Kael didn’t think twice and jumped to his side, even though he felt that the only safe zone was the tree. It simply gave him strange vibes, so Kael didn’t trust his instincts.
He landed a short distance away and looked around but found nothing. The area was the sa as before, and nothing was there that could have triggered his instincts.
’What the hell is happening?’ Kael thought, glancing back at his teammates who were standing side by side, ready for any potential attacks.
’At least they’ve got brains, so I don’t need to help them,’ Kael thought, as he once again looked around and then stared at the tree.
It stood out from the other trees because of its color, but there was nothing else in particular about it.
’No, there is sothing strange about it. I felt danger, and the first thing I wanted to do was to get close to it, as if it would save .’
That was indeed strange, and it made him rember so of the Corrupted Creatures he had faced back on Earth. It gave him a rough idea of what was happening.
’I am under an illusion—and that sa illusion is also probably influencing my thoughts.’
Kael wasn’t delusional enough to think that he wouldn’t fall for any illusion just because he was a dragon. Sure, he had high resistance to illusions and anything related to mind manipulation, but resistance wasn’t the sa as immunity.
He had confird that he could still be put under illusion if it ca from very high-level sources when he had touched the Hand of Nyraxx.
Now that he was in a construct made by a direct subordinate of a God, there was no way his illusion resistance would work. But it wasn’t completely useless, as it had made him realize the oddity of the world.
’Kiona also realized sothing was off with the sun. Is it because of her bloodline or her affinity? Probably affinity. But now isn’t the ti to think about this. What do I do to get out of this illusion?’
The surroundings had beco calm again, as if everything he felt was just him hallucinating. The forest was so calm and serene that it chilled the four of them.
Just then, Kael rembered how Draven had broken the illusion he was in after touching the Hand of Nyraxx.
’The lightning!!’ his eyes lit up as he thought. ’But it was probably a ntal attack, so how do I produce lightning in my mind?’
[You can try giving a shock to your soul, which is actually what the individual Draven did, and it’ll shake you up from the illusions. The rest your Dragon physique will handle.]
’That’s a good idea, but how do I do that?’
[This... I have no clue on this.]
Kael clicked his tongue and thought of approaching the tree.
’Wait! Why would I approach the tree? Fuck this tree, it’s influencing my mind again.’
Kael wanted to punch himself so he’d rember not to listen to these thoughts.
’Wait! How are we all under the sa illusion if illusion is directly affecting my mind? Are you sure it’s affecting my mind?’
[I am one hundred percent sure about this. As for how you are under the sa illusion...]
’Let check,’ Kael turned toward Kiona and asked, "How did you sleep when I was unconscious back in the valley?"
Kiona almost jumped in fright at the sudden question and also got confused as to why Kael was asking such things in this situation.
Then, she rembered how she had slept beside him while sucking his thumb, and redness crept into her cheeks as her tail flicked behind her along with her ears standing upright.
Seeing the scene, Kael smiled, ’Yup, they aren’t illusions and are actually in the illusion with .’
As Kiona was struggling to form her words, Kael said, "Alright. I got my answer, so you don’t need to say anything."
Then, he once again looked at the tree and almost threw a lightning bolt at it. Its temptations were growing stronger.
’It ans that our souls are connected through the illusion, or maybe all our minds were pulled into sothing. If that’s the case...’
His eyes lit up as his head snapped toward Kiona and he shouted excitedly, "Hey, punch as hard as you can!"
Kiona got confused and couldn’t respond imdiately. Even the twins were confused, but of course, they were beasts who had been through many battles under good leadership, so they knew when to question and when to simply follow orders.
That’s why Kiona arrived near Kael swiftly, leaving crimson trails behind, and then punched at Kael’s chest with her full strength.
She knew his strength and capabilities better than anyone, so she wasn’t worried about him getting injured. She was just slightly surprised to see him offering no resistance.
With a sonic boom, the punch shattered Kael’s chest as a gaping hole appeared there, filled with pitch-black darkness.
Kael smiled seeing that and said, "Ti to leave."
In the next second, Kael disappeared right before her eyes, leaving behind a tall, humanoid darkness behind.
The lioness stepped backwards as she looked at the darkness in vigilance. As much as she was confused about the situation, she cald down her heart thinking of Kael’s final words.
The twins saw the situation and looked at each other as Jon flashed a grin and said, "Want a punch?"
anwhile, Kael was feeling as if his whole being was shifting in eternal darkness. He suppressed the temptations that were getting stronger with every passing second.
And then it stopped.
His eyes snapped open as he found himself standing in a dark world with barely any illumination. His Draconic eyes adjusted to the environnt and let him see what they were dealing with.
"Holy shit!!"
Kael exclaid, staring at the steep cliff that seed to go down infinitely, as if it had pierced through the underworld. He couldn’t even see the end of it.
His thoughts churned into a ss, making him quickly look up—and that’s when he saw a massive crimson tree standing tall, all alone in this barren dark world.
