Luo An and Mona's rented apartnt.

"Tonight I feel like eating Eastern cuisine, Luo An, you cook, I'll wash the dishes."

Mona was in a good mood today, as soon as the apartnt door was opened, she humd a tune and marched inside, conveniently planning the dinner for the evening.

Snap!

The next second, Mona suddenly felt her arm tightly grabbed by Luo An, recalling so of their past wild behaviors, she hastily twisted her body trying to break free:

"NO! Luo An! I'm hungry…

At least close the door first!"

"…"

Reaching out to close the door, Mona's words left Luo An sowhat speechless, why did he seem unlike a good person?

However, Luo An's intention for grabbing Mona wasn't that, he firmly slapped her buttocks to quiet her down, then he whispered in Mona's ear:

"Sothing's off about the room, soone has been in here."

"What?!"

Hearing this, Mona imdiately stopped wriggling in Luo An's arms, her expression turned serious instantly, and she whispered:

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

Luo An didn't elaborate much, he just pointed his finger towards the two windows in the living room, and a tiny thread on top of the apartnt door.

That previous ti Mona bought a small apartnt which was secretly entered by ard robbers; although Luo An caught the criminals, it still left so psychological scars on Mona.

Since then, every ti Mona left ho, she would place small items like toothpicks and threads on windows and door gaps ahead of ti, as learned from her training at the FBI Academy, to guard against soone sneaking into the room.

In Luo An's opinion, Mona's counter-surveillance skills were quite average—if it were him, he had several thods to sneak into Mona's room, and afterwards, he could put those little things back in place without letting Mona notice anything unusual.

Since the two started living together, during a break amidst so physical activity, they discussed this matter.

Thus, Luo An, bare-chested, gave Mona so instructions and checked how much she had learned.

The process took so ti, but the results... weren't great, Mona still hadn't learned much.

For Mona's sense of security, Luo An took it upon himself to design the room's warning devices, a habit that started from New York and continued once they moved to Los Angeles.

Thus, following Luo An's direction, Mona saw that the dummy toothpick warning device at the left window of the living room was still in place, but the real thread warning device had disappeared.

"Shit!"

Mona cursed softly, then looked at Luo An with a solemn face:

"What do we do next?"

"Check the room carefully to see if anything is missing."

A cold gleam in his eyes, Luo An patted Mona's shoulder, and the two imdiately split up and started checking their own rooms.

Luo An's bedroom didn't have much stuff and with his attention to detail, he quickly finished checking his own room and found nothing missing.

Mona's bedroom had quite a few things; soon after moving to Los Angeles, she filled up two wardrobes, after checking his own room, Luo An entered her bedroom to check together.

After about ten minutes, the two had finished checking; nothing was missing in Mona's bedroom either.

Mona frowned and speculated:

"So, could it be that the guy ca looking for sothing here but didn't find it and left?"

Neither she nor Luo An were the kind to keep diaries.

"Don't forget, we still have other rooms."

Luo An shook his head, left Mona's bedroom, and went into the study next door.

Seeing this, Mona didn't say much else and turned to go into the kitchen on the other side.

Soon, Mona had finished going through the kitchen that didn't have many items. Just as she was about to continue searching the living room, Luo An's voice suddenly ca from the bathroom:

"Mona, co here for a sec."

"How could it be the bathroom?"

Mona frowned upon seeing the situation:

"What is there to steal in a bathroom?"

"NO, you're wrong, Mona, that guy was delivering us a gift."

Luo An walked out of the bathroom with a sneer, holding a purple notebook as big as a workbook but very thin.

He handed it to Mona and added:

"Found it in the thin compartnt on top of the bathroom."

Seeing the purple notebook handed by Luo An, Mona's complexion looked bad, but when she opened it and saw the contents inside, her face showed shock:

"Overseas account?"

"Correct."

Luo An sat down on the sofa in the living room with a thud, he indeed had so offshore accounts with 300 million dollars he had previously obtained.

But the account numbers and passwords were firmly morized by Luo An, who lacked a sense of security, felt that things written on paper could never keep secrets, so he never wrote those accounts down.

The overseas bank accounts in the purple notebook were sothing Luo An was seeing for the first ti, not knowing where they ca from.

"Most likely stolen goods."

Seeing Mona's face full of seriousness and her brows tightly knit, Luo An grabbed her arm and pulled her into his embrace, laughing:

"Just don't know who wants to fra ."

"It must be Group Leader Owen's case."

Mona wasn't foolish. After she and Luo An arrived in Los Angeles, they hadn't offended anyone. The only possibility was the case of Group Leader Owen's murder they had taken over these past two days.

Owen was a group leader of the FBI's Criminal Investigation Departnt, already considered middle managent in the FBI.

For such a person to be murdered, either the killer really doesn't care about Owen's group leader status, or the hidden mastermind really doesn't care about Owen's group leader status.

This afternoon's incident at Pearson's house, where Luo An and Reesi encountered a freak lightning, Reesi had also told Mona, it was clear the mastermind intended to take lives.

Thinking of this, Mona broke free from Luo An's embrace, stood up straight, and said with a serious face:

"Luo An, should we hand over this case, pass it to another investigation group?"

"What?"

Luo An, looking surprised, was just about to ask when Mona covered his mouth, her tone serious yet calm as she said:

"Luo An, this case clearly involves deep waters, we don't need to risk our lives over it."

Mona is a woman first, and then FBI; she didn't want to see the man she loves being frad and thrown into prison.

Mona, whose father worked in the CIA, was very aware of the dirt within the deep recesses of Federation Governnt agencies, but Mona didn't care previously, as it never affected her.

But now that the man she loved was targeted by this filth, Mona instantly couldn't hold back; her instinctive thought was to throw the trouble away, as long as the man she loved was safe.

Seeing the worry on Mona's face, Luo An didn't say much, just reached out a hand, pulled her close and kissed her.

As seconds and minutes passed, the two released each other, Mona looked up, eyes fixed on Luo An:

"You promised ?"

"Sorry."

Luo An shook his head, he did not agree with Mona.

Mona's face suddenly showed anger, and just as she was about to speak, Luo An, like Mona had done before, covered her mouth.

"Mona, the other party has already hidden things in our house, do you think they will let us go even if we step back?"

Luo An knew well that concessions and retreats don't solve any problems.

Only by knocking the opponent down, scaring them, subduing them, killing them, can the fundantal problem be solved.

"Trust , Mona, we can handle this case."

Holding the purple notebook in his hand, a hint of chill flashed in Luo An's eyes.

He was now even more interested in what exactly Group Leader Owen was investigating before his death, and what was behind this case.
