Jo and Aki left my side and approached Yvonne. They gave her so high-quality {Heal} tablets. Robyn and Bella, on the other hand, checked on Aisha and Clarie. Zanele and Amari, along with Mia, crowded around Olamide.
"Bruh, exorcisms are no joke. Just when I think I'm off the hook, this dude shows up outta nowhere. This dude's way stronger than the ones we yeeted out before. He's built different!" cried my head saint.
I turned to Roach and asked, "You're up. You good?"
Initially I thought he would not be up to the task given how he was doing. But it seed that was no longer the case. Roach made a crooked smile while nodding, "I am. I'll kill him."
Leaving behind such words, Roach entered the golden cage and assaulted the demonkin. Contrary to just a few minutes earlier, both Roach and the demonkin were energetic. In a span of a few seconds, they had already created explosions like super saiyans.
"Juno, what about you? Are you all right?"
"Yes, Yvonne's {Sacred ground} made the air feel stifling. When she canceled it, Roach and I no longer had any trouble moving."
"I see, good to know. Please assist Roach as necessary. Do not let it get away," I commanded.
"Understood, my lord. This should be over soon. A few strikes from Roach should be enough to kill it."
"Got it," I then went towards the Saints and the newly liberated Prince.
Zanele was crying like crazy and hugged the prince as if he were her son. Amari and Mia had complicated faces as they looked at the aftermath of the exorcism.
"Prince Olamide, I am so glad you're all right."
"Matriarch Zanele, who are these people? They seem to be foreigners. Did you send for them? If you did, I wish to thank you; I thought I was going to die," he replied.
"It wasn't but was instead my son."
"You an Little Amari? How does he know them?"
"Brother Mide, I am here…"
As I didn't plan to play the spotlight, I allowed the Africans to converse without . I instead checked on the Saints, who all were eating {Heal tablets} and so snacks.
"Yvonne, talk to . What just happened?"
"Yo, it's like this, Patron. You know how the Saints used to be broke, right? So, so of us lowkey be out here faking as nuns and sliding into exorcisms. The cash is fire, so if you rack up enough, we can cover the tax. Everything we did? Just the usual moves that the exorcists be doing, no cap," she babbled incoherently.
Whenever Yvonne got excited, she forgot English and turned to slang. I could not help but feel old whenever she talked like this. I turned to Aisha, who was eating a Twinkie. Her eyes widened at seeing my expression, and she began to translate.
"Ehem. We used to join church exorcisms by humans, Patron. We pretended to be nuns and seduced them to let us join. They paid well. So if there were enough of them, we could have made it a valid alternative. The procedure we just did was all used by their Paladins."
"The what?" I asked in confusion.
Clarie then joined in as she drank a bottle of water. The blonde tank wore her wolves uniform again, not her heavy armor. "It's a term used by Reapers to call humans who fight against the Reborn, Patron. So of them are called demon hunters, vampire hunters, etc."
"But fam, peep this—this dude is straight up built different. Like, the strongest one we've had by far, no cap. If we weren't Phantoms, this whole thing would've been a straight L. Usually, we be handling E-rank or maybe D ghosts, but this one? I'm pretty sure it's A-rank for sure!"
Yvonne, still wild out of her mind, continued to explain in alien. While I did get the gist of it, it was annoying to listen to. I looked on to see Roach and the Dream Demon brawling. Their fight had little finesse and was more like a slugfest between giants.
The other wolves were still kneeling and praying. Whenever the two monsters collided, a wave of energy traveled through the air like ripples on a river. Yet the vibrations ended the mont they hit the cage of blessings.
'Speaking of which, I still haven't understood why the Sirens rate Yvonne so highly.'
I wondered why the girls weren't fawning over . I saw they were engrossed in the battle. The Sirens of the Anvil team all had dazed looks, aning there wasn't anyone ho. Juno was beside them.
'They might be discussing with the Hamr team.'
One thing I learned over the course of my marriage was that my girls were reliable. They all did everything they could to support and my goals. So whenever they did sothing I didn't understand, I wasn't afraid.
Turning to Yvonne, I asked her the questions that bothered the most.
"Yvonne, my {Kindred} and Exa all believe that Roach could never win against you. Why is that?"
The saint who heard my comnt grew bashful. She replied, practically gushing with energy.
"Yo, is this my ti to flex? Like, Patron, I'm really built different, you feel ? My strongest {Fate}, it's like, my {Sacred Ground} makes this crazy blessing zone. Inside it, nothing evil can hang. Most enemies just turn to vapor in there. And the real strong ones, like the Awakened? They can't even use their skills in my zone, fr."
Extracting what I could, I could only ask in disbelief.
"You an you create sothing like an Anti-Malice Field?"
Now I understand why the girls all said the sa thing. And based on the reactions of Juno and Roach, they felt it. If standing outside the field made them uncomfortable, being inside must be worse.
'If normal enemies die imdiately, then it could even be said to be like a debuff field or sothing. That is a crazy OP ability, and Yvonne is not even a Specter yet,' I thought in amazent.
Reborn use {Entropies}, and similar to {Fates}, they use souls to power their skills. If they had no access to malice, then it would explain why they couldn't use skills. Just fighting inside Yvonne's field would make it hard for any Reborn to do anything.
"I see, then what is this soulcage created from prayers?"
"Ayy, Patron, that's it? I just dropped so straight fire and you're out here acting like it's no biggie? Where's my props? I need the praise, fam! I'm out here flexing legendary power, give that recognition! I'm the one running this era—show so respect."
The Gen Z head saint began to get angry when I changed the topic. I believed excessive praise would inflate soone's ego. But there was nothing wrong with giving soone incredible recognition for their efforts.
"You were so amazing, Yvonne. As expected of my {Vassal}. I will be counting on you more in the future."
Pleased by my praise, Yvonne laughed and threw her head back. She placed her hands on her hips.
"Haha! Of course, Patron! I got you!"
'Sigh, I guess I should be happy my other Reapers are all busting out of their shells.'
