Jingzhe blinked like a lost dog whose owner had just barked at him. "Sister...."
"Don’t use that seductive "sister" on ." i i wagged her finger vigorously. The sa finger turned to dashboard. "You used to have an animated doll of up there. You removed it and replaced with Mingzhu."
Both of them looked at the animated doll of Mingzhu whose right hand was swinging a sword. Jingzhe had more Mingzhu animated dolls in fighting postures in the car. They had all been chosen by Mingzhu because she took a ride in Lord Jang’s car and saw Lian’s animated doll in the dashboard dancing ballet so she decided that she also wanted the sa thing.
Mingzhu had personally removed her mother’s animated doll to make room for hers.
"You both take turns." He chose a more diplomatic answer. "But Mingzhu is our daughter so she gets my turn as well."
i i gasped.
Jingzhe received a call at that very mont from Mingzhu and he answered it. It was on loudspeaker so the conversation fell into i i’s ears. Mingzhu started off by squealing, giggling.
"Dad, it is fun at the zoo. Mingzhu has ridden on the back of an elephant..."
"I..." Mingzhe corrected in the background.
Mingzhu corrected her language. "I have ridden on the back of an elephant, I hugged a giraffe, I went swimming with sharks."
"My little pearl, swimming with sharks is dangerous. Are you okay?" He asked her.
In the background, they heard Mingzhe snorting.
Mingzhu answered in an excited voice, "I am okay dad, it was very exciting."
"I am here too." i i piped in. "You have two parents and your mother would like to know why you sent your father ten pictures from the zoo and only sent five."
"It was uncle that sent them mommy." Mingzhu replied. "We will take pictures on our date mommy."
"What date?" i i asked her, a smile brewing on her face. She thought it was very sweet of Mingzhu to think of a mother-daughter date for them.
"Our date with daddy at the pottery shop." Mingzhu answered.
i i gasped and looked at Jingzhe with a horrified look in her eyes. He had already told her!!! "Sweetheart, it’s my date with your dad. On that day, you will be going to grandma Manchu’s house."
"But dad said his friend is going to teach how to make my own cup." Mingzhu answered.
In the background, Mingzhe said, "You are a third wheel Mingzhu."
Mingzhu said to him. "Grandma Feng said that I am daddy’s favorite third wheel."
Jingzhe sniggered. "That’s right, sword-frog princess, you are the cutest third wheel in the world. Every good date needs a sword-frog princess who helps us eat our ice cream and claps her hands if the food is tasty."
A low growl ca from i i’s throat.
Jingzhe stiffened. "Ha-ha, Mingzhu dad is driving. I will call you when I get to work. I want to hear all about that shark swimming adventure."
"Okay. Bye daddy, bye mommy." Mingzhu giggled.
Jingzhe ended the call and turned to i i. A nervous smile dotted his handso face as he waited for the sword to co down and take his head off.
i i raised an eyebrow. "Your favorite third wheel. We have talked about this A Zhe, you cannot spoil her by giving her everything she wants or taking her with us everywhere we go. We cannot only go on dates when she is occupied with sleep overs. We must have grown-up ti too whether she is around or not."
Jingzhe grinned sheepishly. "I know, I know. But I just feel like I have a lot of catching up to do to make mories with her. She told that so of her favorite baby pictures are the ones with in them. That it ans I was always daddy." He looked down and laughed. "She is the sweetest and most adorable little girl in the world, every father’s dream.
But, I counted the pictures and there are only eleven in total. She is six years old and there are only eleven pictures she has to show for the ti spent with her dad. I just want to make more mories for her and that is why I keep taking her everywhere with us."
"Dammit!" i i whispered. "Now I feel like a bitch for demanding adult ti."
Jingzhe took her hands. "No...don’t feel that way at all, You are right, we need to figure out how to divide our ti. I love Mingzhu and I love you."
"But you love her more because she gave you a sword to beat the bad guys." i i smirked.
Jingzhe laughed. "My daughter is aweso and I love her for it. I love how protective she is of . But, I love you the most because without you I would not have her. I am glad to have both of you...okay....I am surrounded by beautiful, wonderful, loving, overprotective won. I am probably the luckiest man in the world."
i i snorted. "Well, you are as a loyal to her as she is to you. Who am I to step between you? But A Zhe, we are building sothing too and we must nurture it. I don’t want our lives to turn into school schedules, trips, snack preferences and howork. Such couples end up being distanced from each other."
Jingzhe looked thoughtful. "Then we alternate. If we have four dates in week, two can be family style and two can be just us. On our dates, Ninety percent of the conversations must be limited to talk abput us. And all the movies we watch should not include animated animals. Also, the food we eat should not be sothing we think Mingzhu will love and we are eating it to figure out if we can take so ho for her."
i i smiled. "I like that. And no more plushies, we have way too many and Mingzhu robs all of mine anyway. So....BIG RULE....no more plushies."
Jingzhe thought about the three plushies in the trunk of his car which he had bought for Mingzhu. One was a pony, another was another little green alien man and the other was a replacent for the Pocky stick the Emperor took. He decided to just sneak them into the doll house when he got ho at night. i i would never know.
He leaned toward her, hissing softly, "So, who is going to tell Mingzhu about the no more plushie rule?"
"That would be you." She told him with a sadistic smile. "Being a dad is not all about the fun. I have been bad cop for way too long. It is your turn to try it." She tapped his shoulder and gave him a sympathetic look like he was about to walk into a wolf’s den. "Good luck, Papa Mingzhu, you might need it."
