Ji Nuan nearly laughed himself to breathlessness at ng Tai’s words, really wishing ng Tai had said that when the female was present, it would definitely shock any beast.
(Haha, that’s right, it’ll stir up enmity perfectly!)
The Shaman sat quietly, gnawing his at with a furrowed brow, seeming troubled by sothing.
Ji Nuan asked in confusion, "ng Luo, what’s got you all quiet?"
The preoccupied Shaman ng Luo managed to snap back to reality, putting the grilled at he was eating on a nearby big leaf with a deep sigh, "Injured Orcs from our little tribe keep coming in, but the herbs I’ve gathered aren’t enough. Even my Guardian Orcs got hurt when the calamity struck and they were out gathering herbs. Ah..."
Ji Nuan nodded, indeed, even a clever woman can’t do much without rice. Without herbs, even powerful shamans can’t treat the injuries of the orc clansn.
Rembering that ng Tai had ntioned the Lamu Forest having many strange herbs and plants, Ji Nuan perked up, sitting up straight and asking ng Luo: "How long will these remaining herbs last?"
ng Luo thought for a while and said, "They’ll only last for three days. If more injured Orcs arrive in the next few days, it might not even last that long."
Ji Nuan frowned upon hearing this. The weather was hot, so many Orcs’ wounds needed herbs for clotting and inflammation. If they ran out of herbs now, he feared many orcs would fall victim to infections.
He firmly said, "So I should go, as a Shaman, I supposed I’m more useful than your Guardian Orcs."
Feverishly shaking his head, the Shaman replied: "No way, out of the question. The forest is extrely dangerous right now. Many wild beasts have beco very violent and will attack any orc they co across. The forest also harbors many deadly creatures with red eyes, large and ferocious--it’s best that you don’t go."
He sighed and continued, "We’ll use less herbs for a few days and hold out for a while longer. I’ll go out to collect herbs when it’s safer in the forest."
But Ji Nuan shook his head, "Tomorrow, I’ll take the tribe mbers out to collect herbs. anwhile, we can take a look at the plants in Lamu Forest and see how they differ from ours in Eneru. We’ll be back on the third day."
Seeing their clear rejections, Ji Nuan replied with a smile: "I ca here for two reasons. First, to return ng Tai, and second, to look for herbs and plants not found in Eneru. Now that the injured Orcs in the tribe have been treated, it’s natural that I go out exploring. How else could I find new plants and herbs if I always stay in the tribe?"
In the end, no one could dissuade Ji Nuan. Early the next morning, accompanied by Xiu Yan, Ya Li, and the sleepily cooing baby, he set out on his journey of discovery.
ng Tai and several Orcs who had been refused from accompanying them were dispirited. Overcast gloom hung over their heads, their inner protests nearly spilling out.
Sitting on the back of the imposing Silver Wolf, watching him swipe at branch after branch with his paws, Ji Nuan wiped the sweat off his forehead and complained, "God, why is it so hot in the Lamu Forest? My Beast Skin is about to be soaked through with sweat."
On the other side, Ya Li also managed to secure a "seat pass", and very rarely coiled up on Xiu Yan’s back like a mosquito coil. In the middle of that coil and unaware of the ti, the baby kitten ow ow was sprawled out and asleep.
