After finishing his training, Lu Xuanyu began jogging by the seaside.
To provide accommodation for those involved in the Number One Martial Arts Tournant, Superman Enterprise booked three nearby hotels, including one beach that was turned into a closed-off area. Only participants and staff can move freely in this space.
The competition ended in the morning, and after completing today’s match, Lu Xuanyu further trained in Jujitsu, which took quite a bit of ti. Now, the sun was setting, leaving only a thread of crimson light on the western horizon.
Lu Xuanyu was wearing a warm hoodie with a hood.
The Bermuda Islands are located at 32 degrees north latitude, not a low latitude. Now it’s sumr, and the climate is cooler around nightfall—of course, this is for Homo sapiens.
To Lu Xuanyu, the sharp sea breeze feels like biting cold wind. When it blows across his face, it even brings a slight stinging sensation.
But Lu Xuanyu actually likes this feeling.
He has an independent heat source inside, keeping him warm. This cold won’t freeze him. Also, there are no pathogens on Earth that can make him sick.
This feeling only makes him feel invigorated.
Jogging is a kind of "enjoynt" for Lu Xuanyu.
His current legs are Prosthetic Limbs; naturally, no exercise is needed. His heart is a pump, and his lungs have been modified. His body doesn’t need this exercise, nor can it gain anything from it.
However, only those who have lost their legs can truly know how wonderful "having legs" is.
Lu Xuanyu loves jogging; he loves running in the invigorating cold breeze.
While running, he also reflects on the outcos of today’s battle.
Lu Xuanyu is a Martial Artist.
In a sense, he is an "enthusiast." The martial arts he loves do not involve "exhausting everything within specific rules"; he prefers "breadth" over "depth."
Of course, this does not an he does not like "depth," but as the saying goes, the wise are not broad, and the broad are not wise; one’s experiences and resources are always limited, making it difficult to achieve both depth and breadth.
Due to his family’s wealth, Lu Xuanyu can travel the world, visit martial artists worldwide, and learn these skills.
But...
In the past, he absolutely had no chance to compete with Martial Artists like Kotaro Kano.
These Martial Artists pursue "depth," becoming pinnacle experts in specific fields. They might enjoy the philosophy represented by these singular fields, or maybe they want to beco "National Players" or "Famous Practitioners," seeking fa and fortune.
Such martial artists pursuing "depth" rarely cross fields to interact with martial artists pursuing "breadth." Those seeking "breadth" offer them little benefit.
Olympic champions are the sa. Whether it’s the judo athletes of the Republic or fencing athletes, they have their own training plans, preparing for various competitions to win glory for the nation and earn gold dals. Sparring with a self-taught martial artist won’t aid their own program much; rather, it may disrupt their training schedule.
But now, his sparring partners are all athletes at this level.
His opponents are the pinnacle in their singular fields.
Every encounter, Lu Xuanyu feels he has learned sothing new, seen new worlds.
Sparring partners differ from athletes standing on the ring. Even if their technical levels differ, their ntality and state differ too. An athlete’s off-season status doesn’t match their state when stepping onto the ring.
Those opponents adjusted to their peak state always give Lu Xuanyu various monts of awe.
Before, these people were ones he had no chance to visit. But now, they all...
At this mont, another jogger appeared, gradually moving alongside Lu Xuanyu.
Lu Xuanyu glanced at the man. He was an Eastern European with a heavy beard, quite muscular, seemingly also a participant. This runner was wearing light-colored sportswear, with his armpits, chest, and back soaked into one piece by sweat.
Lu Xuanyu didn’t know this person—no wonder, "experts in singular fields" are too nurous, the list of participants is long, and he couldn’t rember all of them completely.
But that bearded fellow recognized Lu Xuanyu. He seed very surprised, wanting to speak. However, at this mont, he was already quite exhausted. This fluctuation of consciousness and the thought of speaking disrupted his breathing. The tall runner had to regain control of his breath.
And Lu Xuanyu maintained his pace without any change. Even his breathing rate didn’t alter.
After running for a few minutes, this Martial Artist began to slow down. Lu Xuanyu also ca to a halt.
Lu Xuanyu said, "Do you have sothing you’d like to say to ?"
The bearded Martial Artist steadied his breath and replied, "You’re Lu Xuanyu...that Cyber fighter."
"Yes, that’s ."
This Martial Artist seed surprised. He scratched his head and said, "Do you need to run too? Um, I heard you don’t really need aerobic respiration... Your heart is a pump. Your legs are Prosthetic Limbs."
Apparently, this question indeed troubled him.
Lu Xuanyu shrugged, "I got used to it. For several years, I didn’t have legs and had to walk with my hands. With such experiences, you’d love running too."
"Just personal enjoynt?"
"Yes, kind of like taking a walk."
"Oh, that’s the case." The big man took a few deep breaths, then said, "I need to continue my physical training..."
"If it won’t be interrupting, I’m planning to run a few more steps too," Lu Xuanyu said, "Would you mind if we run together?"
"Of course, not," the big man chuckled and resud running.
Lu Xuanyu jogged along behind him.
After running for a few minutes, Lu Xuanyu asked, "My friend, what’s your na?"
This ti, the big man ran a bit slower. He seed prepped this ti, so this ti he didn’t get out of breath. Running, he said, "My na is Bruce, Bruce Debasser."
"Oh? The one who claims to be an Aikido Practitioner?" Lu Xuanyu was slightly surprised, "I’ve heard of you! A long ti ago!"
Lu Xuanyu indeed had heard of Bruce Debasser.
Not the conversation between Xiang Shan and Chen Feng from today but much earlier.
Bruce Debasser was a few years older than Lu Xuanyu. His father seed to be a fan of Bruce Lee, so he nad his son after Bruce Lee’s English na. When Bruce Debasser grew up, however, he beca fond of another superhero nad Bruce from across the ocean, specifically "Bruce Wayne."
He fervently idolized Batman, to the extent that he actually donned a black nocturnal outfit to patrol as a Volunteer Police in his city.
Moreover, the martial arts he used were genuinely those Batman is claid to enjoy in the narrative.
Especially Aikido.
This is quite rare. Because Aikido is not a mature martial arts faction. It is just a concept proposed by a Jujutsu Master in his later years, akin to a "design concept" in the tech industry. Those demonstrative techniques are rely to show the concept, basically not applicable in actual combat.
Additionally, there is no systematic combative training in Aikido. Aikido dojos don’t have professional physical training sches nor anti-strike training.
All are for showcasing the "concept."
Yet Bruce Debasser extensively studied Karate, Thai boxing, Brazilian Boxing, Fencing, French Boxing, Judo, Sambo, Capoeira, and other martial arts, supplenting the typically missing parts of an Aikido dojo.
Of course, he did not forget the origin of the na his father gave him.
He also studied Jeet Kune Do.
At the sa boxing gym where Lu Xuanyu practiced.
After completing his studies, he served as a Volunteer Police in his city, seeking actual combat.
He was skilled in Street Fighting.
In so sense, he shares quite a few similarities with Lu Xuanyu. Coming from a similarly affluent family, a love for martial arts, broad learning of world martial arts, forging their own paths.
And Lu Xuanyu got to hear about this maverick in the martial arts enthusiast circle in Europe. They both shared so overlapping social circles. However, they had never t in real life before this.
Today was their first eting.
The two ran for a long ti, until Bruce’s heavy breathing, making him unable to run further.
Only then did Lu Xuanyu extend his hand and say, "It’s an honor to et you finally. Although, later on, I had an accident..."
"I’ve heard about it," Bruce also reached out his hand, "I admire you greatly. You’re a hero, Lu."
