"Dad, thanks for your advice, we weren't planning on getting married either."

"OK, glad you're okay, get so rest early. I'll visit you in Los Angeles when I have ti."

"Good night." Luke hung up the phone.

After Luke hung up, Daisy and other colleagues also called to express their concern.

It was almost 11 o'clock before he realized it.

Luke walked over to the door, looked outside, and could faintly hear so noise, but there was no one visible in the hallway.

He couldn't figure out what the Las Vegas police were doing; it had been 40 minutes.

If Reid hadn't warned him not to go out, he would have been tempted to approach the Las Vegas police to explain the situation.

Had these idiots gone for a midnight snack?

...

31st floor of the hotel.

A large number of Las Vegas police were gathered here.

Actually, they weren't idle; they were primarily evacuating hotel guests.

The person in charge of commanding the operation was Jason Cabock, the captain of the Action Bureau's assault team.

He instructed one of the assault team mbers, "Call over the officer who first arrived on this floor; I have so questions for him."

Soon, a Caucasian officer was brought over.

"I'm Jason Cabock, the assault team captain. Were you the first to arrive on this floor?"

"Yes, Captain Jason, my na is Kendi Polmi. I've been reporting to my superiors the whole ti."

"Describe the situation on the 32nd floor to again."

"The door to the 32nd-floor stairwell was locked. I haven't been up there, but I heard intense gunfire. There's definitely more than one gunman. I suspect it's a gang operation.

There's another matter I think I should ntion.

Around ten after ten, an LAPD officer went up to the 32nd floor, probably engaged the gunn in a firefight, and then there was no more noise from him.

I guess that poor guy got killed."

Jason was puzzled, "Why would an LAPD officer appear here?"

"He was here on vacation."

Jason shook his head, "Poor guy. This is Nevada, and the criminals here aren't like those in Los Angeles.

You should have warned him; he might have been impulsive, but he was brave."

Kendi shrugged, "I tried to stop him, but he was determined to play the hero, so the least I could do was loan him my bulletproof vest."

Jason patted his shoulder, "This wasn't your fault. We will avenge him and recover your bulletproof vest in the process.

Let those criminals see what the LVPD can do."

Afterward, Jason called the assault team over and began assigning tasks.

Based on Jason's assumption, the stairwell door on the 32nd floor was likely opened by that LAPD officer. No gunn or the body of the LAPD officer were found in the corridors of the 32nd floor, so Jason speculated that they must have engaged in a firefight in one of the rooms.

For this, Jason had devised a ticulous plan, believing that the gunn might be hiding in more than one room. Additionally, they were fully prepared for breach operations, starting with a battering ram, and if that failed, they also had explosives ready.

Once everything was ready, Jason led the fully ard assault team up to the 32nd floor.

Jason stood at the stairwell, checked the corridor on the 32nd floor, saw nothing suspicious, and was about to plan the next step when his radio suddenly crackled to life.

Jason extended his right fist, gesturing for a halt, and then stepped aside to answer the radio.

"Hello, this is Jason."

His expression changed repeatedly.

After a while, Jason finished the call with a somber look, "There's a change in plans."

The deputy captain, a black officer, asked, "Captain, what happened?"

"That LAPD officer isn't dead."

The deputy captain guessed, "Did that idiot get taken hostage? What a way to complicate things. Now we have an additional task to rescue hostages."

"No." Jason held back before saying, "He exchanged fire with the suspect, wounded the suspect, and the suspect killed himself."

"What?" the black deputy thought he had heard wrong, "Are you saying he subdued the gunman by himself?"

"Yes, the chief just called and said there was only one gunman, what a lucky guy."

The black deputy said, "The chief wasn't at the scene, how would he know? Could it be false information sent by the gunman, a deliberate trap?"

"That's unlikely, the chief of the Los Angeles Police Departnt personally contacted the chief of the Las Vegas Police Departnt; the ssage was relayed step by step."

The black deputy said, "I still think we can't take it lightly, we can't joke about our brothers' lives."

Jason nodded, "You're right. Tell the team mbers to prepare for a gunfight."

Jason reorganized and had the team mbers go ahead to check. They found the door to the room where the gunman was located was open, and they believed the information sowhat.

Then Jason personally walked near the gunman's room and shouted, "The person inside, listen up, you are surrounded, put your hands on the ground, no movents!"

"Hey, Las Vegas PD guys, you finally ca.

I'm Deputy Chief Luke Lee of the Los Angeles Detective Bureau, there's no danger here, the gunman shot himself after I wounded him.

You can safely co in."

Jason did not trust easily, "Cut the talk, raise your hands, and co to a place where I can see you."

"I really am LAPD, don't shoot by mistake."

"I will control my n. Just co on out boldly."

"Fuck!" Luke cursed inwardly, but as he was under the roof of others, he had to bow his head, and he could only lift his hands and slowly walk to the doorway.

Following that, a group of fully ard police officers rushed in.

"LVPD! Don't move!"

"Toilet searched, safe!"

"A white male deceased found."

"Safe!"

In the crowd, Luke also saw that white police officer who had hidden on the 31st floor, "Buddy, you should have lent your radio too."

The white police officer, Kendi, looked at Luke sowhat incredulously, "I... thought you were dead."

"I thought you went off for a late-night snack."

SWAT leader Jason interrupted the two, "We need to search you as a routine, you should understand, hmm."

"Isn't that unnecessary? I am also a policeman."

"There are plenty of police officers around, even the Bear Country has police, but you don't have legal authority here, you shouldn't be present at a shooting scene, so, we are just following the rules and conducting a routine search, cooperate with us."

Luke felt annoyed inside, but was helpless, "Get a female officer, I don't like being touched by n."

Subsequently, a female officer ca over and searched Luke.

"Hey, don't take my gun and badge..."

"Give him his badge." Jason looked at the items searched from Luke, "You're still wearing a body cara?"

"It's a habit."

"I need to take the gun and body cara."

"That belongs to the Los Angeles Police Departnt."

"Don't worry, it will be returned to the Los Angeles Police Departnt once the case is cleared, but for now, this body cara has captured the incident at the scene, it needs to be kept by the Las Vegas Police Departnt."

Luke nodded, "Can I leave now?"

"No, you are a police officer, you should know very well, in this situation, you need to go to the police station to make a statent."

Jason pointed to the deputy chief nearby, "Take him back to the station."

The black deputy chief made a gesture of invitation, "Buddy, co with ."

Two SWAT mbers stood beside Luke. He sighed softly, "You Las Vegas people are really welcoming, also welco you to visit Los Angeles."

Luke left the room.

A group of Las Vegas police watched the scene, looking around bewildered.

Jason punched the wall hard, "Fuck!"
