"I already ate with mom, and you don’t have to clean up the dishes now. Let Lin Xuanze do it when he cos back."

After assigning the chore, Lin Xiang left the Lin Family ho with Liu Lanfang, both carrying their bags.

She had finished her al and snapped a photo of the leftover food to send to Lin Xuanze.

[Rember to clean the dishes on the table when you co back.]

At that mont, it was also dinner ti for him, and after waiting a bit, she saw a string of question marks sent by him.

She curled her lips and her eyes slightly lifted, her slender and pale fingers quickly tapping on the phone’s keyboard.

[Aunt Xiang said you should do it.]

Lin Xuanze: [...]

Mom, please treat like a real son!

While she feasted on fish and at, he nibbled on bread and still had to wash the dishes upon returning—was this house even his ho?

Annoyed, he exited the WeChat conversation, fiercely biting into his bread, ’slurp’ finishing it with a gulp of milk while Wei Xuan suddenly appeared, draping an arm around his shoulder in a gesture of close friendship.

"What are you doing here, kid? Where’s Sister Yue? Why didn’t she co to class today?"

He had ssaged Sister Yue without a reply; had she gone off to have fun sowhere else?

Nowadays, just hearing Yun Yue’s na made Lin Xuanze wish he had added more mustard last night. Of course, though he thought that, he’d never dare to actually do it next ti.

Swallowing the bread and milk, he found his mouth tasting slightly bitter and said resentfully, "Feasting at ho!"

Wei Xuan stared at the bread in his hands, showing a hint of sympathy.

He had heard maintaining a girlfriend could be expensive, and Sister Yue seed to be a particularly costly type, considering she had gifted his dad a present worth over a hundred thousand last ti.

"Co on, let treat you to a good al." Wei Xuan hooked his shoulder and led him away, not pleased that Lin Xuanze was Sister Yue’s boyfriend but since he was her man, he wouldn’t let him live so modestly.

Lin Xuanze: "...no need, I’m full."

Wei Xuan thought he was worried about money, so he kindly added, "Don’t be shy with ! Although your bread and milk are nutritious, they aren’t very filling! Guys need to eat at!"

Lin Xuanze: "..."

Although his status at ho had dropped since Yun Yue had arrived, his mom really hadn’t shortchanged him on food or allowance.

He ate bread today only because he had been too absorbed in his studies, missing the cafeteria alti and too lazy to go out, so he bought bread and milk from the school store.

Wei Xuan dragged him out for a hot pot al, and by the ti they returned, the first period of the night self-study was over. They were caught red-handed by Li Hongsheng and were dragged directly to the office for a lecture.

It was Lin Xuanze’s first ti being called to the director’s office for a lecture and he spent the entire ti with his head down, wishing he could just disappear.

He finally understood how Class Seven felt all these years, no wonder they were so afraid of Director Li.

Wei Xuan, however, acted indifferent, as if he was an old hand at this, listening with one ear and letting it out the other, unbothered by the scolding.

He was used to being called into the office at his vocational school and was already immune to it.

After they left, Lin Xuanze glared at him with a cold look, "Don’t drag out to eat next ti."

Wei Xuan: "..."

Your way of eating hot pot really slapped your own face.

...

After dinner, Yun Yue went upstairs to sit on the balcony, pulling out her unfinished sketches to continue drawing.

She needed to submit several paintings for the Painting Association exhibition soon; Old Man Yao had already started pressuring her, calling daily. Bothered by the disturbance, she hadn’t answered, planning to deliver the paintings directly once completed.

Then a call ca in, and she glanced at the number—speaking of Cao Cao, and Cao Cao appears.

"You finally answered my call! I thought you had blocked ! You ungrateful apprentice!" Jiang Wenshan was almost breathless with frustration.

He had made so many calls to her, none answered, either hanging up or going unanswered, and once, after not picking up the first ti, she had even turned her phone off the second ti!

If it weren’t for his good nature, he would have been infuriated!

The only person daring not to answer the phone was her!

Yun Yue kept the phone far away from her ear until he had finished speaking, casually painting on the palette, her voice lazy, "What unfilial disciple? I haven’t even formally beco a disciple yet."

"I don’t care! You’re my disciple! Little Yingtiao has already taken Old Man Yao as her master, and he brags to all day about how great Little Yingtiao is!

As if he needs to say anything! Hmph!"

He couldn’t hold back his temper due to his fiery nature. He and Little Yingtiao had known each other for so many years. It was rely an additional role of a master. What was there to boast about!

They were still the best of friends!

She still called him Grandpa Jiang!

Was he bragging?

Yun Yue: "..."

"Once you finish your college entrance exams, co to Beijing, and I’ll take you as my disciple! We’ll have a grand ceremony. The apprentice ceremony of my disciple, Jiang Wenshan’s, must be bigger than his!"

It didn’t matter whether she agreed or not; the ceremony was happening regardless!

Yun Yue felt that he was just like a child throwing a tantrum. She was indifferent to what he had said, knowing she would eventually beco his disciple anyway. If she didn’t agree this ti, she might just make him angry enough to end up in the hospital.

"Whatever you say." Her indifferent response excited Jiang Wenshan trendously.

"This... are you saying you’re agreeing to beco my disciple?"

This surprise caught him totally off guard; he had not expected her to agree so readily!

Yun Yue: "Do I have a choice?"

Jiang Wenshan: "No, you don’t! I’m going to tell Old Man Yao right now."

He hung up the phone. Yun Yue counted silently to five in her mind, then pressed the call button.

Jiang Wenshan’s breathless voice ca through her ear, "Hurry up with those five paintings! The exhibition is in half a month! If you can’t produce them, I’ll plaster your face all over them!"

After he hung up, she smirked, dropped her gaze, turned off her phone screen, and tossed it aside to continue painting.

For her, painting five canvases was as easy as drinking water—two days total, one day for drafting, another for coloring.

But realistically, if she didn’t slack off, she could finish in one day.

She had completed three paintings by ten o’clock at night when she heard footsteps in the hallway and knew Lin Xuanze had co back. From her room, she faintly heard the sound of dishes clanging in the kitchen, followed by the crisp, clear sound of porcelain shattering.

"..."

This couldn’t be his first ti washing dishes, could it?

She put down her brush, stood up, and walked out. Leaning on the railing, she watched him mischievously as he tried to hide the evidence. Was he afraid of being scolded by Aunt Xiang?

Pretending not to see, she went downstairs, opened the fridge, and grabbed a bottle of sparkling water, startling him and causing him to panic a bit. She smirked slightly and glanced at his face, "That apron suits you."

Lin Xuanze watched her ascend the stairs, speechless: "..."

He had a feeling as if she had witnessed the whole incident.

He really knew how to wash dishes!

Washing dishes was such a simple task. How could he possibly not know how to do it!

He had known how since he was young!

It was just that he had used too much dish soap, his grip slipped, and the plate had "smashed" onto the floor.

"Um, I can wash dishes." He tried to salvage his image a bit.

Yun Yue stopped, turned around, and solemnly said, "Yes, you can wash them after they’re clean."

Lin Xuanze: "..."

If only her tone had been a bit more serious, he might have believed her.
