Lan Yin walked up to Ah Dai, looking at the sowhat dazed tall young man standing there coldly without saying a word.
The Chief of the Northern Tribes sighed quietly to himself and said aloud, "Alright, since this foreign warrior has chosen my daughter, I have no objections, haha, I hereby announce..." Just as he was saying this, a loud shout interrupted him, "Hold on, Chieftain." The speaker was Kundu, who, upon discovering that Ah Dai had chosen his beloved Lan Yin, was taken aback and quickly intervened before the matter was settled. He strode to the Chieftain’s side and said, "Chieftain, the one I wish to choose is your daughter as well."
The Chieftain of the Northern Tribes of course knew that Kundu had long fancied Lan Yin and said with a wry smile, "But I have only one daughter, I can’t very well split her in half to marry both of you."
Ah Dai said indifferently, "That’s not a problem, let us have a contest. Whoever wins will have Miss Lan Yin."
The Chieftain paused, asking, "A contest of what?"
Ah Dai glanced at Kundu and replied, "Let’s wrestle." No sooner had he finished speaking than the people of the Yalian Tribe erupted into an uproar. No one had expected Ah Dai to make such a request, especially since Kundu had just claid the wrestling championship crown.
Kundu’s eyes flashed ferociously. Despite the day’s contests draining much of his strength, a restful afternoon had seen him substantially recovered. Nodding upon hearing the challenge, he said, "Fine, let see what incredible skills you foreigners possess." With that, he tore off his outer clothing, exposing his muscular upper body before Ah Dai, his eyes glinting with cold light, his entire being seething with rage. The Chieftain moved to the side with his daughter while the crowd of Yalian tribespeople began to cheer, boosting the morale of the two competitors.
Ah Dai said, "You’ve been competing all day; you must be quite exhausted. I won’t take advantage of that. How about this—I won’t use my hands. If you can knock down, you win."
Kundu exclaid, "What? You’re not going to use your hands? You’re underestimating !" Out of love for his woman, he didn’t argue any further but charged at Ah Dai with a roar.
Ah Dai did not dodge, allowing Kundu to grab his shoulders. Kundu’s heart leapt as he tripped at Ah Dai’s legs and pulled hard, attempting to throw him. Despite his strength, Ah Dai’s stance was even steadier. Back then, even the relentless crashing waves could hardly knock Ah Dai down, let alone his strength.
Ah Dai bent his legs slightly, hands clasped behind his back, standing firm as Kundu struggled in vain to budge him. When Kundu exerted force again, Ah Dai shrugged his shoulders ever so slightly, and with a fleeting flash of white light, Kundu found himself hurled away, crashing to the ground three ters distant.
Silence fell around them, as no one had anticipated the foreign youth could knock down Kundu, the Yalian tribe’s warrior, without using his hands.
Kundu struggled to his feet and charged Ah Dai again, only to be repelled the mont his hands touched Ah Dai’s clothes. After multiple attempts, Kundu no longer had the strength to rise. Ah Dai taunted, "Isn’t there a single warrior in the Yalian Tribe who can defeat ? Co on, if you can knock down, the beautiful Lan Yin is yours." His words imdiately sparked outrage, and seven or eight young n stepped forward, challenging Ah Dai one after another. Ah Dai, still with his hands behind his back, welcod each challenger. Almost none could grasp his clothes before being thrown to the ground, stunned and disoriented.
After the nineteenth challenger fell, no one else dared to step forward. Suddenly, Ah Dai stretched out his hand, pointing to Aguti who sat there blankly, and said, "Aren’t you the runner-up in today’s wrestling contest? Do you have the courage to try? If you can defeat , Lan Yin will be yours."
The dullness in Aguti’s eyes gradually dissipated under Ah Dai’s challenge as he stood up, seething with anger, and declared, "Foreigner, don’t think that our Yalian Tribe is without people. Our tribe’s dignity cannot be trampled on like this. Very well, I, Aguti, challenge you." With that, he sprang forward, swiftly advancing in front of Ah Dai. The atmosphere around surged with Aguti’s brave challenge, and everyone cheered for him, raising the mood to its peak.
Ah Dai’s eyes showed a trace of reassurance, and with his hands still behind his back, he said, "Co on then, if you can knock down, you win."
Aguti took a deep breath, stood firmly on his feet, and reached out both hands for Ah Dai’s shoulders. Faking with his right foot to the left, he suddenly tripped at Ah Dai’s right leg. Ah Dai’s eyes flickered with panic, his right leg buckling slightly, his body swaying. Overjoyed, Aguti put all his strength into his shoulders, trying to throw Ah Dai. Although Ah Dai stumbled, he didn’t fall as Aguti hoped. Yet, the crowd cheered, the first ti Ah Dai had shifted from his original stance.
Seizing the montum, Aguti pounced fiercely, tangling with Ah Dai. With agile steps, he continually tripped at unexpected places, making the bout lively. Finally, through relentless effort, Aguti saw an opportunity and threw Ah Dai, sending him to the ground. As Ah Dai lay there on his back, all Yalian tribespeople erupted with joy, chanting Aguti’s na as if he had beco the hero of the entire tribe.
