1192: Chapter 1192: Charging the Formation (Seeking Monthly Votes) 1192: Chapter 1192: Charging the Formation (Seeking Monthly Votes) The pervasive sound of cannon fire seed to have beco the ambient noise of this world, the roaring echoing in the ears of those atop the city walls, as well as those beneath them.
When the war had just begun, the rcenaries might have harbored so thoughts—wondering how to win this battle, or imagining what rewards awaited them upon victory, and how to spend those rewards.
But when flas raged fiercely around each of them, all those lush, beautiful, and horrific fantasies dissipated completely.
The rcenaries moved forward blindly, operating the weapons in their hands, following orders, and launching attacks step by step.
When the blood-soaked corpses of comrades fell beside them, they might briefly snap out of their daze, yet in the unending cacophony of cannon fire, they pressed on, bewildered.
They controlled chanical weapons, yet it seed as if they themselves were rely weapons under control.
Dazzling red beams struck the thick city gate, leaving a noticeable dent before fading away slowly.
That was the final shot fired by the colossal weapon that lood like a mountain.
The terrifying, thunderous cannon fire briefly fell silent.
Even the cannons that made up the all-encompassing ambient noise seed to grow quieter.
How long would this silence last?
Seconds?
Minutes?
The figures standing before the city gates had no ti to wonder.
The mont the booming giant cannon fell silent, it beca their turn to act.
They needed to charge to the gates and use cannon fire, giant hamrs, and anything capable of destruction to relentlessly assault the doors.
If the gates were breached, they would rush inside, kill the defenders within, and slaughter anyone who resisted.
Until no one resisted, until both the flas and the sounds of cannon fire were silenced simultaneously.
That might mark the end of this war.
An armored vehicle equipped with a massive hamr surged to the gates, slamming into the thick door.
The gate was sturdier than they had anticipated.
Even the terrifying volleys of the war machine’s cannons hadn’t been able to easily break it down.
But the gate had already sustained damage.
Its seams were riddled with scars burned by overwhelming force; the once-closed crevices had loosened slightly, faintly revealing glimpses of light within.
Bang—
The hamr on the armored vehicle closest to the gate roared to life, smashing against the city gate with a thunderous noise.
The massive gate trembled slightly, seeming to loosen further.
And so, the chanical hamr, driven backward by trendous machinery, began to ready itself once more.
From the sky ca waves of roaring cannon fire.
Each ti the massive “Demon Wolf” ceased its volleys, the shells and missiles from the city walls beca especially nurous.
The defenders atop the walls seed intent on exploiting these gaps to break through the Demon Wolf’s blockade and destroy the colossal war machine.
Simultaneously, more shells fell toward the troops attacking the gate, attempting to obliterate the army laying siege there.
Anti-aircraft cannons crackled and popped like firecrackers, dense flas detonating most of the incoming projectiles in the sky, perpetuating a fiery cloud that blanketed the heavens.
This cloud turned snow into vapor, shrouding the firmant and daylight alike, enveloping everything before the gate.
Yet the rcenaries stationed at the foot of the city gate beneath this fiery cloud had no ti to ponder its state.
Their eyes were locked intently on the control screens before them.
The hamr, now fully recharged, was once again ready.
Bang—
But just as the hamr was about to strike the city gate once more, a faint sound echoed from behind the gates.
Baffled, the rcenaries lifted their heads, gazing at the gates.
Crack—
A sound emanated from behind the thick city gate, and then the gate began to retreat, inching open to either side.
The rcenaries stared blankly at the unfolding scene, their thoughts sluggish and unable to catch up in such a short span of ti.
Bang—
Soone accidentally released the hamr; the hamrhead missed its mark, violently shaking the entire armored vehicle.
Was the city breached?
So gazed at the now-open gate, their thoughts finally starting to catch up.
But before they could celebrate, a massive black-and-white cha erged from behind the gap in the gate.
It floated in the air, stationed behind the once-impenetrable gates.
Unlike the fla-engulfed world outside the gates, the cha’s rear was frad by a clean, pristine sky and towering city walls that reached the heavens.
It lingered in the skies like a Seraphim guarding Heaven, its head bowed, gazing down at the mortals below who dared overestimate themselves.
A dense formation of chas and Dragon Cavalry Fighters rose into the air behind it, unfolding like a pair of wings.
The flas outside the gates shone through the crevice, illuminating the black-and-white cha’s fra, as though draping it in a cloak forged from fire.
The gate, slowly opening, ca to a halt, leaving just enough space for a cha to slip through sideways.
The soldiers stationed outside the gate watched in shock as the black-and-white Seraphim cha reached for the hilt of the giant sword it carried on its back.
Six jet-like propulsion units unfurled behind it like wings and erupted with torrents of fla under the frigid sky.
Hum—
The broad, black-and-white greatsword was abruptly drawn.
The resonating hum seed to tear through the ambient sounds of cannon fire, reverberating in everyone’s ears.
Not far from the gate, the giant Demon Wolf war machine raised its head, its three crimson cannons resembling burning red eyes, peering through the narrow gate at the figure within.
The black-and-white cha lifted its head in turn, locking eyes with the mountainous behemoth.
Then, stepping forward, it charged toward the gap in the gate that had ceased to widen.
The cha and fighters behind it surged forward like flowing clouds, trailing closely in its wake.
“Block them!
Destroy them!”
A cold roar crackled through countless communicators, resounding in the ears of every rcenary on the front lines.
Accompanying this roar was an even fiercer bombardnt.
The shells from the city walls rained down even more violently than before, crashing upon the dense anti-aircraft net like a storm.
Yet even with this, many anti-aircraft cannons were redirected to target the figures rushing out from behind the gates.
The defenders abandoned many areas, focusing their efforts on guarding the Demon Wolf, even surrendering anti-aircraft defenses near the gate.
Consequently, the bombardnts on the forces near the gate decreased, as though everyone had montarily forgotten about this place.
However, an increasingly dense wave of troops surged in from behind, charging toward the gates that had partially opened.
So of the armored vehicles near the gates seed to sense an “opportunity” and began pushing forward, trying to squeeze through the gap.
anwhile, they raised their turrets, launching shells toward the chas and fighters pouring out from behind the gates, attempting to obliterate the advancing forces.
But what greeted them was nothing but a torrent of cannon fire and blades slicing through the sky.
The massive black-and-white greatsword descended like thunder, slicing the leading armored vehicles as though cutting through tofu.
The overwhelming force of the sword shredded the earth beneath it, tearing apart all obstacles in its path, including armored vehicles, land forts, and massive hamrs.
Behind the black-and-white cha, waves of chas and fighters gushed forth like streams, splitting into two wings that swept to either side as though unfurling radiant feathers, clearing all obstacles at the gates in an instant.
Bang—
The deafening roar continued as the towering gates began to close once more.
It was only then that the soldiers outside the gates realized why the anti-aircraft nets and wall-mounted artillery had seemingly abandoned their sector.
Because their true enemy was these chas bursting forth from behind the gates.
And reality proved their fears justified—a force beyond their comprehension had erged.
Against such a unit, they were utterly defenseless.
Their “Commander” likely foresaw this outco long ago.
The Commander had issued an “attack” order, but at the mont the battle truly began, he’d completely abandoned them.
They were nothing more than a feeble, disposable “wall” ant to delay this elite force.
So soldiers who had realized this began retreating their armored vehicles, only to have their path sealed off by the advancing “brother units.”
Before the tall, gradually closing gates, the black-and-white cha, its sleek exterior shimring with sharp lines, slowly withdrew its giant sword embedded in the ground.
It raised its head and looked ahead.
Although the vanguard forces at the gates were quickly annihilated, they managed to briefly stall the advancing cha and fighter units pouring out from behind the walls.
Before the black-and-white cha, swarms of fighters and chas surged in from all directions.
Their main cannons glead brightly, radiant beams flickering at the muzzles.
Gripping its massive sword, the black-and-white cha faced the oncoming swarm, a horde that enveloped it like a cloud of bees.
Though the West Iron and Steel rcenary Corps had sent half their forces east, they retained their so-called “elite” units here.
Perhaps confident in their abilities, the Corps Commander seed intent on breaching the North Gate with just half their force.
The fiery clouds gathered over the sky, their scattered brilliance illuminating every war machine below.
In truth, they were drawing close to success.
The city walls’ arsenal was nearly depleted, while the rcenary corps’ ammunition and machinery were still abundant, their firepower showing no sign of waning—on the contrary, it only grew stronger.
Should this continue, breaching the gates at North City would only be a matter of ti.
This was the plight of Minte City.
No matter how intricate the sches, no matter how layered the strategies,
there was still no hope against such an overwhelming disparity in strength.
This was rely a small city of one or two million, with slightly sturdier walls, slightly stronger resolve, and slightly more ticulous layouts.
But relying solely on its scant City Defense Army, with only limited ammunition in its reserves,
even with maximum calculations and efforts, it could barely fend off one elite rcenary corps’ main force.
This ti, however, it faced two full elite rcenary corps.
And these two rcenary corps were nothing more than the “two fingers” of the truly mammoth force lurking behind them.
It felt as if the firmant itself was collapsing like a curtain, carrying the weight of mountains and crushing down upon the people below, leaving them gasping for air.
Yet this “mountain” would not kill them outright.
Beams of brilliance flared around He Ao, the dense ranks of snow-white Seraphim chas piercing into the encircling Hell Apostle chas of the rcenary corps like radiant shafts cutting through gloom.
One Dragon Cavalry Fighter after another soared upward, engaging directly with the enemy forces in the sky.
Snow-white greatswords deflected cannon fire, dazzling beams streaked across the heavens, scattering like lightning woven densely across the firmant.
Ultimately, the Seraphim chas shattered the fiery fog and the swarm of enemy chas and fighters in the sky.
Beneath the vast firmant, they carved out a pathway leading straight to the sky.
And at the end of that pathway stood the massive war machine encircled by drones: the monstrous Demon Wolf.
The machine’s blood-red cannon barrels at the path’s end shimred, as though gazing down upon the insignificant figures below.
Once again, the six enormous propulsion units behind the black-and-white cha unfurled like wings bathed in light.
It hefted its greatsword and, engulfed in flas, charged toward the end of the pathway.
Beams of brilliance shot out from the edges of the path—rays fired by the rcenary corps’ chas trying to cut off the black-and-white figure’s ascent.
As if receiving a command, they ceased their barrage against the Seraphim chas and turned their firepower onto the black-and-white cha.
Insanity overtook them as they unleashed a deluge of lasers and shells, heedless of whether their attacks would strike their own allies.
Glowing shots surged like grids of light, carving the pathway into segnts.
So Hell Apostle chas, unable to dodge in ti, were struck by their “allies'” plasma or laser cannons, erupting in fiery explosions.
But the black-and-white cha appeared oblivious to the whirling lights and fire surrounding it.
Without slowing, it continued hurtling along the pathway, weaving through fire and beams of light.
The brilliant rays shifted and flickered, always just narrowly missing, as though fated never to touch their target.
The cha’s movents repeatedly defied expectations, throwing off even the enemies’ predictive algorithms.
In the end, not a single beam slowed the black-and-white cha.
It navigated seamlessly through glowing gaps between the barrages.
Explosion after explosion rocked the pathway’s edges.
These were the Hell Apostle chas succumbing to friendly fire.
anwhile, more and more rcenary fighters and chas flooded toward the pathway, compressing its space.
Even the white Seraphim chas seed to struggle to hold their ground.
At that mont, a command seemingly surged through all the Seraphim chas.
They hesitated briefly, then began pulling back from the wild Hell Apostle chas.
In an instant, the pathway took on a “collapsing” trajectory.
Countless dark shadows surged from all sides to seal it closed entirely.
Even so, the black-and-white cha maintained its maximum speed, racing toward the “exit” of the pathway.
Brilliant light trailed behind it, great flas streaming from its shoulders.
And just as the pathway’s edges were about to close completely, the black-and-white cha burst through, lifting its gaze toward the massive war machine beyond.
From within the Demon Wolf, the colossal machine stared down the approaching cha.
Scarlet glows gathered within its central main cannon.
Its radiance, dimd sowhat due to “cooldown,” still exuded overwhelming power.
Firing during cooldown wasn’t impossible, after all.
Inside the cha cockpit, He Ao eyed the cannon’s pulsing glow.
He shifted the cha’s controls and charged directly toward the war machine encircled by swirling drones.
The pitch-dark drones surrounding the Demon Wolf sward toward him, blocking his advance.
Bang—
Behind him, the now-closing city gate finally shut completely.
