, he could provide so valuable clues.

If the car owner was involved in the bank robbery, we just need to follow up with the investigation.

If the car owner wasn't involved in the robbery and it was only a vehicle theft, we could also determine the specific ti and location of the theft.

The deputy asked, "How are things on the FBI's end?"

"Not so good, an FBI agent was killed on the spot by an explosion, several agents were injured, and Anthony himself was hurt too. The FBI has transferred the case to the Los Angeles Police Departnt.

The police departnt has assigned us to the Robbery and Murder Departnt to investigate."

The deputy said, "Doesn't sound like an easy job. Is there a chance we might get blown up too?"

Luke countered, "Should I refuse it then?"

The deputy analyzed, "The police departnt assigned us the case not only because we were involved in the early investigation of the bank robbery but also as a show of trust in our team.

If we refuse now, it would be like betraying the police departnt's trust.

This naturally wouldn't affect an old guy like who's about to retire, but for you and the other team mbers...

You'll surely be tagged with distrust by the departnt.

Make your choice."

At this mont, Luke naturally couldn't back out, so he changed the subject, "The fact that FBI agents were injured in the explosion further solidifies Jerrang Kazafei's suspicion.

Currently, this man is still missing, and his phone is out of reach. I plan to apply for a warrant for his arrest.

Deputy, Matthew, you guys look into his connections."

Luke put a docunt on the projector, "Lastly, let's summarize the losses from this bank robbery. There were 76 private deposit boxes in the bank vault that were stolen, most of which contained precious gold and silver jewelry.

Additionally, according to the bank manager, there were also 12.7 million US Dollars stolen from the vault."

Luke returned to his desk and picked up a calculator, "I did a test last night. 100 one-hundred dollar bills weigh 0.2314854 pounds, so 12.7 million dollars would be approximately 294 pounds.

There were five suspects in total, each would need to carry an average of about 60 pounds, plus the equipnt the robbers were carrying and the valuables from the deposit boxes, a rough estimate suggests that the average load each robber might have exceeded 100 pounds."

The deputy furrowed his brow, "That's too heavy.

Even if the robbers are strong, it would be tough to move fast carrying such a heavy load. Plus, they chose to escape through the sewers which has even more difficult conditions and would add to the difficulty of their escape.

I suspect there might be other accomplices in the sewers waiting to assist."

Luke said, "The deputy's guess makes sense.

However, according to the FBI agents in charge of the tracking, they didn't find traces of other suspects, so whether there were accomplices still needs to be questioned."

Jackson countered, "But if there was no one to help them, how could they possibly have carried away so much cash and valuables?"

Luke said, "It's also possible that the robbers didn't take as much as we imagined."

Jackson said, "Do you think the suspects could have hidden the money and valuables sowhere inside the bank?"

Luke nodded, "That's possible, but it would be even harder to avoid the police search."

The deputy sensed a hint in Luke's words and speculated, "It's also possible the bank lied, and the loss wasn't as great as claid.

Perhaps the bank robbery was an inside job!"

...

At ten in the morning.

The Robbery and Murder Departnt break room.

Luke summoned the bank manager Potoby Flick to the police departnt for questioning.

Potoby Flick appeared sowhat nervous, as if he hadn't expected to be questioned by the police again so soon.

"Captain Luke, haven't I already given a statent? Why do I need to do it again?"

"You were still quite tense just having experienced the robbery yesterday; you might have overlooked so clues. Plus, after yesterday's investigation, we discovered so new leads and evidence, so we wanted you to co in and verify them."

Potoby Flick asked, "Have you caught the robbers?"

"Yes, by investigating the bank deposit box custors, we have identified one of the suspects as Jerrang Kazafei. The police successfully apprehended him early yesterday morning." As Luke spoke, he watched the man's expressions closely and noticed signs of panic.

Yesterday, Luke had also taken a statent from Potoby Flick, but with the robbery just having happened, as a victim, Potoby Flick was in a state of panic throughout, making it hard to tell if he was lying.
