"Sean, we don't know his undercover identity."

Upon hearing Augustus' inquiry, the head of a division in the Organized Cri Investigation Departnt, Dillon, imdiately had his subordinates check the Hyena Gang's personnel information and then replied:

"Our records show Sean as one of the important confidants of the Hyena Gang's leader. The DEA never inford us that he was an undercover agent."

Dillon didn't care about this, as his division also had undercover agents within the Hyena Gang, and they hadn't disclosed their identities to the DEA either.

According to the rules, only the departnt specifically in charge of an undercover agent would be aware of their existence.

Before conducting specific operations, they would inform the joint operation departnts of the undercover agents' identities to prevent accidental killings.

Hearing Augustus reveal Sean's undercover identity, Dillon was a bit puzzled and asked with a smile:

"How did you find out about Sean's identity? Did you hack into the DEA's internal network?"

Augustus glared at Luo An, who was sitting obediently on a chair, with an innocent face.

"Of course not!"

Augustus firmly denied it, then his voice turned serious as he asked:

"Sean is involved in a serious criminal case we are investigating; he is likely the perpetrator of the case."

Dillon on the other end of the phone understood Augustus' intention; this was a heads-up before action to ask whether any move against Sean would disrupt their operations.

"In that case, Augustus, don't search Sean's residence today, to avoid alarming the Hyena Gang."

Seeing Agent Norton knock on the door and walk into the office hand him a docunt, Dillon's pupils narrowed, and he imdiately said to Augustus in a serious tone:

"The Organized Cri Investigation Departnt and the DEA will have a major operation against the Hyena Gang tomorrow. Your investigative team can wait on the periphery tomorrow, and after the operation is complete, Sean can be turned over to you for interrogation."

Whether or not the DEA would agree with this was selectively ignored by Dillon and Augustus.

"OK."

Augustus nodded, smilingly agreed, even made plans to go drinking with Dillon after work.

After hanging up the phone, Augustus told Luo An about the joint operation with the other departnts scheduled for the next day. Luo An frowned slightly, remained silent for a few seconds, then nodded and left the head's office.

After conveying the news to the other agents in Unit Five, many relaxed.

The serial homicide case was now more than halfway resolved; all that remained was to prepare the key evidence and wait to take over Sean the next day.

After returning to his desk, Luo An's expression was a bit stern.

Because currently, they had no direct evidence in hand, Luo An's reason for reporting to Augustus was primarily to inform those who were surveilling the Hyena Gang that he was ready to search Sean's house for crucial evidence of Sean being at the lake's edge the previous night.

But now, the situation had evolved into arresting Sean first tomorrow, then searching his house afterward.

Mona, sitting next to him, had also thought of this. She frowned and quietly asked Luo An:

"The longer it drags on, the more likely it is that Sean will dispose of those shoes, and the lower our chances of successfully convicting Sean, this..."

"Don't panic."

Luo An's voice was steady as he reassured:

"The autopsy report hasn't co out yet, and we may find Sean's DNA there. Moreover, after the DEA and Organized Cri deal with the Hyena Gang tomorrow, we're likely to find the gray sedan Sean drove that night."

"OK."

Seeing that Luo An seed confident, Mona cald down as well.

Then...

Lyle brought back so bad news.

"Sorry, Luo An."

Lyle pushed open the door of Unit Five, walked up to Luo An's desk with a gloomy face, and said gravely:

"The forensic doctor's autopsy report isn't out yet, but I asked, and they haven't found any white genetic material inside the victim—only so dithicone.

Besides mud, no substances related to any assassin were found under the victim's nails."

Dithicone is a major component of the lubricant on the outside of so condoms.

"Fingerprints?"

Mona, next to him with a slightly furrowed brow, looked at Lyle.

"No luck either."

Leyde shook his head; the Trace Examination Team had thoroughly checked the victim's clothing. Aside from so substances in the trunk of the car, they found no fingerprints or hair of the assassin.

It's possible that skin flakes and such might have been washed away by the water in the pit where the body was found.

"Damn it!"

Upon hearing Leyde's words, Mona cursed under her breath, and then turned to look at Luo An.

Luo An stroked his chin, deep in thought for a mont, then suddenly rembered sothing and looked up to ask:

"Where's the transparent plastic bag I handed to the Trace Examination Team?"

"What's that?"

Leyde looked confused; he wasn't at the cri scene and didn't know what Luo An was referring to.

Seeing the expression on Leyde's face, Luo An realized this as well, and quickly asked Leyde to go back to the Trace Examination Team to have them check the transparent plastic bag.

Leyde nodded and turned to leave once again. Mona looked anxious, but Luo An's expression was calm as he waved his hand:

"Don't panic, there's always a way out of a difficult situation."

"What are you talking about?"

Mona looked at him blankly, not understanding Luo An's awkwardly translated English as a native of Arica.

"It's not important."

Without further explanation, Luo An stood up, clapped his hands to attract the attention of the agents, and after briefly explaining what Leyde had just said, he stated gravely:

"Ladies and gentlen, the situation is as follows: we must find more evidence to prove that Sean was at the cri scene last night!

Now let's get moving, find out everything Sean has done over the past month, and gather more useful clues to ultimately present key evidence to nail Sean!"

"OK!"

"No problem!"

William and the other five technicians responded loudly, and the clatter of keyboards began to fill the office area of Team Five.

Mona also sat at her desk, her fingers flying as she began to re-examine last night's surveillance footage.

"There's sothing odd, Luo An."

A few minutes later, William called Luo An over, pointing at the data on his computer screen:

"According to Sean's credit card records, he bought ten old Rapid brand 2003 cell phones in a mobile phone shop a week ago."

"Hm?"

Luo An was stunned upon hearing this and looked down at the image of the Rapid brand 2003 model phone that William had pulled up, his pupils dilated as he cursed out loud:

"Fu-k! Sean is going to make remote-control bombs!"

"What did you say?"

"Bombs? What bombs?"

Hearing the word 'bombs', everyone in Team Five stopped what they were doing and instantly looked up; the building collapse had happened just four years ago, and they hadn't forgotten about that incident.

Seeing the image on the computer, Mona suddenly rembered sothing, covering her mouth as she exclaid:

"Last year, there was an explosion at a Jewish Temple in a New York suburb, and the assassin used was a Rapid brand 2003 model cell phone!"

"That's right."

Luo An nodded; in his previous life, the old assassin had seen this news and then taught himself how to make remote-control bombs.

"This model's battery does not have a good temperature sensor, nor does it have a fault safety feature."

Seeing everyone looking at him, Luo An signaled William to enlarge the cell phone image on the computer screen, and then pointed at it as he explained to the team:

"By making so simple modifications, if soone calls this phone and the call lasts more than thirteen seconds, it will imdiately detonate the phone.

Of course, the explosion from one single phone is not that powerful, but if you connect so grenades or other types of explosive materials around the phone, and then make a call at the critical mont..."

"Damn it!"

"Jesus!"

After listening to Luo An's explanation, upon seeing that Sean had bought no less than ten phones, the complexions of everyone in Team Five changed drastically.
