Chapter 803: Chapter 672: Darwin’s Steam Hand
Eagle Nest City Suburb, Madeline Manor.
In the study belonging to Rose Madeline, the lady of the manor was engaging in her daily routine.
After encountering the “husband transformation incident,” this scholar, recognized as one of the most knowledgeable won in the Federation, had begun an endeavor to beco a true “Great Polymath.” She imrsed herself in work almost every day, absorbing vast amounts of mysterious knowledge at an unimaginable pace.
At the mont, Rose, wearing glasses and exuding a strong scholarly air alongside a noble and mature deanor, was simultaneously reading a book called “Dark Age Sects Encyclopedia” and responding to so inquiry docunts based on the information within.
The latter was her actual profession.
As an advisor to major extraordinary organizations, she could conveniently gain access to knowledge from these organizations, but she must also provide consulting services.
In this study filled with mysterious books and curios, apart from the rustling sounds, there was no other movent.
Even though Rose’s maid and assistant, Grace, was always working, being a ghost, her every move was silent and imperceptible.
As Grace put back the dozen books Rose had reviewed and turned to prepare refreshnts for her mistress, Rose Madeline, who was writing response docunts, suddenly paused her hand and naturally set down the quill.
With her other hand, she put down the “Dark Age Sects Encyclopedia” and adjusted her glasses, addressing the busy ghostly assistant: “Grace, you can take a rest now. I want to conduct a dissection experint. If there’s nothing urgent, let others know not to disturb .”
“Yes, miss.”
Grace, with a pliant smile, bowed before quietly phasing through the wall to leave the study.
With the departure of the bustling ghost, the already silent study was left with only the figure and movents of Rose Madeline.
Then, she stood up directly, left the desk, and headed deeper into the study, where there was a seemingly small but fully equipped laboratory.
Does every scholar have a transcendent laboratory?
Naturally, this is not true. Scholars are actually divided into theoretical and practical factions.
However, upon reaching a higher realm and as knowledge proliferates, almost all theoretical scholars turn into practical ones.
As Rose Madeline was aiming to beco a Great Polymath, she had naturally shifted to the practical faction long ago.
At this mont, she entered the laboratory, thodically preparing and preheating various tools like “extraordinary cutting tools” or “extraordinary fla tools.” Before being promoted to a higher realm, she was still an ordinary person.
Thus, Rose Madeline could not conduct experints in an unconventional manner like Tang Qi.
As she went about her tasks, a horrific change silently appeared behind her.
From the gaps in the door and walls, pitch-black, viscous liquid penetrated effortlessly, flowing and converging to form a void-ridden, black-spotted face that constantly mutated at its edges.
As if possessing intelligence, it swiftly avoided obstacles in front, aiming to envelop Rose Madeline, who was poised with anatomy tools yet unprepared with a “test subject,” deep in contemplation.
Its speed was extrely fast, like a phantom, but it made no sound.
However, the instant it entered the laboratory’s area, it encountered an unexpected series of incidents.
Initially, it was the disappearance of Rose Madeline’s figure from the front.
She transford from reality into nihility.
Soon after, the entire laboratory was sealed shut.
The ghostly radiance surged forth, transforming the laboratory into a square “Light Prison.”
Following that, an item resembling a “record player” in one corner of the laboratory suddenly erupted with visible ripples, unleashing a specialized sonic attack targeting “extraordinary creatures.”
The black-spotted face was imdiately shaken by the sonic waves, unable to maintain its form. It beca a mass of twisted black flesh with irregular, bulging, densely packed buds.
Without giving it any ti to resist, at least a dozen curios burst forth from various places in the laboratory, emitting tenfold terrifying power yet entirely different radiant flashes across the sealed space.
A scream resembling a wail echoed throughout the laboratory for several seconds.
Sizzle! Sizzle! Sizzle!
Sounding like a hot knife slicing through fresh flesh.
Within the laboratory, dozens of red lasers sliced a mass of black, viscous, flesh into equal portions, each plopping down into an oddly shaped, glass-topped chanical curios which quickly shut its lid and began to emit steam.
Then, inside the vessel, above the slabs of black flesh attempting to reunite, over a dozen “extraordinary instrunts” like surgical knives, drills, and tweezers erged simultaneously.
Violet light, carrying special probing power, swept over the contents rapidly concluding the examination.
A cold chanical voice resonated in the laboratory.
“Target identified as a part of so biological aggregation, lacking independent intelligence, energy level… described by extraordinary law as between professional level and legendary level, threat assessnt: moderate.”
As the voice echoed, the sealed laboratory opened again.
With unchanged expression, Rose Madeline entered slowly, now clad in a white work uniform.
Approaching the curios nad “Darwin’s Steam Hand,” its purpose was to endow an ordinary person with the capability of dissecting legendary level extraordinary creatures, a high-level curios gifted by the Ancient Mystical Vault to draw her in.
The various Curios that erupted within the laboratory and rapidly weakened the Abnormalities were mostly bestowed upon her by various Extraordinary Organizations.
As she began operating the Steam Curio with the lengthy na, she asked the air, “How did it bypass the outer defenses and successfully infiltrate my study?”
“Beep! Beep! Result analysis… unknown!”
Inside the study, a chanical voice responded.
Rose furrowed her brows and asked again, “Query the database, is there any related information?”
“Query results… target is a New Life Form, would you like to proceed with temporary naming.”
Listening to the new response, the confusion on Rose’s face deepened.
She looked through the glass, watching the black liquid, divided into small pieces, transform into clumsy, slug-like creatures that crawled slowly, touching one another, rging at an excruciatingly slow rate.
“Hmm?”
Suddenly, Rose’s gaze focused on the antenna of one of the “slugs.”
There, a faint light glead quickly, then vanished in a blink.
Yet, even faster was the sweep of the purple Radiance, following Rose’s thoughts once more.
“Beep! Beep! Energy source exceeding level limit detected, as described by Extraordinary Law, this energy source is so unknown divine power.”
“Threat level increased, recomnd target destruction.”
As the voice sounded, Rose Madeline sat excitedly in front of the cold laboratory table, her hands reaching for the Curio known as “Darwin’s Steam Hand.”
The curiosity for unknown mysterious Knowledge surged in her eyes behind the glasses.
It was obviously impossible to proceed with any destruction; she seed about to enter the state of a mad scientist.
She simultaneously operated the Curio and bowed her head, the lenses reflecting so light, murmuring to herself:
“A Life Aggregation, containing unknown divine power, possibly a life form radiated from a temporarily masterless ‘Divine Source,’ if only the secret inside could be unveiled… Right, Tang would definitely be interested in it, perhaps I should send a sample to him?”
Rose said, her hands quickly maneuvering, but the anticipated scene of the Extraordinary tools dissecting and cutting the Abnormality did not appear.
In contrast, with Rose’s operation, all the tools retracted, and the high-level Curio suddenly emitted a sharp buzzing sound, releasing one gas after another onto the clumsy “slugs.”
The cold chanical voice rang out tily.
“Self-destruct program initiated, beginning target paralysis, will Self-Destruct in ten seconds, ten, nine, eight…”
The countdown started, but inside the instrunt, the little slugs continued their clumsy performance, as if it was all just Rose Madeline overreacting.
She could easily reach out and stop the Curio from Self-Destructing.
But at this mont, Rose Madeline remained silent, with a hint of mockery on her face. Not only did she not stop the Self-Destruct, she swiftly turned and dashed towards the outside of the laboratory.
A more terrifying change happened imdiately.
Hiss! Hiss! Hiss!
The entire laboratory seed to enter a berserk mode.
Amid chaotic tremors, the Light Prison appeared once more.
And beneath the laboratory, as the ghost light cut through, cracks erged, and behind the cracks was an Endless mystery. A terrifying pulling force was born, intending to drag the entire laboratory into the mystery, then Self-Destruct amid a rumbling sound.
The only survivor would be Rose Madeline, as the Light Screen capable of blocking Legendary Level Extraordinary Creatures would not harm her.
And at this mont, half of her body had already left the laboratory area.
But just as Rose Madeline was about to completely leave, ti suddenly halted.
A strongly polluting aura, centered behind Rose, began to spill out.
Wherever it passed, everything was covered by a black liquid. Dubbed “Darwin’s Steam Hand,” the Curio that was supposed to Self-Destruct ceased its operation; the berserk laboratory cald down, and the cracks leading to the mystery seed sealed with asphalt-like black liquid.
Those little “slugs” originally housed in the glass instrunts simultaneously erged, flowing together to form an extrely disharmonious, twisted human body, complete with a torso, limbs, and a head, yet possessing no distinct features.
It seed to be a genderless being.
It appeared unaccustod to a human shape, awkwardly moving forward, arriving behind Rose Madeline, and then its head twisted automatically to face her.
The next second, in Rose Madeline’s eyes, a hollow, twisted face, seemingly grinning exaggeratedly, was reflected.
From that gaping, dark mouth, unprecedented malice erupted.
As if nurous voices overlapped, drilling into Rose’s mind.
“Tell , how did you discover…?”
