If it weren’t for Annelise Winter, Elias Warner wouldn’t have broken off the engagent with her.
She picked up her phone, only to see a photo of Elias Warner on a cruise circulating secretly in the socialite circle.
She stumbled and collapsed onto the bed.
Although this photo didn’t clearly show the entire face, Sylvia Lowell could imdiately recognize Elias Warner from just the side profile.
She didn’t expect Elias Warner to have gone on a cruise to Cryonia.
That is a dangerous area.
Many adventurers have not returned alive from that region.
She called Elias Warner, only to find that his phone was temporarily unreachable.
She imdiately called Annelise Winter.
Annelise answered the call.
"Annelise, tell , why did Elias Warner go on a cruise to Cryonia? What did you do to him?"
Annelise felt guilty about this and did not argue back.
"Annelise, it’s all your fault. If you hadn’t appeared, Elias wouldn’t have gone to Cryonia. Five years ago, because of you, he went to Surina for peacekeeping and almost died there. Now because of you, he went to Cryonia. Hardly anyone returns from that region after an expedition. Are you really trying to get him killed?"
"I’ll bring him back!" Annelise said, her hands trembling.
She was also worried about Elias Warner, knowing the dangers of that region.
"You’ll bring him back? Then go bring him back now! Don’t you know that the cruise encountered a storm a few days ago? The people on board are missing, their lives are uncertain!"
What?
When Annelise heard Sylvia say this, her mind went blank, unable to register what Sylvia said next.
Until the call ended.
Her tears flowed uncontrollably.
She frantically searched online for news about the cruise.
It was as Sylvia said, the cruise encountered a storm at sea, and the fate of those on board was unknown. They had lost contact.
Annelise’s heart seed to fall into an endless abyss.
She crouched down, crying.
"I’m sorry, it’s my fault. If I had told you earlier, it has always been you in my heart. Luna is your daughter, she’s the daughter of you and . I’ve never betrayed you. Would you have been less reckless if you knew?"
"Sob sob sob"
Annelise cried, her hands trembling as she continued to call Elias Warner, but it still couldn’t connect.
"Please answer, if sothing really happened to you, I could never forgive myself!"
Annelise cried, waiting for the phone on the other end.
She didn’t know how many tis she had called, and the response remained unchanged.
The number you dialed cannot be reached at the mont.
Annelise slumped to the floor.
In desperation, she called Caden Lynch.
Caden couldn’t stand Annelise’s incessant calls any longer and finally answered.
"Sob sob sob"
She started crying before she could speak.
Caden frowned and asked, "What’s wrong? Why are you crying? What happened?"
Caden felt that Annelise didn’t seem like she didn’t care about Elias Warner at all, contrary to what Elias had said.
In fact, it seed like Annelise had always cared about him deeply.
"I beg you, tell where Elias Warner is. Is he still alive?"
This...
Caden was a little troubled.
Elias had clearly told him not to reveal his whereabouts to Annelise.
But now, this pitiful woman was begging him.
Caden thought to himself: Elias, this doesn’t seem like a woman who doesn’t love you at all?
Sorry, but I can’t bear to hear such a beauty cry.
"Miss Winter, please don’t cry. I’ll tell you, Elias is on a cruise to Cryonia right now. Just wait for him to co back!"
"But, the news I got is that his cruise encountered a storm a few days ago, and their fate is unknown now!"
Annelise thought Caden might have more information on Elias, but the news he provided was exactly the sa as what she had heard.
"That’s all the news I have too. How about this, if I get any new information, I’ll contact you imdiately!"
Caden said.
"Alright, thank you so much!"
Annelise felt an unprecedented sense of helplessness.
Annelise still waited in her house in Breslin.
Ten days later
Annelise searched over and over for news about Elias Warner, but no matter how hard she looked, there was nothing about him.
Buzzing... Buzzing...
The vibrating sound of her phone startled Annelise.
There hadn’t been any movent on her phone for ten days.
It was Caden’s call.
"Annelise, I have news about Elias. Co back to the country with . Elias is in the country now!"
"In the country? How is he? Is he okay?" Annelise couldn’t imagine what condition his body might be in under such harsh conditions.
If anything happened, she wouldn’t forgive herself for the rest of her life.
"It seems like he’s in the hospital, but I don’t know the specifics. I’m heading back to visit him now. Do you want to co with ?"
Before Caden could continue, Annelise urgently replied, "I’ll go, I’ll go. I’ll go back with you now!"
Annelise hurriedly packed up and went to Breslin Airport to et up with Caden.
The two of them returned to the country together.
By the ti they arrived, it was already evening.
Caden Lynch learned that Elias Warner was at the Kybourne First Municipal Hospital.
He prepared to go to the hospital.
He glanced back at Annelise Winter: "I’m getting ready to head to the hospital now. Are you coming?"
Annelise Winter hesitated a bit.
Although she really wanted to see Elias Warner, she wasn’t sure if Elias wanted to see her.
She fidgeted with her fingers, hesitated for a mont: "Forget it, you go see him first. If he’s fine, just let know. I won’t go see him; he probably doesn’t want to see !"
Caden Lynch sighed.
"Are you sure you’re not going? Fine, I’ll check Elias’s attitude once I get to the hospital!"
"Thank you!"
Caden and Annelise parted ways, one heading to the hospital, and the other to Elias Warner’s villa.
Kybourne Hospital
Caden Lynch followed the address Elias Warner had given him and found him on the second floor of the ward.
When he saw Elias, there was also a beautiful woman standing next to him.
Caden frowned.
He thought to himself: When did this guy hook up with another beauty? Although she’s pretty, compared to Annelise, she lacks a certain poise. Despite being dressed more lavishly than Annelise, overall, she just doesn’t have the sa aura.
Caden knocked on the door.
Elias raised his eyes and saw Caden.
"You’re here so quickly?"
Caden inquired: "And who is this?"
"I’m Sylvia Lowell, Elias’s fiancée!"
Sylvia extended her hand, ready to shake hands with Caden.
Elias frowned. He looked much more haggard than before.
"Get out, I need to talk to Caden!" Elias coldly rebuked Sylvia.
Sylvia, however, wasn’t angry. She quietly placed a peeled apple beside Elias.
"You two talk; I’ll leave now!" Sylvia smiled politely at Caden and left the room.
As she left, she thoughtfully closed the door for Elias.
Caden watched Sylvia’s departing back and asked Elias: "Elias, what’s going on? Weren’t you into Annelise before? How co there’s soone new? Who is this Sylvia Lowell? Why have I never heard you ntion her?"
Hearing Annelise’s na, Elias frowned deeply.
He had been out exploring on a cruise, and it had been a long ti since he heard any news about Annelise.
Suddenly hearing Caden ntion Annelise again, his once-calm heart felt like it was hit by a stormy wave.
It took a long ti to calm down.
"Annelise has been constantly calling to ask about you, Elias. Is there so misunderstanding between you two? That girl doesn’t seem as indifferent as you said she was!"
"She cares about ?" Elias scoffed.
Annelise would care about him?
If she cared, why would she say those things?
"Elias, I really think there’s a misunderstanding between you and Miss Winter, but I see you already have a fiancée, so maybe it’s not important. It’s your business, you handle it as you see fit. I mainly ca to see how you’re doing physically!"
Caden smiled.
"I’m fine, just ca back from Cryonia, and my family was worried about my health, so they made co for a checkup and stay for observation."
Elias smiled.
"That’s good, as long as you’re in good health. You have no idea how worried I was when I saw reports about your cruise having issues. Your girlfriend Annelise was so upset when she heard the news, she cried!"
Elias’s eyes lit up, but then quickly dimd again.
Did she really cry for him?
Buzz... Buzz...
Caden’s phone rang.
He picked it up, seeing that it was Annelise calling.
He felt a bit awkward.
"Elias, I need to step out to take a call!"
Caden left the room.
Sylvia seized the opportunity to co back in.
Elias frowned.
"Elias, is your friend gone? I wanted to tell you sothing very important!" Sylvia thought to herself.
This ti, Elias ca back from his Cryonia expedition alone, without Annelise. They must have had a falling out.
Now was the ti to talk to Elias about their engagent and see where he stood.
"What is it?" Elias asked coldly.
"About our engagent, before it was because of you and Annelise, but now..."
"It’s unnecessary!" Elias interrupted Sylvia before she could finish, frowning and speaking coldly.
An engagent with Sylvia was absolutely impossible for him.
Even if there’s no chance with Annelise, he wouldn’t accept anyone else now.
He certainly wouldn’t engage with Sylvia at this ti.
Sylvia wasn’t surprised.
Without Annelise, she felt she had a chance and could take things slow.
"Elias, I understand you can’t accept right now, we can take our ti!" Sylvia smiled, tucking in Elias’s blankets.
In the hallway.
Caden answered the call; it was Annelise.
