The Oga brushed off the Alpha’s hand that was worried about him, feeling very disappointed even though he knew it wasn’t the Alpha’s fault.
He knew it was his own fault for getting his hopes up. It was all his fault for getting too carried away with the atmosphere and the Alpha’s treatnt of him.
But how could he resist that feeling when he expected attention from soone and Axel gave it to him.
"Don’t touch , I don’t want to be touched by you," Daren said in a cold tone.
Daren’s words made Axel flinch, this ti he really couldn’t hide his surprise when the man suddenly beca like that.
"What? I’m just trying to care about you. I was trying to check up on you!" replied Axel in annoyance at Daren’s sudden change in attitude.
"I don’t need your concern! I just want to rest, you better shut up and leave alone!" Daren turned his back to Axel and covered himself with the blanket.
"Don’t pretend to care about ," he said again.
Of course Axel heard Daren’s words and wondered, what did he an by pretending to care?
"You think I just pretend to care about you?!"
"Of course! You think I don’t know?" Daren pulled back the covers and turned to Axel and looked at him.
"I know you think of as an annoying Oga! I know I’m a nuisance, so you better stay away! Stop pretend to be nice or care about because you pity !" he shouted back at Axel.
The Alpha male could see the pain in the Oga’s eyes before him. He didn’t know how he could hear all that, but he didn’t an to say it. He just didn’t want them to see his feelings so clearly displayed that he cared deeply for Daren.
"That’s why it’s better not to cross the line. You’re just my bodyguard and I don’t need your pity. You better know your place," he said again as he turned his face away.
Unbeknownst to him, not only were his feelings hurt by the knowledge that he was being intrusive, but the man standing nearby was too. Daren’s words, which seed to push him away, sohow made Axel disappointed and annoyed.
Axel’s hands clenched into tight fists, holding back the anger he had as well as his feelings.
He held himself back from telling Daren everything he felt.
"Did that damn Beta tell you this? Did he tell you this?" he asked with a low growl.
"It doesn’t matter who said it! The point is to stop pretending, I know I’m a pain in the ass and you should have told from the start!"
Axel clenched his teeth in annoyance, even though what he did was a reflex from within because he really cared.
But Daren just didn’t believe him.
Unable to contain his emotions any further, Axel left Daren’s room and slamd the door hard.
BLAM!
The Oga gasped in shock at how Axel left without saying anything.
"He’s... Really angry?"
Outside the room, Axel went to the vending machine and bought a cold coffee. He tried to calm himself down, but Daren’s words kept running through his head.
"Stop pretending to care about !"
"He thinks it’s all an act? I’ve done everything I can so far, without realizing I’m doing it all the ti because I really care about him, but he--"
KLANK
He squeezed the can in his hand so hard that it shattered. He really didn’t understand why Daren trusted Ivan so much after everything the Beta man had done to him.
But, he slowly realized, why was he feeling so angry?
He did care about Daren and was upset that the Oga thought he was pretending, so what?
Why did he care about that too? Even if Daren would end up hating him, wouldn’t that be good?
"That way his death won’t be as painful as feeling betrayed."
’I’m an Alpha who works as an agent. I et tons of people and have taken hundreds of lives, without even thinking about their feelings at all. Then why would I care about the feelings of an Oga who is so annoying like him?’ he thought at the ti.
However, a new question arose in his mind.
Was Daren... really bother him after all the things they did together?
The more Axel thought about it, the more annoyed he beca at himself for getting himself into such a difficult situation.
"Looks like soone’s upset around here," said a man standing behind Axel.
He turned around, seeing a brunette man standing with his arms folded across his chest. Looking at the Beta man, made Axel feel even more annoyed.
"What did you co here for?!"
"What’s wrong with that? This is a public place, anyone can co to this floor to buy drinks or whatever. And it seems like such a coincidence that I t you, even though I intended to check on my best friend," Ivan replied.
"Heh, you must have intended to laugh at , right? Coming to check on the commotion that could have happened because of what you said to him."
The sincere smile on Ivan’s face turned slowly into a satisfied smile, as if this was what he wanted all along.
"I told you to keep your distance from him. You’re the one who made him feel special but in the end you’re the one who destroyed his feelings with your words."
"You’re interfering too much with my business with him, you should have kept quiet before I ran out of patience!" Axel said and then stood right in front of Ivan with his tall body, staring intently at the man in front of him.
However, there was no fear or intimidation on Ivan’s face. In fact, he was even more pleased to see that Axel was no longer trusted by Daren.
"I’m just warning you not to cross the line, rember your duty. Don’t do anything that will hinder your work," he said and left the Alpha.
Axel watched Ivan leave for Daren’s room, slowly he realized what Ivan had said earlier.
"Hinder my work..."
His eyes narrowed sharply, thinking of sothing that was a possibility.
"Could he be..."
