When Li Chuntao and Su Ling arrived at the penthouse, Li Chuntao was shocked to see Shen Zichen lying on the couch, an arm resting over his eyes, with two kittens curled on his chest. She found herself perplexed seeing him here unannounced.
For the past week, Shen Zichen decided to invade her ho and neither Su Ling and Hou Chen bothered to stop him from barging inside her safe haven. However, tonight, how co he was able to enter without a problem when there was no one to let him inside?
Su Ling excused himself and decided to camp in his room, giving the two so privacy. Hou Chen had inford him of what she'd seen after they ca ho from the banquet and initially didn't believe her until he walked on the two, kissing at the balcony the other day.
The sudden turn of events shocked him but he was smart enough never to raise the issue when speaking with their Miss Chuntao. It was not their place to question why she was having an affair now, with Shen Zichen.
"How did you manage to co inside?" Was Li Chuntao's question as she threw her purse on the loveseat next to her before crossing her arms on her chest while glaring at the man taking a nap on her couch.
"Uhm… Chuntao lower your voice. You might startle the kittens." Shen Zichen removed his arm and looked up with bleary eyes at Li Chuntao's face. "Ah, I see you're ho. I'm starting to wonder if Mu Jianyu has sohow found a way to kidnap you."
"Answer my question and why did you bring kittens to my place?"
Oh hell, if these kitties decided to sharpen their claws on her furniture, she'd make sure Shen Zichen pays for the damages.
"A patient gifted them to and I couldn't say no." He sighed as he sat up, carefully placing the white and the tabby kittens on his lap. "To answer your first question, Aunt Yue has given a copy of the keycard for the front door."
"Since when?" She narrowed her eyes at him, pissed that her safe haven wasn't as peaceful as she intended it to be.
"Since you ran away from ho and tried to kill yourself," Shen Zichen looked straight into her eyes, making her flinch and look away in sha.
"You should have told …" Her voice lost her arrogance and strength as soon as he reminded him of the event that she truly regretted. She didn't think she would be able to face her parents nor Ying in the afterlife if she really succeeded in killing herself that day.
She sat next to him and allowed the white kitten to move to her lap and curled on it. Her hand reached out to its head and gently stroked it.
"So what do you plan to do with them?" She asked, loving how the kitten on her lap rubbed its head on her palm.
When she was younger, she fell in love with the white tiger owned by Madam Shen. She had tried to convince her uncle to adopt a tiger cub later, much to her Aunt Yue's horror and Uncle Yuren's amusent.
In the end, she could only sulk in the corner because neither of them agreed to take in a tiger cub as her pet.
Shen Zichen gave her a shrug but his eyes never left her.
"I might surrender them in a local animal shelter. I could keep one of them, but having two cats… I'm afraid not."
Li Chuntao gasped and glared nacingly back at him.
"How dare you? You are willing to adopt one but abandon the other? If you like them so much, you should keep them both."
"Chuntao, may I remind you that I'm not ho most of the ti? I don't want to co ho only to find my furniture destroyed if I leave them alone. At least, if I only have one, I might be able to train it." He defended.
"Fine." Li Chuntao scoffed and lifted the white kitten to her eye level seeing that it was a male. "I'll keep this little buddy here and you take the other one. If you're too busy at work, you can just drop the kitten here and let them play together."
Glad that she didn't choose a female, Li Chuntao sighed in relief. She would rather have a male kitten than a female as it could get pregnant without knowing about it.
anwhile, Shen Zichen suppressed his grin. He was actually planning to give the kittens to her since he rembered seeing her coo Xiao Bai whenever she visited Imperial Residences. But since he had a soft spot for the tubby one, he supposed keeping one of the kittens didn't sound bad at all.
The kitten on Li Chuntao's hands wled, protesting to go back to sleep. Li Chuntao rubbed its head and with a serious tone said.
"I'm your mother now. My house, my rules. You better listen to ."
The kitten owed as if it was agreeing with what she had said. Pleased that the kitten didn't make a fuss about it, Li Chuntao placed it back on her lap to let it continue sleeping.
"What will you na him?" He asked out of curiosity.
Li Chuntao stared at the white kitten who chose to yawn as he curled back on her lap to sleep.
"Mantou," she said without thinking twice. The white kitten was soft and white that reminded her of freshly stead buns she liked to eat as a child. "What about you?" Have you thought of a good na for the tabby kitten?"
"That's easy! I'll na her Chun Chun!" He exclaid, making Li Chuntao narrow her eyes again.
Was he serious? He nad the kitten after her?! Why, oh why did Shen Zichen repeatedly test her patience these days?
"Really? Shen Zichen. I don't know how you managed to secure a key to my house but I'm sure as hell I could still kick your ass out of here at any mont." She threatened him.
"Now, now. There's no need to get riled up over the na," Shen Zichen ignored the threat. "Your attitude right now is exactly the reason why I'm naming her Chun Chun! Both of you are irritable and are always demanding my attention."
Li Chuntao snorted, which was very unladylike. She rolled her eyes at Shen Zichen's absurdity. Look who's talking. Wasn't he the one who kept showing up uninvited at her house these days? Wasn't he who'd been demanding to get her attention and not the other way around?
"Young Master Shen, I suggest you take a good look at yourself in the mirror. I'm pretty sure I wasn't the one who keeps texting where I was and what ti I'm planning to go ho relentlessly."
Shen Zichen's brows furrowed.
"I was just checking on you, given that you were spending more ti with Mu Jianyu than recently." He scowled at the thought of Mu Jianyu flirting with her.
"Li Chuntao, you better not forget to let him know that you're having an affair with !" He demanded after a long silence between them.
Li Chuntao could only stare at him like he'd grown another head over his shoulder before shaking her head.. Yes, it's really clear who's demanding whose attention.
