[Aurudil — After nightfall.]

While Aurudil was known as the golden city, full of wealth and harmony.

The truth is that it’s not exempt from poor areas either, mainly abandoned zones inhabited by demons and so fairies.

This fact didn’t improve the image of xenos in Aurudil much, who associate free demons with poverty.

That’s why many say they are a plague that brings poverty, rather than seeing them as victims of poverty generated by the Vanir themselves.

However, it was true that it was sad to see how the gleaming streets of the city gradually darkened, while the houses beca increasingly old and dirty.

Seeing holess people lying around with lost and lifeless eyes didn’t improve the image of demons either.

But it was obvious, if no business accepts hiring demons, it was impossible for them to obtain money.

That’s why without other options, so demons stole, others sold their bodies.

A poverty that was gradually deteriorating the city, indirectly affecting the Vanir.

This ironically only worsened the image of demons, which only managed to create a vicious cycle that was slowly destroying the city.

Nights were very dangerous in certain neighborhoods.

People didn’t usually leave their houses, they didn’t even show signs of life.

They tried to make as little noise as possible, and obviously didn’t turn on the lights.

That’s why, when the streets were invaded by lights, it attracted curious gazes.

What they saw was surprising.

Candles, candles that danced in the air to the rhythm of soundless music.

That phenonon wasn’t surprising for being magical, but for its boldness.

Who would dare co to the slums at night and light up in such a way?

There were two options.

A crazy and ignorant person.

Or soone astonishingly dangerous.

It was then that this person was revealed, a sorceress.

She wore a long purple robe, which matched the color of her hair and pointed hat.

She carried all kinds of valuable-looking accessories that would most likely fix the lives of more than one person.

Her gaze was carefree, as if she didn’t care in the slightest about being in that dangerous place.

Sothing that only accentuated the idea that she was dangerous.

The woman kept walking, until she stopped in front of an abandoned church.

In front of a rusty tal fence, there was a small black doll, with a hat with candles attached.

"Is this it, Kalfou?" the woman asked, with a calm voice as she analyzed the building.

The small doll nodded, then prepared to speak.

"Yeah, that’s right, it cost an arm and a leg to find the place, this shit has very complex barriers," the Lwa responded with annoyance.

Anansi nodded, while her pupil descended, being exchanged for another.

Her pupil was now scarlet-colored, and had adopted an oval shape.

It was one of her eight mystic eyes, whose ability focused on seeing the karmic concentration of a place.

"As expected, the barrier can’t hide the karma it gives off. The amount of atrocities committed here is concerning," the woman comnted with an analytical voice, as her pupil returned to its initial state.

Kalfou nodded as he crossed his arms.

"Though on the other hand it would be even more suspicious if in this place there were a building that didn’t give off negative karma," the Lwa affird.

Anansi nodded again. That place had beco much more sinister.

The city had changed since she picked up Alioth.

Thinking about that, images returned to her mind.

She still rembered how scared the little one was, and how he clung to her with fear of being left alone.

She couldn’t believe she had decided to adopt him.

After all, what she did was very dangerous, and because of that, she had overprotected the child a lot.

Deep down, it was inevitable.

Without orgone he could get sick from spiritual contamination, so even exposing him to the outside for too long was dangerous.

However, when she saw that he had made friends, she felt sothing strange in her chest.

Sothing like pride.

Alioth was acting like a normal child his age, and that made her happy sohow.

That’s why, that day she decided to stop being so overprotective and let him spend ti with his new friends.

Wasn’t she a fabulous mother for that?

"Ummm, Anansi, are you here?" the Lwa intervened, seeing that the woman was lost in her thoughts.

Hearing it, Anansi paid attention again and nodded.

"Yes, sorry, I was reflecting on the barriers," she lied, sowhat embarrassed.

However, the Lwa could read through her lies.

"Really? Because you were smiling like a fool," Kalfou comnted with a mocking tone.

The woman was surprised hearing that, bringing a hand to her face to confirm if she was really smiling.

"Smiling?" she said out loud.

While it was very strange for Anansi to smile, or express emotions in general.

What surprised the witch wasn’t smiling itself, but the fact of having smiled while thinking about Alioth.

She hadn’t realized it, but her student had made her life much more entertaining, but above all, much happier.

It was strange to think about that, especially because after the death of "that person," Anansi had completely dedicated herself to her purpose, and promised she wouldn’t beco attached to anyone again.

She fulfilled that objective, she traveled around the world, gradually repairing that contaminated planet.

However, it was the first ti she created a connection like this with soone, not counting the artificial life she created.

But there was sothing different about Alioth, sothing she couldn’t understand.

Though now, she couldn’t waste ti thinking about it.

"I deduce you need my help," a voice then said.

From one of the many pockets of Anansi’s robe, Legba peeked out.

The doll looked with great interest at the barrier, though for him, "opening doors" was a piece of cake, he had to admit that barrier wasn’t normal.

However, for him, it wouldn’t be a problem.

"You deduce correctly, brother, we can’t let the boss waste power foolishly," Kalfou indicated, as he adjusted his hat. "By the way, I’m going back ho, I don’t think you’ll need anymore."

The doll walked until it reached Anansi’s robe, and with difficulty climbed until reaching one of the pockets and entering it.

"Thanks for everything, Kalfou. Legba, I’m counting on you," the woman said with a calm attitude.

The doll nodded as it jumped from the pocket.

It was ti to destroy a barrier.
