Chapter 1591: Chapter 1591: Leaping Across the Sky

Bang—

He Ao knocked out two gang mbers by the door with punches and then stripped one of them of his assault rifle, handing it to Gemu beside him, “Can you use this, Old Geezer?”

“When I was a Bounty Hunter, you didn’t even know where you were!” Gemu took the gun and pulled the bolt. He looked down at the gang mber before him, “What’s up with these gangs? We’ve paid the rent.”

“They ca to catch .” He Ao handed the other gun to Sianna and took the walkie-talkie from the chest of the gang mber on the ground, turning it on.

A voice, laced with a hint of savagery, ca from the walkie-talkie, “Zi—everyone, slowly close in, block all passages layer by layer, be careful, don’t alert the snake in the grass—the opponent is very cunning, we just need to stall him—rember, don’t get isolated—”

He Ao looked up, staring forward.

Faintly, footsteps were coming from the deepest part.

“They’re here for you?” Gemu said, sowhat puzzled, “Who did you provoke?”

“I didn’t provoke anyone, it’s the protagonist’s whirlpool aura; the wheel of fortune has turned, and it’s my turn to be the protagonist, Old Geezer,” He Ao replied casually, then turned his head to the side, “Do you know where we can get to the rooftop?”

Gemu was about to speak when Sianna intervened, “We just ca down from the rooftop; there’s an elevator, just around the corner, you can go straight up to the rooftop, but it’s stopped at the 29th floor.”

“The elevator works?” Gemu shook his head, “Those gang mbers might be taking the elevator up.”

“It’s okay, their target is .” He Ao shook his head and looked at Sianna, “Which way?”

“Right there.” Sianna pointed to the corner leading away from the approaching footsteps.

He Ao lifted Gemu onto his back, “Sister Anna, lead the way.”

Sianna nodded and imdiately walked ahead.

“Loren, what exactly happened?” Gemu, clinging to He Ao’s back, gritted his teeth, gripped the gun, and stared ahead, “Did you go boxing last night?”

“Yes, I won.” He Ao spoke softly.

“Is that why they want to kill you?” Gemu sighed softly, “That’s why I didn’t want you taking random boxing matches, when the Black Wolf Gang wants you dead, even if you live, you’re as good as dead.”

“It’s not because of that,” He Ao quickly glanced to both sides, keeping up with Sianna, “They have other reasons to kill , and it’s not the Black Wolf Gang, it’s sothing higher up.”

He laughed casually, “I told you, I must have gotten the protagonist card; these people are just my ‘face cards.'”

“You brat, be serious,” this seed to go beyond Gemu’s understanding, and his voice was thick with confusion, “You’ve never offended any big shot, why would they want to kill you?”

“I don’t know,” He Ao shook his head, “but it’s probably related to , or maybe they just don’t like . When people kill ants, they usually don’t need a reason; if they want to kill, they kill.”

Hearing this, Gemu was silent for a mont.

“And you,” He Ao continued to ask, “why didn’t you tell and just went straight to the Black Wolf Gang?”

“When I got the news, you had already taken the boxing match; your life was no longer yours to decide,” Gemu said softly, “I had to find the Black Wolf Gang to solve the problem; if we could convince them, you wouldn’t die in the match.”

“And you ended up like this?” He Ao sneered.

“Damn that bastard Mu He, taking money and then killing witnesses; I always knew he wasn’t human, but I didn’t expect him to not be human at all.” Gemu couldn’t help but curse.

“Timid old geezer, you got embarrassed now,” He Ao laughed, then paused, “Why didn’t you send a ssage if you’re still alive?”

“My wristband broke,” Gemu rasped, “I only woke up not long ago, and I had just asked Sianna to call you, but couldn’t get through, I thought you were already dead.”

“You called ?” He Ao raised his wristband and opened the ssages, a pile of missed calls from unfamiliar numbers, most of them marketing ads.

“The second one is,” Gemu said, looking at those numbers, unable to resist cursing, “those stupid promotion calls.”

He Ao looked at the second number and quickly added it to the whitelist.

When that call ca, he was in a life-and-death struggle with that man in black under the gaze of the scarecrow.

“By the way, how did you know I was here?” Gemu watched He Ao’s actions and suddenly rembered sothing.

The call didn’t go through.

“Soone used software to disguise as your number and sent a ssage.” He Ao responded quickly.

Gemu was slightly stunned, realizing sothing instantly, couldn’t help but say, “This is a trap for you? You shouldn’t have co!”

“You shouldn’t have gone to find Mu He last night either; if you hadn’t gone to him,” He Ao retorted, “none of this would have happened today.”

Gemu’s words were stuck.

At this point, Sianna in front had already stopped, and an elevator had appeared in their field of view.

This elevator was quickly going up and had reached the 29th floor.

He Ao put Gemu down, handing him over to Sianna.

Ding—

The elevator opened, and five ard gang mbers appeared in He Ao’s field of view.

They looked at He Ao, slightly stunned.

But before they could react, He Ao stepped forward, grabbed the heads of the two in front, and slamd them together, knocking them out and tossing them out of the elevator.

Then he took another step, chopping the jaws of the two at the back, causing them to pass out simultaneously.

The last gang mber at the back widened his eyes at everything, watching He Ao walk over, and swallowed nervously.

He Ao smiled at him.

The gang mber awkwardly smiled back.

In the next instant, his neck was struck, and he passed out.

He Ao threw the three fainted mbers out of the elevator, letting Gemu and Sianna in, pressed the rooftop button, and stepped out.

“Loren, aren’t you coming?” Sianna asked, sowhat puzzled.

“Their target is ; I need to stay on this floor for now. Don’t worry, I have a plan,” He Ao shook his head, smiling, “I’ll co find you soon.”

He Ao raised his wristband to call that missed number.

Sianna paused, also raising her wristband. She glanced at He Ao and answered the call.

“Don’t hang up,” He Ao said with a smile, “Stay in touch.”

“Okay,” Sianna nodded, “Be careful.”

Gemu looked at He Ao, seemingly wanting He Ao to go with him, but upon seeing He Ao’s calm and determined gaze, he hesitated, then said softly, “Hurry up and co up.”

“Mm.” He Ao nodded slightly.

The elevator closed and quickly ascended.

Gemu raised his head, watching the changing numbers in the elevator, suddenly thought of sothing, and looked at Sianna beside him, bewildered, “What do we do after we get to the rooftop?”

······

Bang—

A corpse fell from an opening, hitting the wreckage of a container and rolling to the side.

Bang—

He Ao jumped down from above, landing on the edge of the wreckage.

He reached out, lifted the large iron plate remaining on the container.

The residual Divine Sense left there returned to his hand.

In the dim light, amid overlapping cent rubble, the scarecrow lying face down appeared in his view.

He picked up a nearby steel plate, placed it on the scarecrow’s back, twisted a few steel bars, and tied the scarecrow’s cross to the steel plate.

Then he lifted the steel plate, jumped through the opening, and leapt onto the floor.

One after another, lines appeared in his smart glasses, floor plans drawn by Eve.

This floor had a ‘critical corridor,’ all elevators and stairs led to it on the way to room 2991, one would enter this ‘critical corridor.’

······

“Boss, we’ve reached the 29th floor.”

A burly figure with red-brown curly hair, holding a walkie-talkie, walked out of the narrow fire exit stairwell, gripping a gun, looking forward.

“Be careful,” a raspy voice ca through the walkie-talkie, “don’t get isolated; we’ve already lost contact with many brothers.”

“Boss, this guy might be tough to deal with, are we really going to take him on?” the red-haired figure whispered, “He feels like a superhero from the movies; we aren’t a big player like the Black Wolf Gang. With only Radiant Building as our base, can we really handle him?”

“No choice, the client paid too much,” the raspy voice on the walkie-talkie said, “and the client’s mission is only to hold him back. There will be other ard forces coming soon; we aren’t the main attackers. We just need to make sure this guy doesn’t leave this building.”

“Okay.” The red-haired figure nodded.

As he spoke, his steps paused slightly, as if he had seen sothing.

“What’s wrong?” A sowhat puzzled voice ca from the walkie-talkie.

“It’s nothing, I saw the other brothers,” the red-haired figure raised his head and looked at a figure ahead, “but their state seems a bit unusual.”

In front of him, after turning the corner, several figures were standing there, maintaining a forward posture, but not moving.

He glanced up at the light overhead.

The lights on this floor seed to be further broken, growing dimr, leaving only a yellowish glow, illuminating the area like dusk about to fall at night.

“Be careful not to get ambushed by that guy.” The voice in the walkie-talkie spoke quickly.

“It’s fine,” the red-haired figure gestured to his n behind him to slow down, “there are so many of us.”

A group of figures slowly moved forward, approaching the front.

Finally, he turned the corner and walked to the side of those standing motionless, the yellowish light casting on his body.

As he reached out his hand, intending to pat the stationary person’s shoulder to ask why they were standing there, his hand froze in place, not moving.

As if the pause button had been pressed.

Behind him, the gang mbers following him also stood there, motionless.

In front of him, were densely standing figures.

They stood at the wide corridor entrance, as if ti had stopped at that mont, standing there.

At the very front of everyone, the passage was completely blocked by an iron plate.

A scarecrow hanging from a cross was fixed at the top of this steel plate, head drooping, facing the crowd.

“Hey!!! Can you hear ?”

A puzzled and loud inquiry ca from the walkie-talkie, echoing in the empty and silent space under the yellow light.

——

Bam——

He Ao lifted his hand, grabbed the edge of the wall, and fiercely leaped upward, his body passing through the air, clutching the edge of the higher wall.

Crack——

Accompanied by fragnts of cent splattering around him, he looked down.

This is the 46th floor, more than a hundred ters high in the air.

From here looking down, it’s hard to see the figures in the dim night, not even the faintly lit street lamps.

Dense convoys connected into a series of hazy glimrs, driving through the dark and dim streets.

Falling snowflakes scattered from the sky, the snowfall in this night was getting heavier.

He raised his head, looking upward.

This was already the highest floor of the building, beyond it was the rooftop.

He took a deep breath and exerted himself again, his whole body jumping up, his right hand grabbed the edge of the rooftop.

Bam——

The old cent block he was holding shattered instantly.

Snap——

The next mont, his other hand had grasped the rooftop railing, then forcefully, holding the railing, accompanied by the creak of the rail deforming, he flipped onto the rooftop.

The howling cold wind blew across his face, he looked up just in ti to see Gemu and Sianna standing not far under the plastic sheet awning of the rooftop elevator, walking quickly towards him.

He raised his hand and hung up the phone.

“Are you okay?”

Sianna moved faster, imdiately reaching out to support He Ao.

“It’s nothing,” He Ao shook his head, stood up directly, and smiled, “This little thing is not enough to defeat .”

“Are we waiting here until they finish their search, then go down?” Gemu also walked over, looking at He Ao, “Now I’m afraid we can’t go down, the gang probably sealed all the exits of this building.”

“I’m afraid we can’t wait here.” He Ao shook his head, turned back, and looked at the string of approaching lights below.

“What is that?” Gemu also saw those lights.

“The enemy’s reinforcents.” He Ao shook his head.

“What about that side?” Sianna suddenly raised her head and looked forward.

At this mont, a kind of vibrating wind howl had already sounded in the darkness.

And the source of the wind howl was the direction Sianna was looking.

In that vague darkness, there were flickering lights rapidly approaching.

“It’s a helicopter!” Gemu instantly realized.

“We must leave here imdiately.”

He Ao raised his gaze, looking at the surrounding high-rise buildings.

“Should we go down directly?” Gemu was sowhat puzzled.

“No,” He Ao shook his head, looked at Gemu, “Are you still okay?”

“No big deal, cough,” Gemu looked at He Ao and smiled, “Mu He that scumbag shot twice, but neither hit the heart, you taught to be lucky all the way here.”

“Old geezer always talking himself up again.”

He Ao chuckled and nodded.

He glanced around, walked to a rusty gap in the railing, reached out, and forcefully pulled the railing open, tearing it down.

Then he looked up at the high-rise in front.

Still too high here.

He turned back to look at the rooftop elevator next to him, at the plastic sheet hanging from the edge of the elevator roof.

The plastic sheet seed to cover the entire elevator top, with a thick layer of snow accumulated on it.

He quickly walked over, grabbed the plastic sheet, and yanked it.

Bam bam bam——

Accompanied by the sound of snaps as each fastener was forcibly pulled apart.

The scattered snow instantly fell, sprinkling onto the ground.

He looked at the plastic sheet he had torn down, pulled it lightly.

The plastic was of good quality, like so kind of high-strength synthetic plastic.

He Ao figured from its exposed parts that it should be so high-grade material leftover from the Radiant Group, used to cover the roof.

But after so long exposed to the sun and rain on the rooftop, its quality was far inferior to its original state, but it should still barely be usable.

He Ao pulled the plastic sheet and walked in front of Gemu and Sianna.

Before they could react, He Ao had already tied the corners of the sheet onto them.

“Will this work?” Gemu looked at the plastic sheet, roughly guessing his intention, and asked cautiously.

“I don’t know,” He Ao shook his head, “If it doesn’t work, I’ll buy you a nicer burial plot for your retirent.”

“Little punk, it should be buying it for you, I’ve always been lucky—” Gemu hadn’t finished speaking when He Ao directly reached out, wrapped his arm around his waist, and tucked him under his arm.

Then he looked at Sianna next to him.

“I’m fine.” Sianna took a deep breath, saying seriously.

He Ao nodded, tucking her under his other arm, then looked forward at the torn opening, as routes appeared on his glasses.

The howling cold wind roared a hundred ters high in the sky, resonating in the night with a shrill sound.

He suddenly rushed forward, leaping into the air.
