Boosky just stood there, shell-shocked, with his mouth wide open.

His heart rate was still at its peak as he stared at the battle in front of him.

Or could he even call it a battle? It was just one against everyone.

In front of him was this small black wolf, covered head to toe in blood.

There were hundreds of bite marks all over its body, thick, dark red blood seeping out from every wound. It was hard to say how this beast was even standing.

Even in such a condition, he did not dare think lowly of this beast.

No, not after seeing that carnage.

Not when, even in this state, the beast was running toward the thousands of other dogs charging in from the north.

On the left, there was this massive red fox that jumped in to attack from ti to ti.

Similar to the West, there was another massive grey fox, far more aggressive in its assault.

Ten powerful players even stood on this emptier side, jumping into the fray from ti to ti to attack a single monster.

Boosky grabbed his head, his heart almost in his mouth, as even under such an assault, that lone wolf—no, that nightmare—was sohow still holding on.

Its health was already in the red zone, barely the last 10 percent remaining. But still, whenever he felt the wolf’s gaze in his direction, he couldn’t help but shiver.

Many around him scread and rushed to kill other dogs, but after witnessing all that, he was in no mood to join them.

He just crouched on a tree branch and stared at the nightmare unfolding in front of him.

He had always heard that Apex Ascension was very real, but before today, he had never believed it.

Just a few days ago, he and three of his friends had all bought the headset, just a day after his fourteenth birthday.

That was the legal age limit to get the headset. All his friends already had them—he was the last one in the group, and they wanted to play tougher gas together.

He was never into any ga, but they forced him. Just a few hours ago, all of them had randomly picked this village as the start of their adventure.

He still rembered his shock when he opened his eyes inside the ga.

If not for being able to see his player status, he would have thought this was another world.

It was just so detailed.

They moved around the small village. He even tried that hard bread given to them.

He thought it might be bland, but no—it actually had a strong taste to it, albeit the bread was extrely hard and tasted like hardwood.

That was just the start of his fascination, as even the water tasted exactly like the one he used to drink.

There was no way to tell the difference.

The others were in similar awe.

Even though they knew more about the ga from the internet, this was also their first ti.

As they road around the village, they heard a lot of interesting stories—especially one recent tale about a big war that killed a lot of players.

Once they got familiar, Morki, his friend who was most into the ga, suggested hunting.

The others were hesitant, but Morki convinced them. All of them rushed into the forest. It was very empty that day, so they easily spotted a rabbit.

It took the four of them ten minutes to catch that rabbit and finally kill it.

The blood flowing out of the rabbit, the way it struggled.

All four of them almost puked and even cried after killing the beast.

They thought it was just a ga, but only when they killed the rabbit did it feel like they had truly taken a life.

But all their guilt lasted less than a minute, when the rabbit’s body suddenly disappeared, and two of them gained one copper coin each.

All of it was surreal, but it helped pull them out of that guilt, and they started to follow the examples of senior players.

Within a few hours, all four of them got used to killing rabbits and even leveled up a couple of tis.

They also ford team Bazuka, with Morki as its leader.

At that ti, Morki suggested they go deeper into the forest.

Even though Morki took the lead, all four of them shared the sa thought:

He never imagined this ga would be so good.

It was so fun and easy—he wanted to see everything this world had to offer.

So their team, Bazuka, rushed deeper into the forest to make a na for themselves. That was their biggest mistake.

That was where the nightmare began.

He rembered he was luring a goblin toward the others when suddenly, thunderclouds covered the sky.

Before they could understand what was going on, the next mont, the clouds disappeared—and everything beca dark, with a full moon above their heads.

All four of them stared at the sky in confusion. They looked at each other, thinking this was how day and night changed in the ga.

That was their second mistake.

Would a ga that lets you taste the food fumble sothing so basic, sothing even old-school gas got right?

Not suspecting anything, all of them decided to kill one last monster.

They were about to kill another goblin when everything suddenly beca bright again.

Before they could even react, the half-dead goblin started to scream and ran away from them.

That’s when he saw the genuine horror of the ga.

Hundreds of monsters were running toward them.

Panicked, the four of them ran as fast as possible, but then all the dogs changed their direction and rushed toward another side.

They were stunned when all four of them saw a dark wolf running past them.

It was around the sa size as the other big wolf he had seen, but one look and he sensed there was sothing different about that monster.

Its thick dark furs were so srizing, like they were trapping all the light around the beast that give beast a standout feeling.

Everything around that wolf was short of blurred for him. That was when he heard a loud shout.

"It’s a big event! Let’s go!" Morki shouted and started running after the wolf.

The other three looked at each other, confused about what event Morki was talking about. Still, as a team, they followed Morki.

They followed Morki toward their upcoming nightmare. The nightmare in the form of a wolf.

It showed them the true reality of the Apex ascension.
