Chapter 1098: Chapter 1097: Confession

“No need, I’ve already eaten tonight.” Gu Shaoting shook his head and declined.

Shu Pan’s heart grew even more doubtful, as he usually loved the noodles she cooked the most.

Gu Shaoting reached out to take the black tea from her hand, lifted it and gently took a small sip. As he expected, the tea was a bit weak, but he still drank a large gulp out of courtesy before setting down the cup and returning his attention to the docunts on the table.

Shu Pan noticed many docunts on his desk, all of them contracts, and the densely packed words sowhat overwheld her.

“Is there sothing problematic with your work?” Shu Pan couldn’t tell if there was an issue with his work, but she felt that there was sothing oddly off about him tonight.

Hearing this, Gu Shaoting looked up at her, raising an eyebrow as if to ask why she thought so.

...

It seed like Shu Pan understood the question in his eyes. Looking at him, she pointed at her own face and half-jokingly said, “It’s written all over your face, telling everyone you’re unhappy.”

Gu Shaoting finally let out a soft chuckle, reached out his hand, and said, “Co here.”

Although Shu Pan didn’t know what he intended to do, she obediently walked around the desk towards him, and Gu Shaoting reached out to pull her close.

Gu Shaoting held her hand, forcefully pulled her so that she ended up sitting backwards on his lap, with his arms around her stomach and his chin on her shoulder, and softly began, “Do you want to know?”

Shu Pan nodded her head. Although they had been sowhat distant for a while, they were still husband and wife—the sort who could fight at the head of the bed but make up at the foot. She turned to face him and said, “Maybe I don’t know much, but I still want to help share your burden.”

Gu Shaoting gazed at her, looked straight into her eyes, then leaned in and lightly pecked her lips. He looked at her seriously and said, “Shu Pan, can you tell the truth?”

“Hmm?” Shu Pan looked at him puzzled, a bit unclear about what he ant. Was he suggesting that she had lied to him?

Gu Shaoting chuckled softly and shared, “This afternoon, I took care of so things, saw it was going to rain, and then realized you were about to finish work, worried you’d get stuck at the office, so I turned the car around and headed to your office.”

Shu Pan was startled, staring at him, quite embarrassed because of the lie she had just told. Indeed, she could have told him the truth, but she thought it was insignificant and hence didn’t bother to explain.

Unexpectedly, he had witnessed it and even misunderstood, “You saw?”

Gu Shaoting looked at her, neither nodding nor shaking his head, but simply stated, “I just want to hear it from you.”

“I wasn’t at the supermarket. When you called , I just happened to be sitting in my boss’s car as he was giving a ride ho. Then, his daughter developed a high fever, so I suggested going to the hospital first—after all, a child’s illness is a big concern. He only offered a ride because it started to pour heavily. I didn’t want to tell you because I was scared you’d jump to conclusions,” Shu Pan confessed, looking at him.

However, when she t his gaze, she was still sowhat cautious. “Maybe I should drive myself to work from now on.”

Seeing that he didn’t respond, Shu Pan added with a touch of guilt, as if a very normal situation had been twisted into sothing like an affair.

It really was inexplicably puzzling.

She was straightforward in her heart, so she feared nothing.
