Las Vegas Police Station.

It was Luke's first ti at the Las Vegas Police Station.

The way he had arrived had irked him; he had been flanked by two SWAT team mbers all the way here. Although he wasn't handcuffed, the treatnt wasn't exactly friendly either.

Upon arriving at the station, Luke was led into an interrogation room, and out of habit, he scanned the surroundings and spotted a cara in the upper-left corner.

Luke didn't really mind; being observed was normal.

He sat in the chair, reflecting on his actions tonight from his perspective, he saw no issues.

About fifteen minutes later, an African Arican man in a police uniform entered the interrogation room, closing the door behind him, "Sorry to keep you waiting; I was just reviewing your body cam footage."

Luke said, "Since you've seen the video from the body cam, isn't it ti to let go?"

The African Arican officer avoided the question, "I am Michael Bunt, the Police Chief of the Las Vegas headquarters."

"I am Luke Lee, Assistant Captain of the Los Angeles Detective Bureau." Luke took out a pack of cigarettes, "Care for one?"

Michael shook his head, "We have a no smoking policy in the Las Vegas Police Departnt."

"OK, then I'm leaving." Luke stood up.

Michael waved a hand, "Assistant Captain Luke, please continue; there are exceptions to every rule. Before you go, we need to talk."

Luke smiled, he didn't actually need to smoke, nor was he trying to cause trouble; he just wanted to test the attitude at the Las Vegas Police Station, "Chief Michael, what would you like to discuss?"

"Why did you co to Las Vegas?"

"To vacation. I was hoping to win so at the casinos, but ended up losing quite a bit. I probably won't play again."

"Did you co alone, or with others?"

Luke spread his hands, "Is this an interrogation?"

"No, just a casual conversation. I'm just trying to verify the situation at the ti. If this were an interrogation, it wouldn't be just here, you know."

Luke gave a bitter smile, "It's actually a sad story, I ca here with my girlfriend."

Then... I was dumped."

"Dumped?"

"Yes, it's just us here, no need to repeat it."

"Hmm, that is quite sad. Any chance of nding things?"

"What? You planning to set up with a new girlfriend?"

"No problem, we have plenty of beautiful girls in Las Vegas; you're always welco to settle down here."

Luke nodded, "That's a tempting offer. I'm sowhat intrigued, but I'm afraid my chief might beat up."

Michael was silent for a mont, "Buddy, on behalf of the Las Vegas Police Departnt, I want to thank you for your assistance tonight. You tily stopped the shooter, preventing further casualties.

You're a hero.

You deserve a comndation, and I believe the Las Vegas Traffic Police will award you a dal."

"Thanks, but right now I just want to get back to my hotel and sleep well." Luke was not interested in a dal from the Las Vegas Police.

If he really wore such a thing back to Los Angeles, his colleagues would laugh him to death.

"Of course you can." Michael handed Luke a docunt, "Buddy, sign this agreent, and you're free to go."

Luke glanced at the docunt; it was a confidentiality agreent from the Las Vegas Police Departnt.

The gist was that Luke had to keep tonight's operation a secret and could not disclose any information about the shooting incident and its details publicly.

The case's press conference would be managed by the Las Vegas Police.

Luke could provide any thoughts or suggestions to the Las Vegas Police, but he was not to promote or accept any interviews from the dia in a personal capacity.

Michael said politely, "You can use my pen."

Luke looked at the confidentiality agreent, feeling the urge to tear it apart, "Do I need to call a lawyer?"

"Not at all, you just need to sign here, and you're free to go. Of course, we might want to talk to you again later.

Hope you don't plan on leaving Las Vegas anyti soon.

Of course, you can also approach us with any thoughts, requests, or troubles you might have." Michael's words seed to hint at sothing.

Luke leaned back in his chair, "I can agree to not speak to the press for now.

But there's no need to sign the agreent.

I trust the Las Vegas Police Departnt.

And I hope your departnt trusts as well."

Michael leaned forward with his hands on the table, speaking earnestly, "The psychotic shooter fired for over nine minutes, discharging thousands of rounds and injuring over eight hundred people. It will be recorded as the most devastating shooting in Arica's history.

Assistant Captain Luke, you are a cop too; you should understand the significance of this case. What would you do?"

People's emotions are not interchangeable; everyone has their own views and interests.

"So I agree not to go public for now, but I want to retain my right to free speech." Luke crossed his arms over his chest, showing so discontent.

It was like being demanded to sign a divorce agreent without discussing the distribution of property first—how was that possible?

Luke had risked his life to subdue the shooter, not to be a hero, and certainly not to be a laughable unknown hero.

What he wanted was tangible benefits.

The Las Vegas police didn't offer any benefits but wanted him to sign a confidentiality agreent right away—how could that be acceptable?

Of course, he had also picked up from Michael's words earlier that Luke could propose any ideas.

But was Luke a fool to make demands in their territory, under their surveillance and monitoring, exposing his stances?

Given such an attitude from the other party, Luke was definitely not going to sign the agreent.

Once he signed, Luke would be put in a passive position, losing his right to make public statents.

Michael continued to persuade, "Assistant Captain Luke, the whole world is watching this case, the entire world is scrutinizing Arica's police forces.

"You are also a part of the Arican police force."

"We must unite, we must present a united voice."

Luke laughed, elevating the conversation to encompass all of Arica.

"You from the Las Vegas Police Departnt can't represent the entire Arican police force, let alone the Los Angeles Police Departnt."

"To really treat as one of you, do you have to force to sign a confidentiality agreent?"

Luke knew what they were worried about.

The room where the gunman was found was considered the most dangerous place by everyone, and even the Las Vegas police feared it like a tiger.

But Luke ventured alone into the den and subdued the gunman. Afterward, a humorous scene unfolded—Luke was chatting on the phone with friends and family in the room.

It wasn't until nearly an hour later that the Las Vegas police dared to enter the gunman's room.

This itself was the ultimate contrast, satire, and absurdity.

The Las Vegas police might be laughed at by the public because of this, but what did that have to do with Luke?

Even if he hadn't subdued the gunman imdiately, given the Las Vegas police's temperant, they still wouldn't dare to attack the gunman quickly and would still be ridiculed by the public.

Luke had no obligation to pay for their actions.

"Ding-ding-ding…" Luke's phone rang.

It was an unfamiliar number. Luke pressed the answer button, "Luke, this is Frank, can you recognize my voice?"

"Yes, Chief, I'm honored to receive your call."

"How are things on your end? Is the injury serious?"

Luke's eyes shifted, "Yes, I was shot in the chest, and it does hurt quite a bit. I suspect my heart might be injured."

"Where are you now?"

"I'm in the interrogation room at the Las Vegas Police Departnt."

"Why didn't you go to the hospital?"

"I wanted to go to the hospital, but they insisted I sign a confidentiality agreent and wouldn't let leave without signing it."

"Ignore the confidentiality agreent and hand the phone to them."

"Yes, Chief."

Frank's words made Luke feel he wasn't alone but rather represented the entire LAPD.

Inspector Michael, our chief wants you to take the call," Luke said assertively.

Michael hesitated for a mont, then took the phone, "Hello, I am Michael Bunt, the Chief of Police for the Las Vegas headquarters…"

After a few words, Michael left the interrogation room with the phone.

A few minutes later, Michael ca back with a gloomy expression and returned the phone to Luke, "Soone will take you to the hospital shortly. I also hope you can keep your promise to keep the shooting incident confidential for now."

Luke smiled, "Does what you just said still count?"

Michael frowned, "What did I say?"

"Introducing to a girlfriend."

Michael "..."

Under the arrangent of the Las Vegas Police Departnt, Luke was taken to the Las Vegas downtown hospital.

Upon entering the hospital, Luke underwent a comprehensive physical examination and was initially placed under observation while waiting for the results.

Luke was placed in a single room with a nice environnt, a private bathroom, and access to television and internet.

Luke also kept in touch with his colleagues in Los Angeles.

A familiar voice echoed in Luke's mind, "Congratulations host, on your significant accomplishnt at the Las Vegas Music Festival shooting incident, preventing the gunman from continuing to shoot, you are awarded 160 lottery draw opportunities."

160 tis!

Impressive, Luke had never received so many rewards before.

Although the case was straightforward, there were many victims in the shooting, and the case had a huge impact. Luke guessed that this was the reason for the generous reward.

He bet right.

Lottery!

The pointer stopped, Diving Card…

Luke drew 160 tis continuously.

He obtained a total of 15 cards.

Among them were two new cards, each with different abilities.

Diving Card, 3[Can rapidly learn diving skills within three hours]

Diving and swimming are different.

Luke could swim, but only diocrely, he really couldn't dive. This skill was quite cool.

Muay Thai Card, 4[Can quickly learn Muay Thai skills within three hours]

Muay Thai is one of the most formidable practical combat skills in the world, unlike the singular style of boxing, it uses the limbs — fists, legs, knees, and elbows — as weapons to strike.

Sharp, vigorous and dominant.

It could compensate for the inadequacies of boxing's leg techniques to so extent.

Besides the new cards, he also drew 8 old cards, making up for the shortage of cards used.

He also received 145,000 US Dollars as a reserve.

The total reserve amounting to 566,000 US Dollars.
