(Super-sized chapter asking for monthly votes) Newland City-State

“Are we going to die?”

The young gendar curled up behind the hastily erected defensive fortifications, looking up at the sky with a vacant gaze at the enormous reflection.

Ever since that shadow of a planet appeared in the sky, the whole world seed to have plunged into an even more twisted madness.

The monsters attacked people like they were insane, constantly attacking each other as well.

They were now close to running out of ammunition and supplies; once the monsters breached the defense, no one here would be able to escape the fate of death.

Next to the young gendar, the captain of the gendarrie tossed a pack of cigarettes to him, “Stand up.”

“Captain, what’s the use of struggling now?”

The young gendar, fiddling with the cigarette pack, climbed up dejectedly, glanced at the crazed monsters outside, then at his own captain who was still carefully aiming and firing, conserving ammunition,

“We’re as good as dead!

These monsters are too strong; they are no longer sothing humans can resist.

What’s the point of resisting?

Is a Divine Being going to save us or sothing?”

The captain of the gendarrie didn’t answer him but kept leaning on his rifle, carefully sniping at the approaching monsters one by one.

The exploding bullets couldn’t kill the monsters outright but could hinder their movent.

Under the veil of this silent night, blood seed to be slowly spreading.

——

Relic World·Near-Earth Space

He Ao approached the tal case bit by bit; the oppressive, twisted sensation coming from the tal case and the distorted murmurs echoing in his ears grew stronger and stronger.

This was rely a fragnt of 001.

He looked at the control platform that was completely destroyed.

He didn’t reach out to touch the control platform but instead directly reached for the cube-shaped tal case glowing with red light.

Below this tal case, at the very core of the control platform, there was a ring structure that was also destroyed, but its wear and tear were completely different from the outer layers.

A faint, flowing glimr spilled out from the remaining devices of this structure.

It was this layer of structure that supported the cube-shaped tal case.

It was inscribed with five types of script, [Suppression Field Generator Platform (Spare Structure)].

The Suppression Field Generator Platform had been restarted hundreds of years ago and then completely damaged.

But He Ao had guessed the outco when he saw the four opened cha storage cabinets in the isolation layer.

His purpose here was not to restart the control platform.

It was for Fragnt 001 encased within the tal box.

Almost the instant his hand touched the tal case, a huge wave of contamination struck his brain like a hamr, nearly causing him to lose control of his body in a short span of ti.

Witnessing all this, the nurous eyes of 009-1 behind him all trembled upwards simultaneously, as if mocking He Ao for his arrogance.

The tal case had been placed here for hundreds of years untouched, not because nobody had coveted its power, but because those who had coveted it were all dead.

Then 009-1 saw He Ao completely remove the tal case and lift the black broadsword in his hand.

Those trembling eyes instantly turned to astonishnt, followed by so kind of twisted and terrifying spatial force acting on He Ao, as countless tal shards burst from the surface of the Adam Model 1 in an instant.

This was the power of 009-1.

With its power having just delayed He Ao’s movents, it successfully extracted even more power from the ‘exchange’.

It didn’t know what He Ao intended to do, but intuition told it that it must kill He Ao, stop He Ao.

However, He Ao’s movent was not affected by this spatial distortion.

He rembered the patterns on the surface of the tal case, and then his sharp broadsword split the finely detailed tal case.

A fractured red crystal floated out slowly.

Without hesitation, he grabbed the red crystal directly.

As the twisted contamination spread throughout his body, he also activated Super mory, forcibly scanning the patterns carved on the surface of these red crystals.

Bright red tears of blood stread down from his eyes, the seeping blood nearly blurring his vision, robbing him of most of his sight.

His entire field of vision was a sea of blood red.

The twisted spatial forces from 009-1 acted upon He Ao’s body encased in the cha, almost instantly tearing apart the body within.

But He Ao’s actions didn’t halt in the slightest, as he manipulated his Divine Sense to connect to the red crystal, spreading it over the intricate patterns, and found the control pattern that directed toward Fragnt 001.

Then, he modified it to,

“K.”

At the mont the final stroke was completed, He Ao felt he had ford so sort of ‘connection’ with the red crystal in his hand.

The minute whispering burst forth like thunder, flooding He Ao’s ears, countless blood-red and distorted hatred bringing with them chaotic ssages and knowledge filling his sea of consciousness.

All color and power lost their hue in his vision and cognition, turning into a monochromatic blood-red.

He seed to have lost all perception of the world, yet at the sa ti, it was as if he had ford a connection with everything.

It was as if there were the sounds of angry whispering by his ear, and also as if there were murmurs and prayers lowly intoned.

He raised his hand, and the burning red crystal floated in his hand, a kind of twisted power filling his body, allowing him to survive in the cosmos even in the damaged state of the Adam type-1.

He lifted his head, his eyes filled with blood, and although he could no longer see anything, he still accurately ‘saw’ the massive entity composed of mist and twisted spatial fragnts.

He saw the trembling eyes hidden within the fragnts of space.

Humans can’t control Fragnt 001, but ‘K’ might be able to, which was He Ao’s only ‘chance’ to live.

009-1 was not a true Angel, its strength ca only from the power granted by its status.

And in this space, the highest status belongs to Fragnt 001.

A sort of blood-red, semi-transparent brilliance enveloped He Ao’s entire body, then kept expanding until it finally ford into a colossal and towering body in the infinite cosmos, similar to that of a planet.

That body held up the extinguished artificial sun just as He Ao held the crystal fragnt in his hand.

——

Newland City-State

The silent captain of the gendarrie fired his last bullet, then he glanced at the monster that kept drawing nearer, taking out his bayonet, and attaching it to the rifle.

The flowing blood had already reached his feet.

“Captain,”

A young gendar suddenly shouted loudly, “Look at the sky!!!”

A massive and vast radiant body stood firm above the firmant, its size so imnse it even eclipsed the phantom shadow of that huge planet, as if reflected from the cosmos onto the sky.

“What is that?”

The young gendar asked in confusion.

The gendar captain stared blankly at everything, his hoarse voice trembling slightly, “That is…

a Divine Being!”

——

Relic World· Near Earth Space

He Ao raised his hand, and the gigantic phantom in the sky also raised its hand.

The red crystal floating in He Ao’s hand shattered suddenly, and scattering red light ford a massive, warped, unfathomable red Array before the giant phantom’s palm.

The remnant power of Fragnt 001 was not strong, but it could bestow its own status onto other forces.

At this mont, 009-1 trembled as it watched the giant form, and countless thoughts raced through its frantic mind.

It should probably leave now because the terrifying power of the adversary wouldn’t last long, and it could wait until the event concluded to co back and tear the adversary apart.

But if it left, all its efforts would be in vain, and it would face the most terrible punishnts.

Moreover, the adversary didn’t seem to have such imnse strength; relying solely on the power of Fragnt 001, it couldn’t be killed.

In the end, it chose to stay.

He Ao’s eyes, now filled with blood, stared at the 009-1 before him.

For the first ti, he used Ease Thought on the ‘Angel.’

He looked up at the red Array, and the Blood-Moistening Jade Pendant erged in front of his chest.

The weightless jade pendant slowly floated in the air, aid at the Array in the sky, the twisted blood within suddenly starting to vibrate violently; He Ao was guiding the pendant’s energy.

An endless radiance shot out from the pendant, entering the blood-red Array.

The whole world seed to freeze for an instant, and then, a semi-transparent column of light imbued with blood-red brilliance burst forth from the center of the Array with terrifying force.

It descended like divine punishnt traversing endless ti and space upon this narrow expanse of the cosmos.

Fragnt 009-1 burst into a myriad of twisting space-ti shards that swiftly expanded to form an invisible spatial barrier, attempting to withstand the brilliance falling from the sky, but it was ultimately and easily pierced by the light.

The distorted blood-red contaminated those broken spatial shards, like ink dropping into clear water, effortlessly invading, piercing, and erasing all the shards.

Along with the assorted eyes within those spatial shards, wiped away as well.

As if they never existed.

And in the instant 009-1 was completely erased, the huge body of the Phantom Shadow in the universe also instantly crumbled, transforming into an intangible light that dissipated into the darkness of deep space.

In that sa instant, the overlapping phantom image of Newland City-State with the ‘Underground Palace’ started to tremble violently.

——

Outside Newland City-State

Standing on the ship, Moonlight’s B-level held onto the railing, shaking as he looked up at the vast body that seed to shield the universe.

He watched as the body raised its hand and constructed a massive blood-colored Array in the palm, as if wiping away dust, erased the once floating twisted indescribable phantom above the city,

“That is…”

he asked, trembling.

“K…”

The one who answered him wasn’t He Ao, but Li Cheng, who was likewise gazing at the body.

As they watched the massive form, twisted, enormous information had already been conveyed into their minds.

The only piece they could comprehend was a ‘word’ that seed like a na:

‘K’.

——

Relic World

Boom—

Accompanied by a soft sound, the open sluice gate was closed again.

Bathed in blood, He Ao pulled the switch for the inner-side sluice gate.

Along with the rush of rich air entering the room, He Ao stowed away his battered cha into the Pirate Treasure Box.

The divinity covering him was fading fast, returning to normal human features, and if he stayed outside even a mont longer, he would likely turn into a space popsicle.

“Cough—”

He Ao coughed once, glancing at his palm.

A piece that appeared completely transparent, yet seemingly deep and layered, leading to other spaces—a ‘fragnt’—was held in his hand.

Designation 009-1.

This was sothing the ‘Angel’ left behind, but it seed severely damaged, stripped of all external divinity, with hardly any power remaining to be stimulated.

Nevertheless, it was still a remnant of a Higher Being.

He Ao pocketed the fragnt, then looked at the Blood-Moistening Jade Pendant.

His vision hadn’t fully recovered, still dominated by a great amount of blood-red, but he could still discern that the pendant’s transparency had increased significantly.

The strike he had previously activated consud all the energy of the pendant, almost turning the entire pendant completely transparent.

But after 009-1 was ‘killed,’ it wasn’t entirely erased; there remained so sort of distortion, invisible to the naked eye.

The good news was, these remnants appeared within the sensing range of the pendant, and as He Ao’s kill, the remnants could also be ‘sacrificed and absorbed’ by the pendant.

Although it was Fragnt 001’s ontological power that truly killed 009-1, and most of the Angel’s remnants were entirely erased in that attack, the remnants left weren’t much.

But even so, after absorbing those remaining remnants, the pendant’s energy recovered about sixty percent.

The fragnt he now held was the ‘residue’ that the pendant couldn’t absorb after taking in the remnants.

It seed the pendant could only absorb energy, unable to take away ontological and Talent Sequences as a true Divine Being’s sacrifice might.

Having stowed the pendant, He Ao followed the isolation layer’s elevator, climbing back to the fifth floor.

Feiya’s Coffin was still there; He Ao checked it, then fastened the coffin with Black Rope and swiftly ascended the stairs to the fourth floor.

The body of the ‘Carpenter’ on the fourth floor was still there.

He Ao was sowhat surprised to find that the Blood-Moistening Jade Pendant still responded to the Carpenter’s corpse.

It seed that even if he didn’t absorb energy from a creature he had killed imdiately, the pendant could still absorb it within a certain tifra.

However, the Carpenter’s body must have been at the very limit of this tifra.

He Ao raised his hand and used the pendant to absorb the energy from the sacrificed Carpenter’s body, and the energy in the entire pendant increased a bit more.

Then he continued upwards, reaching the third layer, where he encountered a multitude of scattered ‘doors’.

These doors were no longer intact, twisting out of shape.

These were the ‘powers’ left in the Underground Palace by 009-1.

After the death of 009-1, these doors began to crumble rapidly.

He Ao raised his hand, and the doors turned into streaks of light, appearing in his palm.

This was his fixed C-level ability from Feiya, his third ‘Miracle’: Pawn.

This Miracle was divided into two parts, ‘acquire’ and ‘redeem’.

When using acquire, one could pay a certain price to gain control over items of C-level or below that were not of a higher status than the user, becoming the controller of these items.

These items were then categorized into two types, naly ownerless and owned.

To acquire an ‘owned’ item, one needed the owner’s permission, and after deducting a certain amount, the price paid would go directly to the item’s original owner.

Whereas ownerless items could be acquired directly by paying a certain price.

Counterintuitively, the ‘acquire’ ability’s definition of ‘owned’ and ‘ownerless’ was peculiar.

He Ao had used this ability to sense the items he carried, and within the realm of acquire, it appeared that only items marked with a Control Array were considered ‘owned’, whereas all others were ‘ownerless’.

Inclusive were the black broadsword and bone sword He Ao was currently using, which were ‘ownerless’, although items that had been used by soone for a long period of ti seed to have a sort of ‘user’s right’ by default.

And through acquire, one could pay a price to pawn a portion of these ownerless items’ ‘user’s rights’.

For items whose ‘user’s rights’ had been pawned, the original owners could still use them, but the usage would beco incredibly awkward.

This was how Feiya had dealt with the weapons in He Ao’s hands before.

The ‘redeem’ skill was the reverse of ‘acquire’, allowing for the return of previously acquired items to their original owners; ownerless items were simply released.

Using ‘redeem’ would allow one to recover part of the price previously paid.

However, the redeem’s restriction was that it could not pass the items to people other than the actual ‘original owners’, yet proper use of this skill could also achieve other effects.

Certainly, the most perverted aspect of this ability was not that it could pawn other peoples’ items in use, but rather its definition of ‘items’—it could acquire sothing close to concepts.

For instance, these scattered ‘doors’ around, which seed to be incorporeal forces, were also regarded as ‘items’ by acquire, hence could be acquired to gain their control.

Each of these energies was weak on its own and did not possess a status, eting both the strength and status requirents for acquire.

This was also the thod Feiya previously used to ‘open doors’.

However, unlike before with Feiya, when she collected these energies the energies were actually ‘owned’, being part of the power of 009-1.

So when Feiya acquired this portion of power, it was essentially with the consent of 009-1.

But when He Ao killed off 009-1, these powers beca ownerless, allowing him to directly acquire them without the owner’s permission

As He Ao collected energy, he quickly traversed the passageway, reaching the second layer.

As 009-1’s energy continued to dissipate, the ‘Underground Palace’ and ‘Newland City-State’, which were originally ‘exchanging’, would separate rapidly.

If one were to slow down, even having energy wouldn’t be enough to open the doors.

The most conspicuous thing on the second layer was the withered Vine.

As He Ao had only recently eliminated it, it could still be absorbed, and he naturally used the pendant to absorb its energy.

The ‘doors’ in this layer were even more densely packed.

Perhaps because He Ao carried fragnts left by 009-1, all the remaining ‘doors’ around him subconsciously moved closer to him.

He Ao continued upward until he reached the first layer.

The energy from the Vine seed to be very abundant, as radiance continued to flow from all directions, pouring into his Blood-Moistening Jade Pendant.

Then, he wildly dashed through the space of the first layer according to his mories, killing all attacking monsters along the way, absorbing them with the pendant, and ultimately arrived in front of the settlent on the first layer.

The tightly closed gate opened slowly.

He Ao, with the last glow from the Vine’s remains incorporated into his pendant, his eyes filled with blood-red, looked beyond the gate at Kalin and others who were rushing toward him with bandages and old dicines in their hands, their expressions a mix of bewildernt and worry.

His hand on the gatefra, countless points of light were released and converged on the gate.

A smile crept onto his blood-stained cheek,

“We’re going ho.”
