Chapter 248: I’m Guessing Three
There have been weird pulsations coming from the dungeon?
Roel was taken aback to hear Chris’ words. He quickly ran through the plotline of Eyes of the Chronicler that he still rembered, but it only made him blink his eyes in confusion.
Based on his experience thus far, he realized that the butterfly effects arising from his changes weren’t as pronounced as he thought. Except for certain special circumstances or direct interference on his part, there was still a good chance that events from the ga would still play out as they were supposed to.
Of course, he understood that the referential value of the prophetic Eyes of the Chronicler was falling with all of the changes he had brought about. For one, the events between the female capture targets and Paul Ackermann were unlikely to work out anymore since their relationship wouldn’t snowball. Nevertheless, he expected most of the background details to remain constant.
Yet, he didn’t recall the ga ntioning anything about an anomaly in the dungeon, which ant that things had started diverging from the ga plotline here.
“Here, take this. It’s the oil extract from the Lamp of Hocoming. If you find yourself stuck in the dungeon, light up the oil and follow its lead. It should bring you out safely.”
Chris took out a small wooden bottle and passed it over. Roel examined the bottle curiously and saw that it was filled with translucent oil-like fluid.
After entrusting the magic tool into Roel’s hands, she gave a few more words of advice before taking her leave. As a teacher of the academy, her action was bordering on cheating by according preferential treatnt to a student, so it would be unwise for her to remain here and garner more attention.
Roel looked at the departing figure of the crimson-haired woman with a moved heart.
This descendant of an Assembly’s mber sure is a warm-hearted person. Her ancestor must be one of Kayde’s close friends, possibly even having left so words on the ancient treant’s body before. I didn’t expect her to be so excited at the notion of being able to send a letter to Kayde.
Ahhh, it’s a pity that she left so quickly though. I didn’t get a chance to ask her about ‘Academic’.
Roel sighed in regret at having wasted an opportunity to acquire precious information, but on a more positive note, it shouldn’t be too hard for him to approach her once more at a later date since she was a teacher in the academy. Rather, he should focusing his attention on the upcoming ‘Night of the Demons’.
Roel continued gobbling down his food while fiddling with the wooden bottle in his hand. He thought a bit deeper into the matter and felt that while the information regarding the dungeon’s anomaly ca as a surprise, it might not necessarily be a cause for concern.
Paul Ackermann was only at Origin Level 5 at the start of the ga, and he didn’t have any cheats either, which led to him being quickly eliminated from the dungeon. On top of that, he didn’t have any friends in the academy at that point in ti, so it was possible that there was an anomaly with the dungeon in the ga too, just that he wasn’t privy to the information.
Besides, so what if there are weird pulsations? Could the dungeon possibly be as dangerous as the Witness State?
Roel shook his head decisively. He stowed away the wooden bottle and quickly finished up his food before heading off to explore the campus with his spirit guide.
There were still a few hours before ‘Night of the Demons’ opened, so there were many students loitering around the campus ground with little spheres in their hands, though not everyone was having an easy ti coaxing those little creatures. It turned out that the spirit guides were quite the haughty ones, and Roel seed to really be the only exception here.
His spirit guide was currently circling around him energetically, shocking many of the students he t along the way. So tried approaching him for advice, but there was no secret trick Roel could share with them.
Really, why won’t you believe when I say that I’ve done nothing special here?
While dealing with those troubled students, Roel looked at his lively spirit guide with a slightly perplexed look on his face.
He rembered that Paul had to spend an entire afternoon to coax this little thing, so he was prepared for the long haul too. He honestly didn’t expect the spirit guide to grow so fond of him shortly after being stimulated his mana.
Is this due to my Origin Attribute? Does the Crown Origin Attribute have exceptional talent at taming?
Roel pondered for a long ti before shaking his head. No matter what the reason was, it was a good thing that he managed to get close to the spirit guide so quickly, which ant that he could use the ti he had saved to deal with other matters. So, he began making his way toward the white building he had seen when he first passed through the academy gates.
It was not as if Roel suffered from short-term mory, so there was no way he would have already forgotten about the intriguing resonance he experienced earlier on. He had already made a ntal note to investigate the matter whenever he had ti.
Weirdly enough, he felt like he was looking into the dirty scandals of the Ascart House.
Considering his unique Origin Attribute, it was likely that he had resonated with a blood kin. In fact, he was starting to suspect if his father had failed to keep himself in check back then and unintentionally left an offspring behind sowhere.
Yes, it did sound awfully cliché, but it wasn’t implausible either.
Soon, the wary Roel arrived at the white building. To his surprise, the white building turned out to be an empty facility that served no purpose at all.
According to the staff mber in charge of maintenance, this building would usually be reserved by the Scholar Guilds at the start of the sester for promotional purposes due to its proximity to the academy gates, which guaranteed decent foot traffic, but it would be abandoned as soon as the recruitnt season was over.
The Saint Freya Academy was humongous in every aning of the word, almost spanning the size of the national parks Roel had been to in his previous life. Other than key academy buildings, there were also many constructions funded by private donations. So nobles would even dump money on the academy to have a private residence built on the campus. Due to that, there was a severe problem of abandoned buildings
“Do you know who was here an hour before the entrance ceremony?”
“An hour before the entrance academy... It should be either the mbers of the Enforcent Division or the Scholar Guilds,” replied the staff mber.
Roel fell into deep thoughts once more.
It was normal for the Enforcent Division to move out and maintain security during the start of the sester, so Roel was leaning more toward this direction. To be frank, he didn’t want to have anything to do with the Enforcent Division because of Lilian.
It wouldn’t be easy for him to look for a person right beneath Lilian’s eyelids. It was likely that the latter might think that he was up to sothing, especially if he gave out a reason as ludicrous as ‘looking for a kin in the academy’.
I actually have a long-lost sibling in your Enforcent Division. Will you allow to investigate your mbers?
It wouldn’t take a genius to figure out how Lilian would respond to those words that sounded nothing more of a poorly thought of excuse. He should be thankful if the latter let him off with just a snort and a roll of her eyes.
Roel sighed deeply before taking his leave. After walking a distance away, he turned around to look at the building once more with a conflicted look on his face. He knew that he couldn’t give up just like that since the Ascart House was severely lacking in offspring.
“Forget it. If I really do have a long-lost sibling here, we should get a chance to et in the future.”
Roel consoled himself before turning around to leave.
anwhile, on the other side of the academy, a uniford Lilian stood on a pedestal as she gazed over a dark forest while listening to the discussions of her aides.
“The Ringbearer this year should be the Theocracy’s princess, right?”
“It’s likely so, but it seems like Rosa stands a good chance too. Lord Lilian, what do you think?”
Lilian’s purple eyes flickered a little upon hearing the question. She gazed at the vast forest before her as a black figure flashed across her mind.
“I’m guessing that there’ll be three this year,” she remarked before the shocked gazes of her subordinates.
