Los Angeles Detective Bureau.
Luke hurried to the detective bureau, only to find it surrounded by reporters.
Among them, he noticed a familiar figure, Nami Inoue.
Officers ca out to maintain order, allowing Luke's car to enter the detective bureau smoothly.
After parking, Luke saw Reid leading so people out of the bureau building.
"Chief, is there going to be a press conference?"
"Yes, you should join us."
Luke went up and asked, "What happened?"
"So families of the victims from Steven Community College are accusing the Los Angeles Police Departnt of negligence, indirectly leading to this terror attack."
Luke was a bit perplexed, "The Los Angeles Police Departnt was no longer in charge of the terror attack investigation as of yesterday, and the attack at the community college just happened this morning. What does this have to do with us?"
"Do you know lche Moran?"
"Yes, her boyfriend was a victim of the bioterrorist attack, Jordan Reddy."
ntioning Jordan Reddy inevitably brings up another terrorist, Tapani Reagan.
Tapani Reagan was a veteran who served in the Middle East. During his service, he asked his friend Jordan Reddy to look after his wife and children.
Upon returning to Arica after his discharge, Reagan discovered an affair between Jordan Reddy and his wife, which led to the destruction of his family and his imprisonnt.
Luke suspected Tapani Reagan of being a terrorist and guessed he might retaliate against Jordan Reddy.
Therefore, he arranged protection for Jordan Reddy and had a team set up at Steven Community College in advance.
It was during that visit to Jordan Reddy's ho that he t lche Moran.
Reid said, "lche Moran asserts that the police had information that terrorists might attack Steven Community College but didn't give it enough attention, which led to the terror attack. If the police had been responsible, the students and teachers at Steven Community College wouldn't have died."
Luke frowned, "This is an attempt to throw dirt on us."
Reid sighed, "We can't take this dirt; if we get sued, it could cost us everything."
"You're right; we definitely need to clarify this. Otherwise, those unscrupulous dia outlets will latch onto it and sensationalize the story."
Reid said, "I'll take the lead in this dia battle; you assist."
"No problem." At a certain level of position, dealing with the dia becos part of the job, and Luke was ntally prepared for this.
Under police arrangent, the reporters entered the detective bureau's courtyard in an orderly fashion.
Although Reid didn't think the Los Angeles Police Departnt was derelict in the terror attack case, they did implent controls at Steven Community College, sothing many school officials knew about. lche Moran, Jordan Reddy's girlfriend and a victim of the attack, was also aware.
Since it couldn't be hidden, it was best to clarify the situation before public opinion spiraled out of control. If opportunists captured the high ground in the narrative, it would be hard for the police to regain it.
"Dear journalist friends, I am Deputy Chief Reid of the detective bureau. I invited you here today because I've heard so unpleasant remarks, and I feel it's necessary to clarify the situation. You can question the police rather than report distorted news without evidence."
Reid made a gesture of invitation, "Let's begin!"
A female reporter asked, "Deputy Chief Reid, I've heard reports that the police already knew a terror attack could happen at Steven Community College. Is this true?"
Reid explained, "The police don't have predictive abilities, nor would terrorists inform us of their attack sites in advance. We simply compile clues and make analysis-based predictions.
Since yesterday, the police are no longer responsible for investigating terror attacks, having handed over the relevant case files to Holand Security."
The female reporter pressed on, "So, what you're saying is that Holand Security didn't give enough attention to your analysis and predictions?"
Reid shrugged, "You'll have to ask them that; I can't answer that question."
A woman, her face tear-streaked and weary, pushed to the front, questioning, "Deputy Chief Reid, my na is lche Moran. My boyfriend was a teacher at Steven Community College and a victim of this terror attack. I hope you can answer my question directly."
"Go ahead."
lche Moran held up a photo of her boyfriend, her voice choked with emotion, "On March 28th, the police ca to my ho, saying a terrorist might seek revenge on my boyfriend. The police also conducted surveillance at Steven University.
You had taken specific actions. If you'd seen them through, the bioterror attack this morning wouldn't have happened, and my boyfriend and his students wouldn't have died."
Reid said, "Actually, I've already answered this question, but since you sincerely asked, I'll say it again.
The situation you ntioned did exist. On March 28th, the police set up relevant controls.
But on March 29th, the terrorists attacked the City Hall.
Under the leadership of Captain Lee from the Robbery and Murder Departnt, the officers successfully thwarted that terror attack.
However, this didn't bring much honor to lapd, nor did anyone care about the officers' efforts and the risks they faced.
