Aria’s statents were swift and to the mark. She was keeping herself out of trouble for the most part.
The police officer looked taken aback by Aria’s lack of fear. He was more used to a girl in her position frozen stiff and asking to be escorted back ho. But Aria looked like she could not even be bothered.
"Miss, you are free to go. But we don’t feel confident letting you head out alone. How about one of it—"
"I will take Aria ho. We are co-workers and friends. I’m sure she would like to have a familiar face with her rather than an unfamiliar one at the mont."
Liam interfered, seeing this as a golden opportunity to get out of this situation.
The officer did not look satisfied, and Liam was almost afraid that he would be denied. But then the officer decided to let Liam be.
"All right! That might be for the best. If you have any problem, do not hesitate to reach out to the police."
The officer told Liam before he allowed them to leave and brought the thugs back to the police station. Aria kept her silence as long as there were people around, but once they were alone, she decided to turn her gaze toward Liam.
"I do not need you to escort . If anything, I feel like I should be the one to escort you back ho. The kind of company and friends you keep around you are terrible—"
"Aria, those people were not my friends, but thugs who ca to cause trouble. I thought I should clear this up before any more misunderstanding could occur."
Liam spoke before Aria could finish speaking. She looked taken aback, but she masked her expression within seconds, and her face looked resolute.
"I knew that. I was just testing you to see if you realized it or not. Looks like you need more practice with this. Anyway, I will head ho now. I will see you tomorrow."
Aria turned around and walked away. Liam noticed the shade of red that covered the female’s ears, and it was evident that she was embarrassed.
"Looks like Aria can mask her expression but not her ears. That sure is a way to tell when she feels embarrassed."
He chuckled as he watched the female leave. Then, he started his bike and went back ho as well.
Liam had no intention of telling anyone what happened here. He did not want to cause trouble for others or make them feel worried.
Besides, he was sure that this was a one-ti thing and would not happen again. Surely, these people would try not to get into more trouble, right?
"Sohow, I have a feeling that things are about to beco even more irritating. Tsk, I should not be feeling like this, but I cannot help it."
Liam reached ho and locked his bike. Once he had dinner, he went to sleep. But the feeling of wrong did not leave his side.
"You all will be locked up for a few days, so you should think about what you did wrong. We will contact soone to co and get you—"
The head officer spoke without hesitation as he led his small group inside the prison cells. He did not even get to lock the door before he was shot dead and ended up lying in his own pool of blood.
Those who were following him looked shocked as he suddenly fell dead.
"Which one of you should I bla for getting called out in between my eting? So, is anyone going to answer ?"
Loud footsteps echoed in the prison as a well-dressed man stepped over the dead officer and walked toward the prisoners. His intimidating aura made people shy away from him and look away.
"B-Boss, w-w-what are you doing here? I was told that you were... Did you co to save us?"
The scamr stuttered, but he slowly got more and more confident as he looked at his boss. But it was too soon for him to feel relieved, because the next second, he had a barrel of a gun pointed at his face instead.
"I clearly rember telling everyone not to call or irritate when I am working, but it seems as if you did not rember it. Shall I remind you of it?"
The boss asked, his gun burrowing itself deeper against the scamr’s head.
It made the scamr go pale, and his knees felt weak.
"B-Boss, this is not even my fault! I went back to return the vase you said was useless and get the money back. But not only did I get humiliated by their worker, but they also got the police involved. Give one reason to keep you alive."
The more the man stepped forward, the more scared the scamr looked. He was sweating bullets, praying that he would get to live another day and see his family.
But it was looking to be more and more difficult by the second.
"I will show you results! I will bring that worker as well as the other employee to you as soon as I can. If you have them, then the shop will have to pay you for scamming you."
The terrified scamr begged as he grabbed the powerful-looking man’s things. He was trembling, wanting to know whether he would survive or not.
"So, you want another chance? Sure, go ahead. However, if you fail, then I want you to sign away your soul to . Are you ready to take this chance?"
The boss sounded serious, but the scamr had nothing to lose from taking this deal.
He had sold his soul the second he chose the mafia to make a profit. But at least, it was better than to die in a ditch sowhere in a dark alley.
"Boss, I won’t bring sha to your na. I promise you that I will get revenge and bring you so gifts soon."
The scamr made his quick escape, and the boss watched him flee. Once he was gone, the boss turned to look at the others.
"So, what about you? Do you have anything to say about yourselves?"
He asked before the small crowd was shot dead.
