The golden coins levitated in the empty void, reflecting the glow of the dragon's fire. The divine energy radiated from within them, drawing his eyes onto them.
'What are you?' For so reason, such a large treasure was resting on the bottom of the sea.
'No, I should first think of why would even gold contain divine energy.' One of the coins drifted closer to his eyes as he carefully scanned them.
The intricate carvings of a branching tree decorated both of its sides.
'They are old... those markings don't belong to any currently existing country.'
His nostrils moved as he inhaled the void around him and the aura of the coin. He sniffed again, and now he was sure.
The faint, very faint aura of a dragon lingered on every single coin, not washed away even after possible decades of being subrged in the sea.
'This narrows the scope by a lot.'
It was now obvious to him that the golden color of divine energy belonged to dragons. He saw the reaper use their own divine energy in the dungeon, and it was purple. He even saw the ti mage use a bit of it, but it wasn't gold.
'Maybe the stolen gold from the temple?' He felt like it was possible, but there was also a second possible option he could think of.
Long ago, he theorized that dragons' urge to hoard gold wasn't just greed but had so deeper aning behind it. He even slightly felt it in his bones that he might be right.
'For what? Sohow this gold is charged with draconic divine energy.' There were only three groups of dragons that used divine energy, which narrowed his scope even further.
'Dragon lords, dragon kings, and the dragon god themself.' As he didn't know the origin of the hoard, he was sure it was sothing from higher up the hierarchy ladder.
'So this gold either belonged to so dragon king or the dragon god.' The new wave of excitent passed through him as he now possibly saw the path forward.
'How can one beco a dragon king? There must be so requirents. What if it has sothing to do with hoarding gold? That would explain our urge and need to gather gold.' Dragon's possessiveness knew no bounds, making dragons ready to sacrifice even their lives to protect their property, and especially their gold.
'We dragons are nature and part of nature is surviving, so why would we have instinct going against it? The only answer is the gold must have so great importance to us, for our evolution or survival.'
Even their divine energy's golden color no longer felt like a coincidence to him but like a hidden ssage.
'My divine energy grew but it was mostly thanks to the bonuses from the system. So there must be a way for dragons to grow their divine energy outside of it.'
He felt now like a blind man for not seeing sothing so obvious and directly under his snout.
'For now, I should keep it intact as it is still possible it belongs to the dragon god.' He wasn't such an idiot as trying to steal from his greatest backer and what was basically his boss. On top of that, stealing gold from other dragons without proper reasons was a great taboo.
'I wish the system was online, I would imdiately know from where this ca. It should be about that ti anyway.'
POV ???:
Dozens of pillars of light descended upon the large clearing in the middle of a forest. Humanoid silhouettes materialized amidst the light, the presence of their auras turning the forest silent.
A player looked into the sky, squinting at its unnatural red color.

"Ohh shit..." Just glancing briefly at the descriptions of the four alliances made everyone tremble as they realized this version wasn't so simple.
This was the first ti the four terrifying balance races all entered a war, supported by the gods.
The player staring at the sky turned slightly pale, 'Until now they were always bosses or occasional event monsters, but now they are going to turn into regular mobs?!!' The player felt like crying as he could already see the monsters with impossible powers just steamrolling over the world.
The worried voice constantly resounded all around him.
"Do you rember that dragon? We couldn't even hurt it and now more of such monsters will appear? This world is ending..."
"Ohhh shit, do you think this war will also reach Earth?" Everyone turned silent at the implications as they knew it was plausible as they rembered the dragon's words.
'They are aware of us and know where we live. They even likely visited it in the past as there is a ton of myths about them. So there is nothing stopping them from coming to knock on our doors...'
There was a giant war on the horizon, so it wasn't so far-fetched for it to quickly escalate beyond the borders of a single world.
