Capítulo 1799: Chapter 139: Every Man for Himself in the Face of Disaster (Part 3)

“How did the Hawkman Court get exposed?”

“Forget it, you don’t need to answer. I know for sure those traitors did it!”

The Bearman Emperor’s self-questioning left the Bearman Elder, who was in charge of intelligence, completely stumped.

Originally, he wanted to answer that he didn’t know.

After all, the Hawkman Court was wiped out so thoroughly, leaving no survivors behind is still unknown.”

Without knowing the source of the problem, there’s no starting point for investigation.

But since the leader himself concluded it was the work of traitors, he wouldn’t argue it.

Compared to the Orcs, the Human Race is ultimately an outsider.

Regarding the situation in the prairie, one can’t claim total ignorance, but they definitely don’t know much.

The ability to run wild on the prairie is mainly credited to the traitors.

Only these people know where the water is and where the grass is lush.

No matter how much they split up, the Orc tribes have so many people and animals that they always need water.

By controlling the main water sources, they controlled the lifeline of the Orc Empire.

Many of the past battles were ambushes set around the water sources, waiting for the enemy to take the bait.

Now, it’s the wet season, and everyone can still find water elsewhere.

Once winter cos and it’s the dry season, the situation will beco even more severe.

For water and grasslands, the hidden Orc tribes had to co out and fight the enemy.

Many Orcs chose to surrender largely because they recognized their own shortcomings and saw no future for the Empire.

The obvious crisis is clear to the Orc High Levels too.

The initial decision was made out of necessity.

If they didn’t split their forces and hide, they would’ve beco fodder for the prairie long ago.

Now, all their hopes are pinned on their allies.

As long as the Elf Army attacks the Alpha Kingdom, it’s only a matter of ti before the enemy withdraws from the prairie.

But no matter how much they counted, they never expected their allies to be as unreliable as themselves.

The Elf Army, on which they placed high hopes, paused its offensive in the Northern Continent and redirected southward.

The situation in the Central Continent is no longer reported, but in the Bearman Emperor’s view, it must be grim.

If there wasn’t imnse military pressure, the Elf Race wouldn’t give up their operations in the Northern Continent to concentrate their forces over there.

What exactly happened on that side isn’t important; the key issue is that the forces threatening the Alpha Kingdom’s rear are now gone.

With no threat to their holand, the Alpha Kingdom is unlikely to withdraw from the prairie, leaving all the military pressure on the Orc Empire.

Given the deep hatred between the two countries, unless they all perish, the enemy is unlikely to withdraw.

From the current situation, the greatest threat from the enemy isn’t the elite Cavalry Corps or the mighty Magical Beast Legion, but rather the unassuming Servant army.

No one knows themselves better than their own people.

A bunch of Pathfinder Party mbers sold all their information, enabling the enemy to sweep through unopposed.

Now, everyone can only hope their neighbors don’t turn traitor.

So tribes, for safety’s sake, even abandoned their chosen habitats to resettle elsewhere.

But this is just the beginning; as more traitors erge, it’s only a matter of ti before the war reaches their doorsteps.

When the Servant army searches for Orc tribes, they are far more professional than the Human Army.

Unfortunately, the retreat path was cut off by the Divine invaders; otherwise, there’d be no need for everyone to struggle; retreat would be the obvious choice.

Just like the last Human Alliance invasion, as long as the front line is long enough, logistics can drag the enemy to withdraw.

“Your Majesty, why not contact the various races to jointly seize a piece of land from these invaders?

The Human Race’s attitude towards these invaders is—kill!

If they refuse, we can draw the Human Army here and drag them down with us!”

A bald Bearman general tentatively proposed.

Frankly, choosing a strategic shift at this ti is not a good option.

This ans abandoning previous strategies, making the sacrifices of countless Orcs all in vain.

But tis change and so do circumstances.

The initial strategic decision was based on:

The Human Race would annihilate the Orcs, prompting each tribe to resist actively; the Elf Army would invade the Alpha Kingdom in the shortest ti.

Unfortunately, the allies turned out to be incompetent and failed to fulfill their agreent.

The enemy played unpredictably, as the Butcher Grand Devil King, who originally aid to annihilate all Orcs, surprisingly accepted their surrenders.

Under this double blow, the careful plans laid by the Orc High Levels suddenly fell apart.

Apart from slowing the enemy’s advance, the results are unbearably tragic.

As the situation develops, the daily main opponent is no longer the Human army, but the Orc Servant army.

Killing their own, the more casualties on their side, the happier the enemy gets.

After a brief hesitation, the Bearman Emperor hardened his heart and said, “Fine!”

Reason told him now wasn’t the ti for stubbornness.

Any strategic mistake might lead the Bearman Court to the sa fate as the Hawkman Court.”

The current situation is: to sit and await death or to gamble for the chance of survival for the race.

Similar scenes kept playing out across the prairie.

Every race was shocked by the Hawkman Court’s downfall, but their responses varied greatly.

The large races, with deep-rooted hatred, had no option to surrender and could only choose to fight the enemy to the end.

anwhile, so dium and small species secretly planned the right mont to switch sides.

Amidst growing panic, another piece of bad news began to spread across the prairie.

The Dark Elf Clan announced: they’re leaving the Orc Empire and joining the Alpha Kingdom.

This piece of bad news infuriated the Orc High Levels.

They had known for a long ti that the Dark Elves weren’t aligned with them, but the Earth Core race was also an enemy to the Human Race.

If the Orc Empire fell, the Dark Elf Clan shouldn’t expect to continue living as they did now.

Normally, they should have joined forces to deal with the Human Race, their common enemy.

Unfortunately, the Dark Elf Clan was never normal, and the Earth Core race had no involvent with the Human Race feud.

Besides being led on a wild goose chase by Hudson and soundly beaten, no conflict occurred between both sides.

After joining the Orc Empire, apart from a brief honeymoon period, all that remained was discontent.

Especially more so when the Elf Race, their mortal enemies, stood above the Orc Empire giving orders.

Should the Anti-Human Alliance win big, these “Elf heretics” would face retribution.

Never having truly identified with the Orc Empire, abandoning it at the brink of death to opt out was a natural choice.

In fact, from the lack of Human Army invasions into Dark Elf territories, it was already evident there was an under-the-table connection between them.

The Orc High Levels were just overly optimistic, wishfully thinking:

With the Dark Elves’ low reproduction rate, they were simply conserving their strength during the war.

In so sense, this judgnt isn’t wrong.

If the Orc Empire could hold, or if the situation developed as the Orc High Levels had predicted, they absolutely wouldn’t have switched sides.

Reality has no “if”; the Hawkman Court’s downfall shattered the Dark Elves’ final illusion.

Recognizing that their bargaining chip was disappearing with the ongoing war, the Dark Elf High Level promptly made a decisive decision.

At the sa ti as the announcent, two hundred thousand Dark Elf troops set off from their territory to join the war against the Orc Empire.
